She Will Be Loved

And Wound Up At Your Door

The car was pulled over on the side of the road. The engine still running, though resided in park as the driver searched through her glove compartment. If she knew her sister as well as she did, she knew that the pixie resembling beauty would stash a certain small pouch inside.

"I knew it." Quinn chuckled upon finding it. She unzipped the bag and her eyes immediately noticed the over abundance of make up. "I think she tried to stuff too much in here, though."

Quinn noticed a small white piece of paper near the bottom of the bag and pulled it out slowly to make sure nothing fell out.

You didn't actually think that I would let my little sister go out to see the guy she likes without some make up, did you? Go get him, Quinn!
xoxo, Alice.

She smiled and put the piece of paper back inside the pouch and just got out some liquid eyeliner and mascara, applying them lightly. She never went overboard when she wore make up. In fact, she never wore much make up at all since she never really had a reason to wear the stuff. Today was different though, she was going to see Jacob, and she wanted to do something that could make just a little difference in her appearance for the better.

After putting everything back into the glove compartment, Quinn got back onto the asphalt, bumping her head along to the tunes that played from her radio. Just a little while longer before I get to Jacob's. She grinned.

There were a few light scrapes upon the front door of the Black household. They were so light that a normal human's hearing would be barely able to pick them up, however, Jacob Black was obviously no mere human. His enhanced hearing picked the knocks up quite easily.

"Coming!"

Jacob quickly slipped over his usual white form fitting shirt and went darting to the door, not wanting to keep whoever was on the outside waiting for too long. He ran a hand through his hair and reached for the door, opening it up, his heart leaping in his chest at who he saw.

"Quinn!"

"Hey, Jacob," the girl sweetly replied, giving a soft laugh at his surprised reaction. "Surprised to see me? It's twelve-thirty exactly."

His eyes glanced at the clock that hung on the wall and he was surprised that time had flown by. "Oh, I didn't know that it was that late." Jacob muttered. "I'm ready, though! Don't worry. The barbecue's at Sam and Emily's place, it's not too far away, just a five minute drive. Want to take my car or yours?"

"I thought your car was broken from yesterday...?" Quinn murmured.

"Oh... yeah, that's right." Jacob laughed, scratching the back of his head.

"It's decided, we'll take mine." Quinn laughed.

"Sounds good to me."

"Okay, so when did you want to leave?"

"You can go ahead and get into the car. I'm just going to get my shoes on and lock the door."

Quinn nodded her head in understanding and went off towards the car. Jacob bounded back into his room and slipped on his shoes with ease. He checked himself and soon was heading out of the house and into Quinn's car.

"You ready?" Quinn asked.

"Yup." He replied. Though I think I should be asking you that with the way the guys are.

Everything was peaceful outside. A few birds chirped and sang melodic tunes and a nice cool breeze made the trees sway, as if they were dancing along to the music the birds supplied. At least everything had been peaceful before someone heard the laughs of two trouble makers...

"Paul!" Emily shouted, waving a pair of tongs in frustration. "You and Jared better not wreck the tables Sam set up! You both have already knocked over my potato salad!" Emily's tongs then were pointing towards a plastic bowl that was flipped over, all of it's contents spilled out, and a depressed looking Seth picking up the pieces of food with napkins, wondering what he did wrong to be made to pick up someone else's mess.

"Okay, okay, Emily!" Paul replied ending his playful wrestling match with Jared by giving him a shove back, making him land into a table and cause it to flip.

Emily glared cruelly at the boy who was now laughing hysterically at his friend who was cussing him out. "PAUL!!"

"Oh, shit!" Paul laughed, running off into the tree brush and vanishing from sight.

"Jared! Pick up the table. Now!"

"Yes, ma'am."

Emily sighed from annoyance and exhaustion as she turned around and began to turn over the pieces of ribs on the barbecue pit Sam had set up outside. "I honestly don't know why you boys are so darn excited today." She mused. "You're more rowdy then I've ever seen."

"Sam didn't tell you?" Seth pipped up.

"Tell me what?"

"About Jacob and who he's bringing." Embry added.

"No... who is he bringing?"

"His imprint!"

"He imprinted?" Emily's mouth now slightly agape as she looked over at the pack, waiting for a confirmation.

"Yup!" Quil nodded, holding his own imprint, Claire, as she took a nap in his arms. "He told us about her last night while on patrol."

"Oh, wow..." Emily mumbled, a grin soon coming upon her lips. "I'm so happy for him. He deserves this. Now he can move on from Bella and be truly happy for once. What is she like? Do you guys know?"

All the boys shook their heads.

"Nope, but of course Jacob thinks she's the best thing since sliced bread." Embry snickered. "I swear, she was on his mind the entire night."

"Do you guys hear that?" Jared asked.

"Yeah." Quil nodded. "Think it's them?"

"Probably."

A few seconds later a silver Audi came driving through and parked on the side of the road. All eyes were on the car and the two inside of it.

