A Wag's Life
Chapter 8
3rd October 2008:
So last night Phil Jagielka and I had finally gotten together after wrestling against our feelings for each other for months. Suddenly we were together and I was on Cloud 9. Last night we hardly got any sleep, mainly because we were up talking, hugging and kissing all night. We did nothing else but that yet it still took all night. Suddenly my awful break up was entirely behind me.
Almost immediately when climbing out of bed after an hour’s sleep I was getting into some nice clothes. Today was going to be my polka dot day as it has just raced back into fashion. After getting into all polka dot items, I pulled Phil Jagielka out of bed. “Come on, I texted the guys to come to the pub. We are going to tell them about us.”
“Really? Already?” Phil Jagielka asked me in shock. “I thought you was going to wait because of Fernando.”
“That was before we were together and now I’m with you I don’t want to hide it anymore.”
“Well hell yeah to that!” Phil Jagielka informs me pulling me into his arms and kissing me gently.
However, I was quick to pull away from him. “Get changed first.” I say before wandering downstairs where I have a glass of water, whilst waiting for him. Eventually Phil Jagielka comes downstairs and goes to make a cup of tea, but before he can get anywhere near the kettle, I take hold of his ear. “No, we are going down to that pub.”
“Can’t I have a cup of tea first?”
“No, I’m too excited.” I giggle and we walk there.
Once we arrive at the pub, were too early, although, so is Sami. He’s too busy looking through a newspaper, which I can’t help but see a picture of me on the front of. And it calls me a stripper! How is a pole dancer a stripper?! It didn’t matter anyway, I knew exactly who’d posted those pictures. It was Rapper. And not only that… He made out that Sami and I had slept together! I took a seat next to Sami and started looking through the newspaper too. There were some convincing pictures of me and Sami. Maybe Rapper didn’t go after all, maybe he hid whilst taking pictures of us. Sami looked my way. “It’s all over the papers Summer. We can’t deny this electricity between us anymore.”
“Sami…” I began.
“Come on, when I kissed you last night you can’t deny that I rocked your world and you just wanted to explore more of me.”
“Sami, I will never be desperate enough to sleep with you.”
“Will you still be saying that the morning after you sleep with me?”
“What…” I begin, but then Fernando, Alex, Yolanda and Nicola arrive. Abbey is back with Peter in Portsmouth, so isn’t able to join us today.
And suddenly this news feels as though it’s going to be awkward because I didn’t actually invite Fernando, but he was here. Suddenly blurting out the news didn’t seem very clever. Although, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, we hadn’t been together for a while now. I looked over at Phil Jagielka and he nodded his head, we smiled at one another, giving me reassurance. “Umm… I’ve got an announcement to make.” I begin and suddenly all eyes are on me and I’m not sure what to do. “Ok, umm… Basically Phil Jagielka and I are now together.”
This news got a mix of reactions. Firstly, Sami looked at me. “You mean I have to stop finding new ways to get you into bed.”
“Yes.”
“That’ll never happen.” He replies whilst sipping at his drink.
Fernando walks over to the bar and Alex looks at me. “I’m happy for you, but you aren’t going to be top WAG with him.”
“Hey!” Phil Jagielka protests.
“I don’t need that, it’s not important.” I say and look at Fernando at the bar. “Excuse me a minute.” I say before walking over to the bar too. He turns my way and smiles, I smile back. “Are you ok?” I wondered.
“Yeah, I know I tried to convince you to get with Phil, but it’s still hard you know.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologise. You’ve finally moved on and I’m happy for you.”
“Thank you Fernando.” I paused. “You seem sad.”
“No, it’s not to do with you.”
“What’s it to do with then?” I wondered.
“I don’t know…”
“You can still talk to me.”
After reassuring Fernando of this, he let’s out a sigh and looks me in the eye. “I’m just a bit gutted about Abbey going back to Portsmouth.”
“Why?”
“Because we became friends.”
“Nothing more than that I hope? You know she’s with Peter.”
