Sequel: Firebrand

Hunters

starts so soft and sweet
and turns them to hunters

Once 'fore a midnight fell to shroud mine eyes,
and 'twas this night that blinded thee so well;
Lost ages and forgotten time in lies,
for to praise heavens while blamed is this hell

Scorned is my blood to rot within here cell,
and weep to keep such narrow distance 'tween
where we die and what we have living felt
as souls defying all we've known and seen

Rounder still watch past kings and living queens
crowned with gleaming helms never to be marred,
but be worshipped by even darker fiends
whose hollowness masks burning cheeks afar

While humbly these stars above do so fade,
'tis we who thrash 'way from fetid soil graves