Paul came out from the trees and whistled. "Damn, girl's loaded!"

Jacob was the first to get out of the car. The trunk opened and he got out four aluminum trays that held the food with foil as a cover. Finally, the driver's door opened and the girl stepped out.

She had fair skin, light brown hair, and they had to admit that the blue eyes she had were pretty striking. The brown dress she wore swayed with every step she took and she closed the trunk to her car, locking it and putting the keys away into her small purse.

"Jake, let me take half." She insisted.

"No, no, no, I got it."

"Jake, c'mon, let me take two."

"It's fine, Quinn. I have them."

"Jacob... the fruit isn't going to look nice since you have the potato salad on top of it. Let me take the fruit."

"Fine," Jacob sighed, and then let Quinn take hold of two of the four containers. "Is it heavy?"

"No, it's not, now stop worrying." She chuckled.

They finally started to make their way over and they could all hear the girl's heart rate speed up. She was incredibly nervous and that made them all smile and lightly laugh.

"Hey guys," Jacob greeted. "This is Quinn."

"Hi, it's nice to meet you guys." Quinn smiled shyly.

"Hey," The guys casually greeted her.

"Quinn," Jacob called. "This is Quil, Embry, Seth, Jared, Paul and Emily at the pit. The little girl in Quil's arms is Claire, she's Emily's niece and Quil's just taking care of her for Emily right now."

"That's really sweet of you." Quinn commented.

"Nah, she's nothing I can't handle." He smiled.

"So you're Quinn," One of the guys mused. Quinn thought Jacob said his name was Paul.

"Um, yeah," Quinn nodded. "Nice to meet you. Paul, right?"

"That's my name." He smiled. "So Jacob's tutoring you right? In all subjects?"

"No, just in math and history."

"Oh, well, maybe you're going to need tutoring in another subject soon."

"What subject would that be?"

"Sex Ed, baby!"

"Paul..." Jacob growled through gritted teeth.

"Paul, shut up will you? You're making her uncomfortable!" A woman ordered. Her medium-length black hair fell upon her shoulders neatly and her dark brown eyes glared at the boy for what seemed to be the umpteenth time that day. She quickly flipped over the pieces of meat and walked over to Quinn and Jacob. "I'm sorry for him, he's incredibly insensitive. Sometimes he acts like he has no brain." She chuckled. "I'm Emily, it's nice to meet you, Quinn."

"It's nice to meet you, too, Emily. And don't worry, I have brothers and I definitely know that guys can be a little... rough around the edges sometimes."

"Hey, we're not all like that." Jacob defended.

"I never said that every guy was rough." Quinn smiled.

"Well, you never said some so you must've meant all."

"Yeah-huh, sure I did." Quinn rolled her eyes, trying to suppress a smile. "Oh, I brought food, Emily. It's potato salad and fruit salad."

"Oh, that's so sweet of you, Quinn, you didn't have to go through all the trouble though. But thanks so much. You're actually a bit of a lifesaver. You see Paul knocked over my own bowl of potato salad."

"Well then I'm glad that I could help out somehow. Where can Jacob and I put these?"

"Oh, just on the table, Quinn. The food will be ready in about another hour. Just make yourself at home." She answered, her attention soon switching towards the guys. "And you all be nice and don't say something stupid."

"Got it." The boys chorused.

"Go, go, go, go, go!" Seth shouted at Quinn who was biting her lip as she did her best to concentrate on the task at hand, which was beating Paul at Guitar Hero II on the song, "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against The Machine.

"You're not helping me, Seth..." Quinn murmured.

"What's the matter, Quinn? Afraid you're gonna lose to my awesome skills?"

"Nope, besides you don't have any skills at all."

Paul glared at the television as he continued to play the plastic guitar by pressing the colored buttons and strumming. Quinn hummed the song to herself and was able to keep up better with the notes that fell down the screen. It was a close call. Both players were doing exceptionally well and most were shocked that Quinn was able to keep up with Paul on Expert.

They both played the final note and sighed of relief. Paul flopped backwards onto the couch and Quinn stayed standing, shaking her hands in the air to get the feeling back into her fingers that were somewhat numb at the tips. The final standings were shown and Quinn had beaten Paul by having one more note on a streak.

"Told you so, Paul."

"Whatever, Quinn, I let you win. It's only natural of a man to let a woman win."

"Alright, whatever helps you sleep at night."

Paul shook his head and stood up. "Speaking of sleep, I'm heading home. See you guys later."

"Yeah, same here." Jared announced, walking with his friend to the door. "Bye guys. Nice meeting you, Quinn. Paul would say so too, but he's still upset about losing to you."

One by one people left and soon it was only Sam, Emily, Jacob and Quinn inside the house.

"It's getting late," Jacob whispered to Quinn who was leaning into his chest, his arm wrapped securely around her shoulders. "What time do you have to be home?"

"By midnight probably, I don't really have much of a curfew." Quinn answered. "What about you?"

