Death Breaking Embraces

“You do realize that Tess was throwing herself at you, right?” Georgie muttered towards Adam as they finally were released from the Cortez’s clutches. She had to thank her father for suggesting that it was late and they should leave so they can get a good night’s rest. Out of all her family, she did love her father more than anyone at the moment, he was her savior in more than one account.

The brunette hugged her father, Javier, around his torso as he gave her that wonderful smile that always put her at ease. He pressed his lips on the crown of her head as he muttered into her chocolate hair, “It was great to see you. Come back more than once every two months, I know your mother is unbearable but do it for me” his hazel eyes peering into her chocolate ones, he gave her a look she knew that he was serious about what he said.

Georgie sighed as she nodded, giving her father one last hug before giving a hug to Tess who was staying at the house a little while longer. It was short and quick with a peck on the cheek from her sister, then it was her mother she knew she would have to push away from the tight embrace she would give her.

Getting ready to pull away, she felt her mother’s tiny arms wrap around her shoulders, one hand between her shoulder blades and the other one was on the back of her head. Her mother was in tears as she murmured, “I know this is going to be the last time I see for the next couple of months so I am going to take every moment to remember your face and what you feel like”

Georgie wanted to roll her eyes at her mother’s dramatic nature, pursing her lips she didn’t say a word since her face was buried into her mother’s shoulder. She could hear Adam saying goodbye to her father for a few minutes before being held in the same embrace that she was with her sister Tess.

She knew that Adam was too nice of a guy to peel Tess off of his body, he didn’t want to hurt her feelings so he returned her embrace which a horrible idea in her mind. How could he just encourage her by coaxing her actions by accepting them? It didn’t make sense, if she knew him she would have said she had someone so Tess would get off her back.

Adam was never that kind of guy.

He was always the kind, sweet, caring, generous guy he has been since she first met him. Sure, he had his years where he turned into someone different after Jane but he came back to his normal self after a few years. All he needed was some time to heal because being with someone like Jane and having that nasty break-up would do anyone bad before doing any good.

As she stayed in her mother’s embrace she called out to her mother but it was muffled, Elle took this as encouragement to hold onto her daughter tighter thinking she was finally getting emotional. “It’s okay sweetheart, I know you mean well and you will come see us more frequently”

Georgie put her hands on her mother’s shoulders before pulling away with a slight glare, “I couldn’t breathe.”

All the air was returned to her lungs as she stepped back from her mother, “See you later” she said as she glanced to see that Tess was still holding onto Adam mumbling to him. Rolling her eyes she walked over to the taller pair and peeled off Tess for Adam since he wasn’t going to do it himself. “That’s enough, we are leaving” looking at her taller younger sister.

She pouted as her brown eyes peered up at Adam, “You better come back too. It has been way too long”

Georgie waited until she turned around with Adam to stifle her giggle, even though it was annoying how her sister would be all over Adam it still was funny how much she loves him. Climbing into the car, Adam was a little behind her since he had to hug Elle not wanting to leave her out and climbed into the car himself.

As they drove away, Adam could hear the small laughs that were emitting from his best friend, he rolled his hazel eyes, “Laugh it up, G. Laugh it up”

She took this as an okay and her lips were soon loose and she started to laugh, tears rolling down her face, “You s-should have seen the look on your face when Tess walked into the room. Oh man that was just fucking hilarious and when she hugged you? That is just a priceless moment that forever will be instilled in my heart” a huge grin was plastered on her face.

Adam rolled his eyes as he glanced at her, “At least I wasn’t in my mother’s death grip, who was thinking that she will never see her daughter again” Georgie glared at him before giving him a futile slap on the arm, “Seriously, G. You should visit to avoid those death hugs and it would put your family at ease seeing you more than once every two or three months”

There he goes again.

The man with logic; dumping all of his knowledge at her so she would at least have some type of conscious so she can visit her family. Right now, she was just glad that she didn’t have to be around her family twenty-four seven. She couldn’t complain to him that he didn’t know what it was like having them around all the time because he was around her family all the time while they grew up.

