Sequel: Exposure

Flustered

Light in your eyes, I can’t even speak.

Do you even know how you make me weak?

“You’re doing it again.” Sierra murmured, lightly tapping her pencil against the table. Sam, who had not taken her eyes off of one Damon Salvatore, shrugged in response.

“Maybe he’ll get so angered by my constant staring, he’ll see fit to punish me.” The perverse grin on Sam’s face made Sierra chuck her rolled up straw wrapper at her. Sam cocked her head to the side and it bounced off the booth and onto the floor.

“Your aim is about as pathetic at the puppy dog look Matt gets whenever Elena and Stefan are together.” Sam jammed her fork into her salad and flipped a page in her textbook casually as Sierra gasped.

“Be nice.”

Sam rolled her eyes and her best friend chewed on her lower lip, going back to her pre-calculus homework. Math was difficult.

“This is impossible,” Sierra mumbled, rubbed her temples. “Why did we decide to come here instead of doing our work at home?”

“Because you want to stare at Tyler Lockwood’s arms of sex.”

Both girls turned their attention to the pool table where the dark haired boy was currently playing with some other kids from their school. Sierra turned her gaze back to Sam and glared.

“I do not.”

“You do so and you know it. Though, I really don’t know what you see in him.”

“Well, at least now you know how I feel about your obsession with Damon the Demon.”

Sam’s gazed flicked to the bar and back to the brown haired girl across from her.

“All I want is for him to ravish me on the pool table. Then, and only then, will I be satisfied.”

Sierra couldn’t help but giggle at her friend’s statement before casually looking back to the pool table. Tyler was in the middle of a shot and high-fived his friend when it went into it’s respected hole. His gaze flicked to hers for a moment and he nodded in acknowledgement. Sierra’s face began to burn lightly and she flashed him a quick, nervous smile before ducking her head.

“Smooth.” Sam muttered, amused, and it was then that Sierra smacked her with her notebook. Unbeknownst to both girls, Tyler’s gaze lingered on their table for a moment before going back to the pool table, a smirk slowly making it’s way to his face.

Sierra was idly doodling in her the margin of her notebook. Her English teacher was assigning homework about a book she had already read twice. She began to pay attention again when he started talking about their homework that was due that day. She flipped a page in her notebook and carefully tore out the perfectly written assignment.

“I want you to turn to the person behind you and discuss your answers while I finish grading your quizzes.” Her teacher then sat down and the class was consumed by the sounds of scooting chairs and the student's whispers.

Sierra’s heart fluttered in her chest as Tyler Lockwood turned to face her. He grinned at her before placing his homework on her desk. His writing was messy, like a typical boy's, and she gingerly picked the paper up.

“I followed your advice and ‘actually tried this time’.” His dark eyes were twinkling with mirth and his tone was playful. At the beginning of the year Tyler did his homework, just not very well. Every time him and Sierra were forced to work together, she would mildly scold him and urge him to do better.

“We’ll see.” Was all she trusted herself to say before going over it. She heard Tyler snort in response and couldn’t help but smile. Sierra hated talking around the boy and chose to only speak in short sentences. She would always get tongue tied and end up blushing if she said anything more than one or two words.

They spent several minutes in silence as each of them read the other one’s work. Sierra finished a few seconds before Tyler and opted to watch him read. His hair was messy and his upper body looked better than usual in his tight black shirt. Sierra quickly looked away as he finished and coughed.

“Great job.” Sierra handed him back his work and he nodded.

“Yeah, you too. You’re really good at this.” Tyler shook her homework for emphasis and she shrugged, unable to keep her grin from surfacing. She was forever smiling around him and hoped he didn’t notice.

“Thanks.” Looking around the room, she realized that everyone was still working and sighed to herself. Sierra turned back to Tyler and rested her elbows on the table.

“How’s football going?” The team had gotten a new coach after the tragic death of their old one and she was genuinely curious to hear about Tyler’s opinion. The boy shrugged and immediately began telling her a story about one of his practices. She nodded and watched him as he talked on and smiled fondly.

“Overall, he’s a pretty cool guy.” Tyler finished and Sierra nodded.

“That’s good.” She didn’t really know what else to say and was fishing her brain for another question when her teacher began talking.

“Alright, pass the homework up!”

Papers ruffled as everyone began passing their homework to the person in front of them. Sierra turned to grab the papers from the person behind her and turned again to give them to Tyler. As he reached for them, his hand touched hers and she froze.

Sierra glanced up and her brown eyes locked with his own dark ones. She quickly snatched her hand away and looked down, missing the smirk and amused glint in his eyes before he turned to the front.

The bell rang soon after that and a blushing Sierra left the room quickly, leaving a very pleased Tyler Lockwood behind.