"I don't have much of a curfew either, but we should probably get going since it's going to take you a while to get back to Forks."

"Good point."

After gathering their things, Jacob and Quinn headed back to her Audi and got inside the car, waving goodbye to Sam and Emily who stood at their porch, watching the car drive off. Halfway through the ride, it began to rain, it started off light though slowly began to become heavy. Finally Quinn pulled up to Jacob's house.

"Are you sure that you can drive home alright in the rain?"

"Yeah, probably. Maybe it will die down...?" Thunder boomed and a streak of white lightning sped across the dark gray sky. "Or it could get worse..." She mumbled.

"Why don't you ask your mom or dad if you can stay the night?" Jacob suggested. "You can sleep in my sisters' old room."

Quinn's phone vibrated with a new text and she opened it immediately. It was from Edward.

When are you coming home, Quinn?

Actually, I was thinking about spending the night at his house since it's raining. What do you think...?

No.

Why not?

He's a GUY.

And your point is...?

You CANNOT be serious, Quinn.

Edward, he's a nice guy. Trust me. Besides, he's offering his sisters' old room so it's not like we'll be sleeping in the same room.

I still don't like it, but I guess I have no choice. Just... be careful.

Thanks, Edward. I'm just going to shower and go straight to bed.

NO BATHING. Straight to bed. You can take a bath at Bella's on the way home.

Kidding.

And I'm just gripping my sides from laughter.

Oh get the stick out of your butt, Edward! Anyways, goodnight. I'll be heading home as soon as I wake up.

Sleep tight and I'll be waiting.

"I can stay the night." Quinn beamed.

"Great! Was that your mom or something?" He chuckled.

"No, protective older brother. Close, though."

"Alright, you ready to run for it?" Jacob grinned.

"I guess."

"Let's go!"

They both got out of the car quickly, though as soon as Quinn's wedges took the first few steps in the mud, she lost her balance though managed to stay on her feet. Jacob, who was already nearing his front door, turned and saw Quinn getting soaked to the bone.

"Jacob, I can't run in these shoes." She laughed.

Jacob laughed and ran back to Quinn, scooping her up into his arms and carrying her towards the door. He placed her down on her feet and then unlocked the door, both of them scurrying inside.

"Women and their shoes." Jacob muttered, a small grin on his lips.

"Hey, the shoes help complete the outfit."

"You'd look fine no matter what you wear. You could mismatch colors and you'd still look perfect."

Quinn smiled and blushed lightly. "You really think so?"

"I know so."

"Well... thanks."

"Sure, but what are we going to do about your clothes? They're soaked. You can't sleep in soaked clothes, Quinn."

"You know what? I have a change of clothes in the trunk of my car."

Jacob looked at Quinn, puzzled. "Why do you have an extra set of clothes?"

"I was wearing different clothes when a friend and I made the food. If I hadn't then this dress would be covered in food that went awol."

"I'll go get your clothes then." Jacob then went dashing out back into the wet weather and returned with a paper bag that he did his best to protect from the rain. "Here you go."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. Let me show you to the bathroom so you can change."

Quinn followed Jacob down the hallway and went into a bathroom, locking the door after herself. After changing back into her jeans and regular tee, she grabbed a towel from the rack and began to dry her hair. She placed the dress back into bag along with her slightly muddy wedges and waltzed out of the bathroom to find Jacob sitting in the living room, wearing only a pair of shorts, his muscles out and visible for her to gaze at.

Damn, he's ripped.

"You done?" He asked.

"Yup,"

"Follow me." He lead her back down the hall and into another room, where boxes upon boxes resided on the floor and on the twin sized bed. "What the...?" Jacob became confused. "What's all this crap...?"

"Just so you know, I'm completely fine with crashing on the couch."

"No, no, no. You're not sleeping on the couch. My dad and Sue must have moved some stuff in here while I was gone." He sighed. "You can have my bed, I'll sleep on the couch."

"Jake, you're not sleeping on the couch. You can sleep on the bed."

"You're not sleeping on the couch, Quinn."

"I'll sleep on the floor then."

"You're not sleeping on that either."

"Then I guess we're sharing a bed then, huh, Jacob?"

Jacob held back a grin. "I guess so." Jacob then led her towards his room and moved a few things that were on the floor out of the way with his foot. "Sorry about the mess."

"I don't mind," Quinn laughed.

Quinn got into the large bed first and Jacob got in after. Quinn got comfortable and so did Jacob. It felt right to be so close together. It was peaceful and Quinn felt like she was whole.

"Goodnight, Jake."

"'Night, Quinn." Jacob murmured into the back of Quinn's neck, causing goosebumps to erupt on her fair skin.

She grinned to herself at the way he made her react. Edward will kill me if he ever finds out that I'm sleeping in the same bed as Jacob. At that, Quinn's smile doubled in size.

This feeling was definitely worth dying for by her brother's hands.