He knew her family like the back of his hand, sometimes he knew more about them than she did; did it bother her that he knew a lot more than she did. To be honest, not really. Georgie was really busy when it came to being a lawyer so she didn’t have time to bond with her family like Adam has done over the years. She knew that Adam started to visit them once a month or so to compensate for her not being there all the time.

Licking her plump lips her dark eyes looked at the starry sky that was barely showing with all the lights shining in L.A. “You going to the studio tomorrow?” she asked.

“Yeah, wanna come? Jesse has been bitching that he hasn’t seen you in forever, what is with you not seeing everyone during long periods of time? If I didn’t come see you I would get the same treatment”

Georgie quickly cut in, “That’s not true. I would never do that to you, I would go insane if I didn’t see you at least once a week.” She bit her lip at the vulnerable state she was in as she sighed deeply, “You’re the only person that I actually have to be around all the time…you know that” she whispered.

He knew better than to tease her about this; even though she did a half ass job of visiting her family and friends the one thing she didn’t do was ignore Adam. She couldn’t bear the thought of not having her best friend around, he was the one that kept her sane and going. What she wouldn’t do to be around him all the time.

Adam sighed as he moved his right hand on top of hers in comfort, “I know” he whispered as he tightened his grip on her hands. His heart reached out to her when he felt her grip tightened on his hand as he drove toward her house; out of all his friends his weakness is and always will be Georgie.

He forgot how fragile she can be sometimes.

As they parked outside her house, Georgie let go of his hand getting out of the car quickly to wipe the small tears that rolled down her cheeks during the car ride. She wanted to hide the tears from Adam so she turned her back towards him as she walked up the driveway towards the front porch, clearing her throat she open the front door waiting for Adam to come in.

“You staying late?” her brown eyes looked at the hazel man in front of her.

Adam wasn’t a fool, he knew that she was crying from the slight puffiness around her eyes and the slight pink color in her eyes were clear to him. Also as he watched her nibble on her lower lip it gave him a hunch that she was crying and trying to keep them at bay.

Nodding he walked through the door, closing it before wrapping his arms around her body “Let’s go to bed. You had a long day” rubbing her arm in a soothing manner before escorting her to her room. As Georgie started to get undressed she didn’t care that Adam was in the same room since they were really close and he was the only man she was comfortable with at the moment.

Since they were comfortable around one another, Adam started to peel off his own clothes down to his boxers before getting into bed waiting for her. As she slipped on her pajama pants and tank top she sniffled before joining Adam in bed.

Her smaller body instinctively scooted closer to his warmth, her arms wrapped around him, her embrace was so much different than her mother’s and Tess’. It was so much more looser and vulnerable, and when Adam hugged her it reminded her a lot of her father’s embrace. It was strong, soothing, and just reassures her that she isn’t alone.

“Everything is going to be okay” the soft whisper of Adam’s voice echoed in her ears.

She stiffly nodded as her thumb started to stroke one of his pecs inhaling his Old Spice scent her body soon started to relax. As she drifted off to sleep, Adam started to feel the same drowsiness as her as his eyes soon started to close as he watched the ceiling with a million of things running through his mind at the same time.

As the morning came, Georgie tried to snuggle closer to Adam but all she was met with was coldness. Her eyes were still closed as she tried to feel her way around to see if he moved anywhere else and when she discovered that he isn’t in bed anymore she opened one of her eyes to see if he was in the room.

Her brown eye scanned the room not finding the tattooed man anywhere around and suddenly she screamed feeling weight on her as well as a scream. Her body rolled across the bed to escape from whoever attacked her and her body met the floor with a thud.

Georgie groaned as her chest met with the hard wooden floors that she had, she heard a laugh from above, and she couldn’t help but glance up to see the perpetrator laughing his ass off. “You asshole” she groaned “Couldn’t you wake me up like a normal fucking being”

“I couldn’t help myself, I knew you were going to be grumpy whether I wake you up or not so I thought might as well take advantage” he sheepishly smiled at her with those perfect white teeth. “I fucking hate you” her cursing was only prominent when she was pissed off and that was usually in the morning. She was not a morning person and usually Adam wasn’t either but today was just one of those weird days that he woke up with inspiration and now was just chirpy.

She hated those days.

Getting up from her position, she brushed her hair back with her hand as she stared at Adam “While you were up did you make me breakfast?”

