She Will Be Loved

It's Compromise That Moves Us Along

The Cullen household was lively. The spacious home hadn't been so filled with enthusiasm since the graduation party last year for Edward’s graduating class. A group of people danced in the living room, in the dining room the newlyweds were receiving their well-deserved congratulations, and the other Cullens were hard at work in the kitchen, getting more snacks and drinks out to their human guests with haste.

The only Cullen not helping prep food in their state-of-the-art kitchen was Quinn. After being ushered into the house by Esme, she retreated to the comfort of her room, opting to exchange her high heels for a more sensible, comfortable pair of flats.

As she slipped them on, her toes wriggled freely in their new home and she sighed in relaxation. It had been a great day; her brother married the girl of his dreams, the ceremony had gone off without incident, and to top it off, she had gotten to see Jacob.

Jacob, she thought, the russet-skinned boy seeming to pop up into her mind. I wonder where he went to?

She rose from the bed and sauntered towards the sliding door that led to the balcony, taking a quick glance at the backyard before her. Her eyes seemed to connect almost instantly with the one body that occupied the space, and she smiled when she saw it was that very same boy that caused her to smile in the first place.

As she saw his composure and how he seemed to slowly pace back and forth, she began to become concerned. He wouldn't have been doing that if he was fine. She let her curiosity get the better of her as she opened up the sliding door and stepped onto the outside balcony, continuing to gaze upon the boy below her.

There was nothing on Jacob's mind but the fact that his imprint, the girl he loved and swore to protect, was already a part of his dangerous world, and had been for quite possibly some time now. Not only was she part of it, but she lived in it - with the Cullens no less!

He was frustrated, and to be honest, that was more than likely an understatement. He should have known, should have paid more attention. However, looking back, there were almost no clues, no evidence to prove that she had ties to the vampire family. How could he have possibly known?

There was hardly ever a whiff of leech on her. As he thought about it, the scent could have possibly been overpowered or rubbed off as she went about her day, and even if there was a hint of it, it was also possible that she could have merely crossed paths with one of them as it was their territory. The more he thought of it, the more ill he seemed to become, the more he wanted to spill the contents of his stomach onto the floor.

“You don’t look too good there, Jake,”

Quinn’s soft, concerned voice fell upon his ears and he spun around to see her standing upon a balcony, the moonlight reflecting off her body, making her appear to be glowing. Never before had Jacob seen such an angelic sight before. As he took in her appearance, he gulped somewhat audibly and he was sure she must’ve heard it too as she softly giggled to herself. “Just thinking…” he replied, not knowing what else to say.

“Looks more than ‘just thinking’ to me,” she retorted, causing Jacob to chuckle and shrug his shoulders. “Come up to my room,” she ordered. “Go up the stairs, turn left, and it’s the last door on the right.”

Quinn returned back into the warmth of her room, not waiting for Jacob’s reply. The tanned shape-shifter softly sighed and scratched the back of his head in uncertainty of what would happen next, though he would be lying if he claimed there wasn’t some part of him that wasn’t excited about going into her actual room. Too bad it’s inside the Cullens’ house, he thought.

Sighing, Jacob walked towards the Cullen home in silence, entering the house unnoticed. His large body maneuvered through the crowd of people and ascended the stairs silently, following Quinn's directions and knocking upon her door. She opened it in mere seconds, shoving a small notebook in his face and allowing his eyes to scan over her neat handwriting briefly.

Don't say anything.

His eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, but nevertheless he nodded his head and cooperated with her order. She moved to the side and Jacob stepped in, closing the door after himself as Quinn scribbled furiously on the sheet.

Welcome to my room. Make yourself at home.

Jacob smiled as she stared up at him cutely from behind the pad. He motioned for her to hand it over and she did so after flipping to a brand new page.

You have a nice room. It’s big and clean.

The two teens sat down upon her bed side by side, and all was quiet until Quinn took hold of the pen and paper again, scribbling away once more. Soon, a conversation filled the lines of the paper.

I suppose I have some explaining to do?

You suppose correctly.

First, know that you are the best tutor that a tutee could ever ask for, and that I never meant to lie to you about where I live. It just sort of happened. You see, Carlisle and Esme don't know that I have a tutor, let alone that I'm failing my classes. I just don't want to let them down after all they've done for me. When you said that we should study at my place, I asked my brother to get me an apartment so we could do it there so they wouldn't find out. Jacob, could we please continue studying at the apartment? I just don't want to let my folks down.

Well, I'm a little let down that you couldn't have told me your parents didn't know about me. I would have understood.

I'm reeeeaaaally sorry, Jake!

It's fine, Quinn. I understand. Besides, I could never be mad at you.

Thank you so much, Jake!

Overjoyed, Quinn couldn't help but show it to Jacob with a quick kiss upon the cheek, immediately lifting his spirits as well. He smiled, instantly forgetting the fact that he was in the presence of leeches, and kissed her on the lips in response to her own action, causing her to blush madly. As her heart pounded within her chest, she was secretly hoping that no one in her family could hear the soft sound of their lips against one another, even if it was brief.

Taking out the pad one final time, Quinn scribbled down more words.

You know, I think I’m going to have to tell my brother about who is tutoring me now.

“I’m sure we can figure something out.” He reassured, placing his hand upon her own comfortingly.
