Why Do You Follow Me?
Fourteen
Why do you follow me?
Since I was a baby, you’ve been watching
For fourteen years
Mom still doesn’t think you’re real
I just stopped telling her about you
Your black hair is past your shoulders now
Your lips are always warm against mine
And your brown eyes hold so much pain
I know you’re real
Remember when you snuck into my room?
You kissed me harder than usual
You stripped off our clothes
You took my innocence that night, and I gladly gave it to you
Once we finished, you stayed next to me
That was the first time you whispered to me how brave I was and how much I meant to you
You cuddled me close
I fell asleep while wondering what all of this meant
My body was still surrounded by yours when I woke up
When I came back from school the next day, I told you I got a girlfriend
“Emily,” I replied when you asked for her name
You let a tear fall
We held hands; You kissed my fingers one by one
When it was night again, you kissed my lips
You kept apologizing after every kiss since I wasn’t yours alone anymore
I noticed how that didn’t stop you from kissing me
I giggled when you moved your hands in between my legs
You smirked
“I love you, Max” That’s what I always loved hearing
“I love you too James,” You grinned and moved your head down next to mine
We fell asleep together