Adam rolled his eyes, “Do I look like your fucking slave?”

Georgie blinked as she continued to stare at her friend, “Pretty much. You do sleep here more than your own house most of the time” she had a point, he did sleep here more than he slept in his own house and he knew what was coming up next, “Why don’t you move in with me, it’s so much easier for you and not a waste of money since you are barely in your house”

“I do live in my house, G. I can’t just put my house up for sale and move in with you, it’s not that easy”

“And why not?” she rose a brow following the taller man out of the room.

The hazel eyed man sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, “It’s complicated”

Georgie furrowed her brow as she continued to follow Adam towards the kitchen where she saw a bag of McDonald’s sitting on the counter, she squealed in delight as she went to grab the food, her mind now distracted for the time being, giving Adam more time to think of what answer he will be giving her.

As she separated their food she started to munch on hers when she continued her train of thoughts before she got distracted, “Complicated? You never do complicated Adam” he knew that he couldn’t distract her long, her mind always bounced back to its previous place, she had great memory and there was rarely anything that made her forget her train of thought.

Unlike Adam, whose mind will wander most of the time without his consent. He knew that having ADHD was a struggle and a hassle but now with his knowledge of the disorder he knew that he can handle it on his own. Licking his lips he bit into his breakfast sandwich, “I know I don’t but now I do”

That didn’t make any sense. He didn’t do complicated but now he is? Adam was the type of person that would avoid complications when it comes to certain things and the only thing she can think of was—

“No” she whispered “No fucking way”

Her eyes widened in realization, Adam swallowed his food waiting for her guess which would be on the money if he had to guess. Like he said, she was brilliant. “The only type of complicated I know you don’t want to talk about is usually relationships…is that what you want to tell me? That you are with someone?” it disgusted her how he couldn’t tell her that.

Everything made sense. To him encouraging her to visit her family more often to trying to start dating again because he started to date again. “Who’s the girl?” she put her food down, suddenly not hungry anymore as she started at her friend.

Adam knew this was going to be rough on her as he answered, “Her name is Anne”

Georgie stiffly nodded as he sighed, “G, don’t be like this”

“Be like what? I have no idea what you are talking about” she muttered as her eyes were cast downward picking at her food. Suddenly she felt alone knowing that Adam has embarked on another relationship with some bimbo that was no good for him. After what Jane did to him, she thought that no woman was good enough for him.

No one.

“I want you to meet her. If it’s okay with you” he said softly.

Georgie scoffed as she crossed her arms, “Why should I? It’s not like you are going to pay attention to me, all you are going to do is make me uncomfortable with you sucking face with your girlfriend while everyone else is trying to distract me from your actions.” Rolling her eyes at the process.

Adam winced at the mere mention of him doing the exact thing that he did every time he had a girlfriend, he would ignore Georgie for long periods of time because he felt like he needed to get to know the girl he was dating. “This time is different, isn’t it? I am still hanging out with you and I have been dating her for a few months now”

Georgie gave him a look, “For now”

Adam pleaded with her to be nice to Anne, that was all he asked for and seeing the grumpy mood she was back in; he didn’t want her to mess things up with Anne. Georgie saw the desperation on his face and couldn’t help but gave in, “Fine but once you start sucking her face off I am leaving. I can’t deal with my food coming back up again”

The older man beamed, “That won’t be a problem. She’s great. I know you will love her”

For some reason, she couldn’t help but think that the only reason she will love her is because she will be one of those airheads Adam dates and would be easy to get rid of. If this woman has any indication that she is after his money or doesn’t seem good enough match for her dear friend she would make sure that she was going to make this woman’s life a living hell. That, she was good at.

Oh man! Adam finally revealed to her that he has a girlfriend! Georgie is going to meet Anne in the very next chapter :) What do you think she's going to do? Is Anne going to pass her test?

Thank you for the ones that commented

Synful Shadows (Elle is unbearable but yeah Georgie needs to cope with having a mother like that instead of having that sour attitude that she has but I love her for that haha she's so easy to write when she's like this. I love her family too, they are awesome in my opinion)

SynZacky6661 (Amen to that but Elle has her own way of loving Georgie and that is good enough. She just wants the best for her and hovering is what she does best haha)
