Lucky Now.

Hard way to fall.

Leah paced her living room anxiously waiting for Garrett to arrive. She glanced at the clock on the wall before letting out a sigh. It was only 5 minutes past the time he said he would be here so there was really no need to panic.

She sat done on the couch slowly, making sure not to wrinkle her dress. She still couldn't help but send the boy a text asking where he was. It was very rare for him to be late to anything.

After about 15 minutes of waiting and no response to her text she tried to call him which ended up being a failed attempt. After trying a few of the other boys she dialed Garrett's house number hoping he was there and just away from his phone. She didn't care that he was running late she just couldn't help but worry about him.

After a few rings Mrs. Nickelsen picked up and she cleared her throat, "Oh hey, this is Leah. Is Garrett there?" She asked and his mom quickly spoke, "No, he's in California for their show remember?"

The phone line went silent as she racked her brain trying to remember if he did tell her that and she had just forgotten. Which wouldn't have been that hard to believe.

"He told you didn't he?" Mrs. Nickelsen asked bringing her back to reality.

"Oh yeah! I just forgot! Sorry. Had a moment!"

Mrs. Nickelsen believed her lie and let out a laugh, "It's ok dear. I do it all the time! When he gets in I'll tell him to call you."

"Thanks. Bye."

Leah hung up with the woman and dropped the phone onto the couch as hurt filled her chest.

How could he not tell her? On top of that, they had been discussing prom for days now. He couldn't have forgotten that easily.

Garrett repeatedly looked at the time on his phone before slamming his forehead to the window he was sitting beside.

"Leah is going to hate me." He grumbled to who ever was listening. He really thought he would be home by now like planned but of course nothing could go smoothly and the show ran over and he knew he was in trouble. He looked at his phone again in hopes of having service so he could call and plea to the girl, but no such luck as they drove down a desserted road.

"She will not. She loves you." Kennedy tried to comfort him as he patted the boy's shoulder.

"Doesn't matter. I should have just told her about the show."

"Yeah, well I told you we wouldn't make it back in time." John spoke from the passenger seat.

Garrett ignored his words and Pat glared at John, "Shut up. It's none of your business anyways."

John simply shrugged as Garrett placed his face into his hands. He just wanted to hurry up and get home so he could try and fix the disaster he knew was waiting on him.

Once they pulled up at the boys house he didn't even go in. He just flew to his car and drove like a maniac to Leah's house, praying the whole time that she would forgive him. Once there he stumbled to her front door and knocked furiously until she opened the door looking as angry as he assumed she would.

"Leah..." He said out of breath and she crossed her arms, "Thanks for telling me you had a show, oh and thanks for ruining prom. Real sweet of you."

He sighed, "I swear, I had planned to make it back in time! I didn't tell you because I didn't want to worry you and then all this crap happened which pushed the show back and screwed everything up and I had no service on my phone and I am so, so, very sorry Leah."

"Yeah, well you worried me anyways and then I had to call your mom to have her tell me you weren't even in the state."

He ran his hand down his cheek as the girl moved from the door to the couch.

"I know and I am sorry. I don't know what else to say." He responded moving over and kneeling in front of her.

She shrugged hurt now filling her eyes. She tried to tell herself not to be emotional about something so silly, but she couldn't help it. It was Garrett of all people and he had never let her down until now.

"Leah..." He whispered bringing his hand to her cheek, "I love you and I am so fucking sorry. I honestly tried. I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you. I swear."

She shrugged once more staring at her hands resting in her lap.

"You look beautiful and there is nothing more I wanted than to walk into prom with you on my arm." He whispered placing his hand over hers.

She didn't speak and he tried to study her as they sat there in silence. He had never seen her hurt or angry and he didn't know what she was feeling which bothered him more than he imagined.

"Are you mad at me?" He questioned and she shook her head no.

"Are you upset with me?" He asked and she nodded causing him to let out a sigh. His chest now hurt simply because he had made her upset. It was never his intention and he felt completely horrible now.

"It's not that big of deal. Prom or whatever. You just hurt my feelings." She whispered and he frowned before wrapping his arms around her waist.

"I know baby. I'm so sorry. If I could go back I wouldn't even go to that show." He responded honestly as he kissed her cheek trying to get her to look at him.

