Walk Away

Star heard it before she saw it.

"It's too late, my blood is in your veins." David stated.

She walked down the first two steps, Michaels face coming into view, he had a murderous look in his eyes.

"So is mine!"

Michael grabbed him and gave a forceful shove, Star watched as David became impaled on the antlers.

"No!" She raced down the remaining stairs towards David, her hand cupping his cheek, tears forming in her eyes.

"Star?"

"It's me, David!" She cried.

David forced his eyes open and despite the pain, he smiled at the beauty before him. Clutching her hand, he ran his thumb over her knuckles.

"I'm sorry, Star."

Star buried her head in his chest, her hands now loosely grasping his leather jacket.
More tears fell as she heard his heart growing weaker.

His hand weaved its way into her curly brown hair. "Star,"

Her cries increased, she refused to look up.

David raised her head, "Star, look at me."

"I'm sorry for the way i treated you, I'm sorry for how things turned out."

"Don't!" She choked, "Don't apologize!"

David let out a wheezy laugh.

"You're beautiful, Star."

"So are you."

"I love you Star." He got out, before his eyes closed and his heart stopped.

"NO! NO! NO!" Star shook him.

She lay her head over his heart, tears soaked his t-shirt.

"I love you too, David."

Star pressed her lips against his cold ones for a final time.

"I love you," Star then did the one thing she was good at, she walked away.