“I know, I’d never do anything like that. Were just friends.” He states to me. “Well, then next time your in Liverpool, if you’re no more than just friends then I’m pretty sure you two can hang out together and have a good time.”
“Thanks.” Fernando replies and grins.
I begin to walk away, but then he says: “She reminds me of you.” I turn around a little surprised and stay quiet for a moment, only for Fernando to then re-elaborate. “When I first met you, you were so young and naïve, silly and funny, but then being with me made you grow up and sometimes I miss the old you and she reminds me of the old you.”
“Are you saying you don’t like who I am now?”
“No. You are grown up, you don’t do half the silly things you used to, but then again, the old you wouldn’t have hurt me the way you did.” I looked down at the floor when Fernando said this, feeling a bit guilty, but then I thought no, I wasn’t going to take this. “Yes, I would of Fernando. I know this is going to sound harsh, but the truth is I love Phil Jagielka more than I loved you, I always have but couldn’t admit it to myself and that day I couldn’t take it anymore. I know my methods of what I did was wrong, I know I hurt you, but that’s the honest truth.” I inform him, before sitting back down.
My hands take hold of the newspaper that Sami was reading and I once again look at what Rapper has done. There is no way I’m standing for this! No way! I will get my revenge. Today. Suddenly Phil Jagielka was looking at me, well gazing at me. “Now that were together I want to ask you something…” Suddenly everyone at the table was looking at me, this made me worried and the next thing I know I’m blurting out: “Oh God, your not going to ask me to marry you, are you?”
“No, that’d be too soon. Umm… There’s this party tonight that all the Everton player’s and their girlfriends and wives are going to be going with and my manager is going to be there and there’s going to be lots of champagne. Anyway, I’ve never asked anyone this before, but how would you feel about accompanying me?”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
The next thing I know Fernando rejoins the table having heard mine and Phil Jagielka’s conversation. “Don’t do it Phil, every time she meets a football manager she tends to hate them.”
“I do not!” I protest.
“Yes you do, well, what about that time you told me you met Jose Mourinho and apparently you told him: ‘special, your grey hairs will say otherwise.’ And then there was Harry Redknapp, who one day didn’t wear a suit, so you criticised his fashion. Sven you told that he should where make-up to distract from his bald head problem. And then you can’t forget the war you’ve had going on with Rafa for ages.”
“Fernando, I may have had the odd problem with some managers, but this is different. Phil Jagielka, I accept your proposal, only if I’m able to get my revenge on Rapper first.”
“Seriously? You’re putting revenge on Rafa before this?”
“Yes.” I turned to Sami. “How would you like to help me get revenge on Rapper?”
“Summer, he’s my manager, he won’t play me anymore if I do that.”
“I’ll make you a deal. If I’m ever single again then I will sleep with you.”
It was in that moment when Fernando jumped in. “You know how I was saying you were no longer naïve, basically saying you were grown up?” I nodded my head. “Well, I take that back.” And not only Fernando, Phil Jagielka was jumping in too. He was shocked. “Summer, you can’t make wagers like that when were still together.”
“Why not? I know were going to be together forever.” Suddenly he went quiet and Sami was contemplating it, but of course the slightest chance he’d get to sleep with me… Well, any woman for that matter, he’d take. “Ok.” He agrees.
I turned to Sami. “Right Sami, we’ve got to be clever, we’ve got to go undercover and…” It’s in that moment that Fernando cuts in.
“Summer, why don’t you just write in the Sun about Rapper, I mean Rafa going to a pole dancing club.”
“Or that’s good.” I sighed and turned to Sami.
“Sorry Sami, it looks like your never going to get into my pants.”
“Oh! What does it take? I will pay you ten million pounds.”
“No.”
“What if…” He began and then started whispering some stuff in my ears. Stuff that shocked me, but also made me curious. Suddenly I went quiet and Sami was grinning at me. “You like what you just heard didn’t you.” I blushed and turned away from him and got a disapproving look off of Phil Jagielka. “If only I was single.” I began and got another disapproving look off Phil Jagielka, so quickly got back on track. “If only I was single then I’d be able to tell you that would not happen because it wouldn’t.”
