Silence of a Love Bat

No One Is Really Out

“Hey kids, here we go/Sex, hugs, rock n' roll/Fill your cup up/This is love in America” JTX, Love In America

There was no way in hell I was leaving this booth. They cornered me in between the window and Pete, so instead of being pushed into the glass I had to half sit on Pete and half sit on the bench. Joe had to sit next to Pete. Patrick of course didn’t say a word when a few light kicks hit his shins, and Pete wouldn’t dare move when I dug my elbow into his stomach…not one bit. But, who was complaining?

“Can we go already?” I asked, leaning my head on Pete’s shoulder. “You’ve been done for like twenty minutes now.”

“What, do you have plans?” Joe asked, drumming his fingers across the table. “I didn’t think you talked to anybody.”

I glared at him for a while. There was no need to make fun me, I was already dying trying to control myself, because blood lust is a bitch. “Please?” I pouted.

“You guys ready?” he asked.

Andy nodded, slowly sitting up and Patrick slid out next across from us. Joe hesitated for a few seconds, looking at Pete.

“Oh my god, Joe before the fucking world ends,” I groaned.

Pete gave him a small shove. “Go.”

“Alright, alright,” he laughed, quickly standing.

Pete took my hand before pulling me with him. It was nice to finally stretch. He gripped my fingers as we walked out, pulling me closer to him until we got into an alley.

“You didn’t kill anyone,” he noted.

“Always a good thing,” I smiled back.

All five of us kept walking, no destination really in mind. We hadn’t been out in what seemed like forever, and it was nice. It got quieter as we ventured toward the park, so we didn’t really run into a lot of people.

“It’s kind of weird,” Andy said. “No one is really out.”

“Yeah, I noticed,” Patrick mumbled.

“Do you think…never mind,” Andy dismissed.

“Think what?” I asked.

“Well…something happened. Usually there’s a few kids here, getting drunk or whatever,” he explained.

“Should we go check it out?” Joe asked slowly.

Pete looked around and listened for something. He finally set his gaze into the midst of the trees in the park. “Yeah,” he stated firmly.
