Serendipity's Diary
Curly
Diary Entry #14
Mood: Reminiscent
Date: Irrelevant
Either you aren't reading, or you don't follow directions very well.
I asked you to say something. You didn't.
But a promise is a promise. I told you that if you made a gesture of some sort, I would be myself more often.
Just remember, you asked for it. Even if you don't know it.
Question. Do you have a nickname?
Answer: yes. You just don't know it.
It's Curly. That's what Jess and I called you when you weren't around because Jessie forgets that you are wildly popular and that you have friends EVERYWHERE.
That's why she always talked a little louder when you would walk over.
This sound familiar? "Hey Ryder, how's CURLY doing?" She was trying to get your attention.
I think she did a better job than I was doing.
Why Curly? Because of your hair. I don't actually think your hair is curly, but be grateful.
We could have called you Hairy.
Or what about the awkward moment when you almost knew your nickname?
Jessie and I were talking when you walked by, so of course she had to be loud and ostentatious. Translation: tackily unsubtle.
"HI, C---- RYAN!" It wasn't really noticeable but I couldn't help thinking that it could happen again. It never did.
Now, we refer to you as "him" or "he", because we both know who I'm talking about.
I get the feeling that you always know what we're talking about, too.
That is the most unsettling feeling I've ever had.
Goodbye for now, Curly.
