Ruin Everything

Prologue

“Can I trust you?” I asked quietly, my voice nothing more than a whisper in fear that the walls might hear. Walls are awful gossips, don’t you know?

“You know you can,” he replied, just as quietly. I buried my head into his neck, breathing in the scent I’d grown so accustomed to, that not to smell it was almost offensive. His soft touch brushed across my shoulder, pushing my long hair behind me. “You always can.”

“Okay,” I said gently, turning my eyes up to meet his dark brown, intense gaze. He had the most extraordinary eyes. They had the ability to turn my knees to jelly, and cause my independence to vanish.

“Yeah?” He moved in closer. I smiled in the dark. The only light came from the crack in the curtains, the streetlamp’s light streaming in and casting a single ray of light between us. His warm and minty breath hit my face, he was so close.

“Yeah,” I just barely croaked out. My voice had gone hoarse, dying in my throat. There was something nerve wracking about his proximity, but not in a bad way. I was nervous, but in a butterflies kind of way. I wanted this. I wanted him. I was just too anxious to say so.

“I won’t hurt you,” he promised.

“I trust you. Just, be gentle,” I requested. He pressed a soft, passionate kiss into my lips, sliding a hand up to the side of my face, his thumb stroking my cheek. My cheeks flared with heat as he moved me slowly backwards on my mattress. He broke the kiss to look at me, the stream of light laying perfectly over my face.

“You can stop this, at any time, if you feel uncomfortable,” he reminded me. I chuckled and gently grabbed his dark brown hair.

“Alex?”

“Yes?”

“Shut up and kiss me.”

“Yes, ma’am.”
