Steph’s POV
I was grateful for Nick taking the news well. I half expected for him to pack his bags and just leave then and there. The way he had reacted back at the hospital and previous conversations about starting a family informed me he had wanted to a wait a while before children. It was still properly sinking in to me but i knew that i would have to tell work colleagues and also my family, including Brandon about the good news.
I had a feeling Brandon would take it well he would probably treat the kids like brothers or sisters instead of niece and nephew but that would be fine, he was only a kid himself after all. As i sat cuddled into nick’s side, his hand resting on my stomach my cell phone started ringing.
“Robinson”
“Hey, I’m heading back with Brandon now was wondering if you wanted me to bring him around for an hour before he went to bed?”
“It’s ok, you get him home he needs his sleep, we can see him tomorrow.”
Lottie agreed that was best and ended the call. Nick soon got up making sure i had a bottle of water to drink and also some food and plenty of rest. Eventually we headed to bed and got comfortable wrapped in each other’s arms.
As we lay there Nick placed a hand to my cheek kissing my lips gently.
“Why did you think it was the worst news to me. What did you think i would do?”
“I know you wanted to wait for kids and not have it thrown on you like this. I thought you would leave me.”
“I would never leave you, it’s half my fault you’re pregnant don’t forget. There is also the fact that i would love you and it’s that reason why that i would never leave you.”
I couldn’t help but smile as i pulled myself closer to Nick’s bare torso just enjoying the moment as we lay there.
“When are we going to tell everyone?”
“We could phone Anna tomorrow, before we tell Brandon and then tell work at the beginning of shift when they are actually alert?”
It seemed like a good plan and before long i settled into a peaceful sleep. The next morning however i was soon stood in the bathroom my stomach feeling rather sensitive. I was grateful forever to feel nick’s hand against my back as he made sure i was ok. Once i felt better i got myself dressed and Nick did the same.
It would be 9 in the evening over in England and i soon grabbed my phone and dialled Anna’s number. It didn’t take long for her to pick up and she seemed happy to hear from me. We spoke for a little while about general things including her asking how Brandon was getting on before she asked why i had phone at this time. I sat down on the sofa and placed the phone on speaker as Nick held my one hand squeezing it gently.
“I have some news to tell you.”
“it’s not bad, your not hurt are you, Lottie is ok isn’t she?”
“yeah mum everyone is fine, it’s good news. Me and Nick are going to be parents to twins.”
“Oh wow, that is excellent news, when did you find out?”
“yesterday.”
“Oh i am so glad for you both. Nick you make sure you look after the four of them now more than ever.”
“I will Miss Robinson, don’t you worry.”
“I have some good news of my own. I shall be back over in Vegas in three days time to see you all, i will give you the bigger piece of news then.”
I responded informing mum i would let Brandon and Lottie know about the good news and soon said my goodbye’s. The next person to tell was Brandon. Lottie would be around soon having already organised a time yesterday when she phoned. When she did arrive with Brandon and without Greg, who was still sleeping i smiled as Brandon ran in and over to nick climbing up onto his lap hugging him.
“Nickkkkkk? Can we play with cars soon?”
“In a little bit, me and Steph have something to tell you first.”
Brandon looked intrigued as he sat in Nick’s arms his head against Nick’s chest as he turned to face me, Lottie sitting in an arm chair.
“Brandon, you know how i was in hospital yesterday?”
Brandon nodded in response.
“Well they told me some news that you might like, but first i am going to show you a picture.”
I pulled out the scan photo and handed it to Nick who showed it Brandon.
“That is what i looked like in mummy’s tummy she showed me a photo before, whose tummy is that.”
“It’s my tummy Brandon, Me and Nick are going to be having two babies, so you are going to be uncle Brandon.”
“But you haven’t got a big tummy like other mummy’s with babies inside them.”
“Not yet but i will have soon. When they are born if you like you can help me and Nick look after them but you will have to stay at Lottie and Greg’s more then as well for a while as me and Nick will be tired a lot.”
“That’s ok i can get Greg to play with me more, as long as i can still play with you to sometimes Nick.”
“You can for a while yet, oh and Brandon when you come to work tonight you can’t tell grandpa Grissom or anyone at work until me and Nick say you can. It’s our big secret, you can’t even tell Greg until we say, that a deal?”
“And if you manage to keep it a big secret we shall buy you some sweets and some new cars for you and nick and Greg to play with alter.”
I smiled at Lottie’s addition agreeing that was a good deal. Brandon hugged Nick before walking over hugging me and them patting my tummy gently. I couldn’t help but smile as he took in what was big news. I couldn’t believe how grown up he could be for his age at times. His mind was soon focused on getting Nick to play cars with him though and before long Greg had joined in. The three taking over the whole lounge carpet and kitchen as they made a huge race track leaving me and Lottie to sit with our feet up talking and watching TV.