"You should have just told me. It would have been fine."

"I know. I should have and I am sorry I didn't. Please don't be upset. I love you." He begged as her eyes finally locked with his.

"I feel like John is right on a certain level." She spoke softly and he narrowed his eyes in confusion, "How so?"

"I just feel like this kind of thing will happen more often when you guys actually get big and tour more and I don't know how I feel about that. I'm happy for you guys because you are amazing, but on the other hand I have such high standards of you in my mind because you are so different from anyone I've ever been with that I'm scared it's going to ruin how I think of you." She said tears lining her eyes and he tried to find the right words.

"Leah, I...I mean, this was a complete accident. I'm not going to, I mean, no. That won't happen." He fumbled out, his old self making an appearance probably because this conversation was petrifying him.

"Because this is the first time you've ever let me down and it hurt more than I assumed it would. I'm sounding like a total girl right now, but still..." she said forcing a weak grin as she wiped the tears that fell onto her cheek.

He bit his lip, pretty much feeling lower than he thought possible. He had let her down. That sentence seemed to hit him right in the heart.

"I love you, Leah. I love you so much and I'm so sorry. I never meant to. It wasn't intentional and don't start listening to John. He doesn't know anything about us and what we have." He finally got out as he cupped her face.

"Do you still love me?" He managed to ask and of course she nodded instantly.

"Then don't do this. I will never, ever let this happen again and as long as you love me, be with me. Don't give up on us, Leah. Please." He responded a bit desperately. If he needed to beg he was willing to do just that.

"I'm not, Garrett..."

"Seems like it, but I love you and I am not going to give you up anytime soon." He said sincerely and she nodded as he kissed her cheek.

"I am so sorry baby. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings and made you cry and made you miss prom." He whispered touching his forehead to hers.

"It's ok." She whispered unable to stay even a little mad at him simply because she knew Garrett meant every word because he was one of the most honest people she knew.

"It's not. I will make it up to you some how, Leah. I feel like complete shit right now." He mumbled and she placed her arms around his neck.

"I love you." He added kissing her lips sweetly.

"I love you too."

"You do look amazing in this dress." He whispered and a grin hit her lips which he was happy to see.

"Thanks."

He stood up from his knees and she watched him as he grabbed up the remote and turned on the television. He eventually landed on a music station that was playing an old slow song she didn't know and he held out his hand with a grin, "May I have this dance Ms. Adams?"

She smiled and held out her hand allowing him to pull her from the couch. He placed his hand on her waist and pulled her close to him as they swayed slowly to the music.

"Well, how was the show?" She finally asked as she relaxed her head on his shoulder.

"Crappy. Seriously. I am not making that up. We had speaker problems, Ken had guitar issues, it was a mess."

"I'm sorry. That sucks."

"Karma I assume." He mumbled and she rolled her eyes, "Was not."

He shrugged and she looked up at him, "I love you."

"Love you too, babe." He responded with a weak grin. He would probably feel guilty for a few days. It was inevitable.

"So what happens after prom?" He asked and she smiled, "I don't know, parties I assume."

"Right, well maybe you should go change and I'll call a one John Oh and see where the party is and we will go."

"Do you want to?" She asked and he nodded, "Yeah. There needs to be some sort of fun being had tonight."

She chuckled, "Ok, I'll go change."

He nodded dropping his arms from her as he planted a kiss on her forehead.

She headed up the stairs feeling better then she did a few hours ago. Garrett could always make her feel better even though it was him who upset her. He however put her horrible thoughts at ease. She knew he was right. They belonged together and everything would work itself out.

He fell onto the couch to wait on her and texted John right away. He wasn't big into partying and he knew she wasn't either, but he wanted her to have a good time. To make up a bit for his mistake.

He sighed as he stared at his phone waiting for a response. He still felt so uneasy about everything said. He wanted to believe more than anything that everything would be ok, but he didn't know who he was trying to convince more, her or himself.

If only you knew how livid I was about this whole mibba thing because I for one do not save chapters. Once they are posted I delete them so I can keep up with where I am at.

Lesson learned.

So yeah, if you read this chapter before it was deleted then I'm sorry simply because it's probably not the same, but I tried my best to remember, but you know...