“Really?” Sami asks me, raising one of his eyebrows whilst smiling seductively at me. I let out a little laugh. “Sami, for a girl to sleep with you they’ve got to be desperate, stupid, naïve and have low self esteem. I will not be one of those girls that will just add an extra number to the already large figure of girls you’ve slept with.”
“Oh, come on!” Sami complained.
And as he did so Phil Jagielka was smiling my way, he was proud of me. Alex grins at me too and gives me a hi five. “You know, why do I hang out with all of you?!” Sami protests. “I’m going to go and have sex!” He then storms off and starts talking to some girl.
I turn to Phil Jagielka and take hold of his hand in mine underneath the table. “Do you fancy helping me pick out an outfit?” I offer and before he can answer Alex is sitting next to me taking hold of my other hand. “Actually I’ve got a better idea, I’m helping you find something to wear.”
“But…” I begin.
“Come on!” She says and practically drags me out of the bar and past shops until we walk straight into Topshop. She turns to me. “Phil Jagielka is sweet to you.” She states.
“He is.” I agree.
“Your not going to end up with him.”
“Excuse me?!” I pause. “Let me guess because Fernando is the model and Liverpool player I’m going to end up with him?”
“Not necessarily. Let’s just say I know who you’re meant to be with and when you figure it out too come and find me.”
“What?! You can’t know that.”
“Yes I can.”
“I’m going to stay with Phil Jagielka, I know I am. You know that feeling you get when you just know you’re supposed to be with them and that one day you’re going to marry them. Well, someday I’m going to marry Phil Jagielka.”
“Your forgetting one thing.”
“What’s that?” I wonder.
“Kids.”
“Kids?” I ask.
“Yeah, what‘s your opinion on that?”
“For a while I thought maybe when I‘m thirty-five, but now I don‘t think I want them at all.”
“Summer, deep down you’ve never wanted kids and what strikes me is that just by looking at Phil Jagielka even I can tell that’s what he’ll want.”
“Look, why are we talking about this? Phil Jagielka and I have just gotten together. This isn’t important.”
“Maybe not now, but it will be and I think you should tell him sooner rather than later, otherwise you’ll be stringing him along.”
“I will tell him, just not yet, maybe if our relationship leans that way then I’ll tell him the truth.”
“Well, good luck because when that day comes he’s going to be heartbroken.”
And after having this talk we finally started choosing outfits. I tried on dresses, shorts and skirts and after about twenty outfits later I was standing in front of the mirror in this lovely, long, beautiful rose pink gown. Alex gave me the thumbs up, I got into my normal clothes and bought the dress. After that I went home where I didn’t start getting ready for the party first. Instead I began by typing up my essay about Rapper. Unfortunately it meant that I had to use his real name though.
The Pervert Manager
Hello Readers!
As some of you may know I tend to write the fashion articles, where I help your boring lives by putting some fashion sparkle into them. Unfortunately, today will be different, instead I’ll be revealing the truth about a football manager and that manager is Rafa Benitez.
If anyone of my readers tuned into yesterday’s Sun then you’d have seen provocative pictures of me looking very sexy. You’d have seen a picture of Sami kissing me and you’d have seen a big headline referring to me as a stripper. Well, all is not what it seems…
First of all, I’m filling in for a friend and being a pole dancer for a week, I am in no way a stripper (although that does seem fun and I’d like to try it one day). As for the picture of Sami, he kissed me, not the other way round. To be honest I’m going out with Phil Jagielka now, I’ll never be desperate enough to jump into bed with womanizer Sami Hyypia!
Anyway… Enough about me. I’m boring. The real news is of Rafa Benitez. How did he get those pictures do you ask? Well, for him to have got those pictures of me at the pole dancing club well he’d have to be there wouldn’t he? And he got mad the moment I snapped a picture of him there, pictured below. It was in the Pole dancing club where Rafa Benitez asked for lap dances and a private show, yet isn’t he the married man?! He even shoved money in my bra! The truth is Rafa Benitez is an animal, a pervert and you should all stay away because you may be next on his hit list.
