Electric Feel

Electric Feel

Silence filled the humid, salty tasting air that filled the distance between the two lovers – if you could call them that.Bokeh lights from the unforgiving sun lined up perfectly with the handsome face that awaited her; Ever so slightly sun burnt cheeks upon sun kissed skin, adorned with squinting gorgeous green eyes. The chemicals that released within her heart as her never ending chocolate brown eyes locked with his were a dangerous mixture of every last emotion you could think of, stirring up a vicious swarm of madly dashing butterflies from within her stomach – the one that had been too nervous to keep down any food since the reality of the inevitable ending of his break set in.

The nearly inaudible sound of sand crushing underneath her rugged faux leather flip flops was amplified throughout his ear drums, and he made pathetic attempts to deny the unfathomable electric feeling that seemed to convulse throughout his veins with every simple step she took.A tiny, delicate hand reached up and ran through her perfectly messy hair that he longed to run his own hands through, and suddenly an unfamiliar sense of light headedness came over him.The anticipation built up in his atoms had made him so eager he felt practically numb.He let a quirky smile spread across his face as his grip on the sun roof of his car tightened immensely, a nice change from his usual cocky grin. She fell in love all over again every time the appearance of either graced her with its presence.

Other beach goers faded away in groups off of the beach as the sun set, and no persistently annoying noises of traffic flooded the atmosphere, as if the whole town had been informed of this event of extreme significance. The entire beach and beyond seemed to grow quiet, the violent collusion of waves calmed into gentle lapping, and even the painfully high squawks of passing seagulls and pelicans seemed to die down; As if the whole world had recognized and adjusted to the mind boggling levels of energy that flowed between the two – The theory that energy was never destroyed nor created had never held so true.Words went unspoken, and like most ways of the world, the perfect understanding of each other without even a certain look was mysterious and unknown to all including the two.

Andrewheld back nothing as he flung his arms around the tiny waist that now accompanied him on the hood of his old, dirty Jeep. His brain had instantly stopped functioning as he used his 5 senses to capture this moment, and inscribe it in his memory until the day his heart stopped pumping blood, which only pumped through his veins for the sole purpose to love her with every last ounce of his being. He breathed in her deliciously familiar scent – A unique floral, vanilla mixture with a hint of drift wood and just the right amount of sea salt from the ocean that he could never manage to drag her away from for more than a day or two; Never in his life had his cells pined to be a body of dirty, salty water so badly. The nerves in his fingertips were shot once they encountered the countless number of tiny goose bumps that arose on contact on her skin.

He hesitantly pulled his face away from the comforting warmth of her neck to look at her god blessed face, along with her god blessed smile. The sun merely enhanced the gorgeous, heartwarming aura that surrounded her lovely figure, from the unruly flyaway’s in her otherwise flawless, long luscious brown locks, to her tiny, plum toes that were always partially covered with chipped toe nail polish. She ran her fingers through the long brown, unruly curls that covered the top of his head down to his neck and a bit forwards, and she proceeded to cup his face in her small, delicate hands.Shivers ran up and down his spine, something he loved and loathed all at once, which he would never even admit existed to her – While he adored her spunky, complacent personality he tried to fight the urge to compliment every last bit of her being.

The rights to the use of his own limbs and extremities were no longer his, and he let this new unusual force take over.He reached up and completely concealed every last sight of her digits with his own.His somehow steady breathing balanced out her shaky, short breaths as he held on tight to the girl he never wanted to let out of his sight.

“Oh God, please don’t ever let me go.”She spoke with a quivery voice, stealing the words right out of his brain.Just as she opened her mouth to say so, tears that weren’t evident before spilled over the brim of her large brown, sad eyes and onto her worried face right off of her cheeks.

“Babe!”He chuckled, pulling her closer and rubbing her back as well as smoothing out her tangled locks as her progressively sobbing body pressed harder onto his.He didn’t have a chance in hell attempting to fight unwanted tears that came, but at that point he did not care about them. The scared whimpers leaving her perfect, pouty lips pained him more than words could possibly explain. The receding sun reflected their time together; they both knew that very soon he would be states away, and though he knew what existed there was true, the unknown future and classic effects of miles on a relationship existed as well.

“Look at me.”He spoke, his deep strong voice gone without a trace. He cleared his throat and attempted again but failed as she nuzzled her cute, ski slope nose gently into his neck.

“Come on. Please.”He begged, rubbing the small of her back a little harder. She slowly backed away, and the unfriendly cold air chilled her bare arms while the Pacific’s humidity curled her hair further. The sorrow that filled the black specks in her irises was almost too much for Andrew to handle as he put a strand of hair behind her ear, decorated with multiple piercings. The feelings exchanged were tentative; going back between horribly upset for the events yet to come and unbearably happy to be with one another, even if just for now.

He couldn’t help but laugh at the image of a usually put together Charlie now puffy eyed, snotty and tear stained. He efficiently wiped the tears from her cheeks and showered every last inch of skin covering her face with soft kisses and managed to get that classic smug smirk back.

He snaked a hand up back to her neck, playing with some of her frizzy curled hair, and brought her face closer to his until just the tips of their noses touched. She laced her fingers with his and shook her head a little bit, and couldn’t help but giggle at the look on Andrew’s face – the cutest possible mixture of “she’s adorable” and “Ben would endlessly give me shit if he saw this”.She rested her head in the crook of his neck and looked on to the sun set.He quickly stole a forehead kiss and she instantly crinkled up her nose, butterflies dispersing all throughout her extremities.

In this seemingly perfect moment, worried doubtful thoughts infested her mind and tauntingly sickening questions presented themselves.Parting was a topic that was never discussed; They talked about the future often and somehow managed to simply pretend this day wasn’t inevitable, that with Charlie staying in the confines of LA and Andrew taking off on tour things would stay exactly the way they were. While Andrew was all about change and doing whatever, he knew all too well that even when he made spaghetti instead of teriyaki noodles, Charlie’s whole Zen was completely thrown off loop.

“Don’t even, Charlie.”He whispered as if he could hear the heart wrenching thoughts playing like a broken record in her head.

“Easier said than done,”She retorted, distancing herself physically and mentally from the conversation. It was her defense mechanism – If you think it could potentially end up bad, walk away.

After looking longingly at her for a few moments, he simply let out a little snort and pulled her closer back to him.

“I may be leaving but I’m not going anywhere.I couldn’t even if I wanted too.”He spoke with a stern tone, serious and matter-of-factly.The sun was engulfed by the settling waves, and brought along with it any last drops of doubt that had earlier soaked her mind.Hours, which only felt like moments passed as the two moved themselves from his car to the bed of her truck, laying and gazing at the stars.

Andrew felt a strange sense of reassurance from them, and though it was a sight he had seen repeatedly for the last 23 years, it held an entirely new meaning. The stars light years away were gorgeous even from there; Bright and striking, even from there. And though so far away, it was like they were just right there.

"I’m all yours,”He stated simply, if that was an obvious law of physics. And that was all she needed.

All along the western front, people line up to receive; she got the power in her hands to shock you like you won't believe.

Ooh girl, shock me like an electric eel. Baby girl, turn me on with your electric feel.