My name is Summer Davies and I speak nothing but the truth…
My essay was complete and sent to the Sun. Was it harsh? Yes. Did Rapper need this many complaints? He did indeed. Was a lot of what I said lies? Yes. However, the Sun newspaper will appreciate lies as much as the next newspaper.
So I got myself ready for where Phil Jagielka was taking me. I couldn’t believe I was going to a dance thing, let alone an Everton one. And once I was ready in my light pink gown there was a knock on my downstairs door. I knew I was ready. My legs carried me down the stairs and I pulled open the front door, only to have Phil Jagielka stop and stare. He was speechless, I think in all our friendship I’d never made Phil Jagielka speechless. “Summer…” He began. “You made such a big effort.” He states and pauses again. “You look beautiful.” He tells me before pressing his lips to my cheek.
He takes hold of my hand and leads me to the limousine out front, before opening the door for me. I sit down in the limo and Phil Jagielka gets in next to me, moments later the limo starts to move and Phil Jagielka moves an arm around me. “For a long time I’ve wanted to take you somewhere like this, but couldn’t.”
“I’m glad you thought I was worth waiting for.” I reply and move in closer to Phil Jagielka, his arms going around me. His lips kissing my cheek. “Summer, I’d wait all eternity if it meant I could get a single date with you.”
Suddenly, what Alex spoke to me about earlier was getting into my mind. What if he wants kids and I’m dragging him down? The next thing I know, the words are leaving my mouth. “Do you want kids?”
“Of course I do someday.” I go back to being quiet, only for Phil Jagielka to continue. “If you ever wanted to have kids me with me Summer that would make me the happiest person alive.”
I push what Alex said to the back of my mind and finally the limo arrives outside of this party. Phil Jagielka leads me up to the room where we walk straight into see waiters delivering drinks. Everton players walking around looking what food and drinks they can grab. Also, they’re chatting like there’s no tomorrow. “Right, I’m going to talk to a few friends and their girlfriends and I’ll come back so we can all talk to you.”
“Ok.” I smiled and so Phil Jagielka was on his way to his friends, only for the moment he left for someone to stand in front of me. “So you’re the girlfriend Phil Jagielka won’t stop talking about.”
“We’ve only just got together.”
“Yeah, but he’s been speaking about you non stop for months now.”
“Oh…” I began, a little uneasily.
“I’m David Moyes, the Everton manager.”
“Summer Davies.” I respond smiling and shake his hand.
David Moyes looks me up and down for a long moment, before speaking again. “Summer, can I offer you some advice?”
“Umm… Ok.”
“The truth is, I’ve seen you falling out of pubs and clubs wearing next to nothing. I’ve seen what you did to poor Fernando be reported in the press and I’ve seen your big war with Rafa. And Phil Jagielka is a nice guy who has bad judgement and if you ask me I don’t believe you’re WAG material.”
“What? Why?”
“Do I need to spell it out for you? You can wear the nice clothes, but your just so low class. Summer, one day Phil Jagielka is going to find a real girl and that girl is not you. So break up with him whilst it‘s still early days.”
“Oh really? Well, in that case, I’m going to do to you exactly what I did to Rapper.” I respond and take hold of his face in my hands before kissing him. People saw and looked on shocked. I pulled away from him and Mr Moyes was speechless, I smiled and made my way over to Phil Jagielka before introducing myself to his friends.
After a bit of talking Phil Jagielka takes me to one side. “Summer, may I ask why you kissed my manager?”
“Phil Jagielka, he is no different to Rapper!”
“Oh, not this again. Can you really not get on with any managers?”
“You should have heard what he said!”
“What did he say?” Phil Jagielka wondered.
“Well, he described me as low class. I could have not bothered coming here and gone pole dancing, but no. I did come here and he just had to give me abuse.”
“I see.” Phil Jagielka responded.
The next thing I know he turns away from me and makes his way over to David Moyes. What is he doing? I think to myself and the next thing I know I hear Phil Jagielka say: “Hey David!” David turns around and the next thing I know Phil Jagielka punches David across the face hard. And David gets floored, completely floored. “That’s for calling my girlfriend low class!” He called out before walking by my side and taking my hand. He leads us out of the party and as we walked to the outside people looked on in shock and others were smirking, trying to stifle back a laugh.
Phil Jagielka and I got in our limo and the moment we were sat down I threw my arms around him. I then kissed him on the lips and laughed. “Never in my life have I had someone defend me like that before.”
“What? Even Fernando didn’t defend you?”
“He used to laugh at some of the things I did, but when we started going out he would’ve never defended me like you just did.”
“Well, I won’t have anyone talking about my girlfriend like that even if it costs my place on the team.” He states and pulls me close to him.
After that awful party Phil Jagielka and I go somewhere a little more high class, well, in our eyes anyway. We went to our local pub with all our local friends. As we sat down everyone looked on in shock and Sami was first to talk: “I thought you two were going to some super cool party, which by the way I didn’t get invited to.”
“Well, there was a change of plan when Phil Jagielka punched his manager.” I inform everyone.
Fernando’s mouth hangs open upon hearing this. “You actually did that?! It’ll cost your place on the team.”
“Summer means a lot more to me than football.” Phil Jagielka states to him and Fernando nods his head and seems to go off in his own world. “Right this first round is on me.” I say and everyone starts shouting what drinks they want at me and both Phil Jagielka and I go to the bar, well, before we do once again Sami Hyypia asks me to sleep with him and once again I’m left saying no…
Alex’s Point of View:
I turned to Sami discreetly whilst everyone was chatting whilst Summer got the drinks. Suddenly it dawned on me. “You like Summer.” He furrows his eyebrows at me for a moment, before looking around and then looking at me. “No I don’t.” He replies.
“Yes you do.”
“No, I really don’t.”
“I don’t know you too well, but you do like her. Why else would you be asking her for sex all the time?”
“I ask everyone for sex. I’d have sex with you if you were open to an affair.”
“Sami, stop lying. All night you’ve been hitting on girls and she walks through the door and you stop. Coincidence. I think not.”
“I would happily hit on more girls now, but I’ve scouted all the talent and quite frankly I’m not impressed.”
“Come on Sami! Just admit it!”
“If I admitted that I’d be lying, so no.”
After he said this I went quiet for a little bit, but started up the conversation again. “If you just admit it I’ll help you have a chance with her.”
“She is with Phil Jagielka. I’m not going to chase after her. Maybe I’ll chase after her for sex and nothing more, but I’m not interested in anything more than that.”
“Oh, Sami Hyypia, you just can’t admit that you finally have feelings for someone.”
“That’s because I don’t. End of discussion.”
In that moment it was the end of the discussion, but as Summer took a seat next to Sami and then Phil Jagielka sat next to her, I saw what happened as Summer passed Sami a pint of lager. Anyone else would’ve thought that Sami was being clumsy when she passed him the lager because it dropped to the floor and smashed. However, what I saw was very different. As she passed him the pint of lager, there fingers brushed and this shocked Sami, making him drop the glass. “I’m sorry Sami I’ll get you another drink.” Summer tells him.
“No need.” He replies. “Umm… Watch your feet, you don’t want to step on any glass in those shoes. Was there anything you wanted from the bar?”
“I’m fine thank you.” She grins and Sami then walks to the bar, buys his own drink before asking for a dust pan and brush.
I go up to Sami’s side and say: “After what just happened there you can’t deny the fact that you have feelings for her. Before Sami could say anything to deny it I walked back over to the table…
So last night Phil Jagielka and I had finally gotten together after wrestling against our feelings for each other for months. Suddenly we were together and I was on Cloud 9.
