Hello Brooklyn, Hey L.A

Chapter 21: What the *** Alex?

“First Day of School in America!!!” I yelled as I ran around the house, getting dressed and packing my backpack. For this “special” occasion I decided to wear a skirt. Why not keep it kinda formal?
“God Andi, just shut the hell up,” Audrey glared at me.
“Love you too Aud.” I smiled sweetly. Jack and I had planned that we would walk with Audrey and Alex to school, and we would meet up with Rian, Cass and Sierra. Zack goes to Towson so we would hang out with him after school.
“Let’s go Aud, we’re gonna be late,” I rolled my eyes and grabbed my backpack and headed out the door.
“Andi Dandi!!” Jack yelled as he walked out of his house as I was walking down the driveway.
“Hey Hey Wacky Jacky!” I laughed as I greeted him.
“Woah! You’re wearing a skirt!” he exclaimed looking at my outfit.
“Well yeah... I am a female, why? Am I not allowed to wear skirts?” I asked looking up at him through my sunglasses.
“Well uhm... I dunno, You look pretty,” he stammered.
“Thanks Jack, you’re sweet, “ I smiled as we started to walk to school. We were almost at school when I heard a wolf whistle from behind us. I turned around to face a tall, brown haired boy.
“Shit... Saporta,” Jack hissed.
“Who?” I was confused looking at Jack.
“Nevermind, let’s go.” Jack tugged on my hand. I was really confused, and I mean really, really confused. We got to our assigned lockers. Luckily mine was right beside Jack’s since we had homeroom- Biology- together.
“What was that?” I turned to face Jack.
“That was Gabriel Saporta, known as Gabe for short, and he’s not t he greatest persona to hang around with. Alex does have a reputation at this school but Gabe has a bigger one.” Jack explained.
“What? I’m still confused,” I put my sunglasses on the top of my head, and tried to get my locker open.
“JusI advise you stay away from him for your own good.” he told me.
“I wasn’t planning on chilling with him anyway, he doesn’t look like my type,” I smirked.
“Okay, let’s just go...” Jack dragged me through the halls. It was like a maze, especially when there were a couple hundred students standing in the middle of the hallway. Was Jack jealous? We got to our first class, and sat down near the back. I knew no one except for Jack. I didn’t have to suffer that much, since in each class in the morning I had either Jack, Rian, Cass or Sierra. I didn’t have any classes with Alex or Audrey.
The bell rang indicating lunch had started, I walked down the hall to my locker, Jack was already there, having difficulties with his lock.
“Need help?” I asked as I swiftly opened me locker, dumped my books, and grabbed my lunch.
“No....” he replied, still trying to get his lock opened. I looked at him. “Yes,”
“Here,” I managed to open his lock, “It was 16 not 6,” I rolled my eyes.
“Sorry I have short term memory loss,”
“Too bad you don’t.” I laughed, “C’mon, I’m starving.” I tugged on his arm. We walked into the cafeteria.
“I’ll show you our table. We picked it when we were Freshmen, and it just stuck with us ever since.” Jack led me to the far corner of the caf. Sierra and Cass were already sitting there.
“Hey,” they greeted us.
“Hi,” I smiled in return and took a seat beside Jack.
“So how was your morning?” Sierra asked, “Other than French since we’re in that class together.” she added with a laugh.
“It was interesting.” I answered taking a bite out of my sandwich. “I mean it’s not any different from Canadian schools. Just that people say I have an accent.”
“That’s because you do.” Jack laughed.
“No I don’t!” I protested.
“You do have a little one, but it’s cute.” Alex sat down beside me.
“uhm... thanks,” I answered and looked around the large room looking for Audrey. “Any of you guys see my sister?” I asked the group.
“Is that her?” Cass asked pointing to a girl sitting with who I recognized as my sister.
“Shiiittt, she’s with Gabe and his friends.” Alex laughed, and received a smack on the arm from Rian.
“Seriously dude, that’s bad.” Jack pointed out.
“Oh right? What am I? A superhero?” Alex grimaced.
“Well you can at least invite her here.” Sierra rolled her eyes.
“Should I get her?” I asked unsure.
“No, let Alex do something productive.” Jack told me.
“I am doing something productive! I’m eating!” Alex shoved his sandwich into his mouth.
“That’s gross,” I turned to Cass and Sierra. They nodded in agreement.
“Well Alex, Are you going to go and invite her to our table?” Rian nudged the boy.
“No, why would I?” Alex rolled his eyes.
“Can I talk to you Alex?” I asked, turning to face him.
“Sure,” he grinned. I glared at him and motioned me to follow him out into the abandoned hallway.
“I’ll be back,” I told the rest of my friends as I nearly stormed out of the caf, with Alex trailing behind me.
“Alex?! What are you doing?”I asked angrily.
“Nothing. Why?” he answered nonchalantly leaning against the nearest locker.
“Please, don’t do this to my sister. Just face the fact that she-” I was cut off. I realized Alex pressed his lips against mine. I realized what was happening and pushed him away.
“What the fuck Alex? What the actual fuck?” I yelled.
“You wanted that- don’t deny it,” he smirked.
“No I did not!” I continued
“Oh don’t be like,” he groaned and rolled his eyes.
“Just shut up,” I started to walk back into the cafeteria, fuming with anger. Alex grabbed my wrist.
“Ok, fine. Sorry, I’ll make it up to you- Friday at 6 be ready.” he looked me in the eye and let go and started walking down the hall. Fine. Whatever. I went back to my seat.
“What’s wrong? Where’s Alex?” Jack looked at my face.
“I need to talk to you later.” I told him, packed my stuff and looked pleadingly at Cass and Sierra.
“Let’s go. I see we need to do some cheering up to do,” Sierra laughed as we left.
***
I sat in geography class, head on the desk, unwilling to communicate with anyone. Like Jack said whenI first met him, girls would drop everything to get with Alex Gaskarth. And I’m becoming depressed after he kissed me. I had a feeling of guilt. Yes I kissed Jack, but we’re not dating. And I don’t know about my feelings towards Josh back home. And to top it all off, I have to go out somewhere with Alex. I felt a tap on my head. I looked up to see Jack and Rian grinning at me.
“Hey guys,” I smiled weakly.
“How you’ve been? You act as if someone died.” Rian laughed.
“No one died. I just hate Alex.”I stated.
“Hate Alex? Why?” Jack took a seat beside me as Rian occupied the desk on the opposite side.
“He kissed me.” I stated and put my head back down on my binder.
“He what!?” Jack almost yelled right when the teacher walked in giving him a “I’m watching you,” look.
“He kissed you?” Rian whispered. I nodded.
“He’s a douche, what did you do?” Jack asked. I lifted my head and looked at my friends.
“I was gonna tell him to go get Audrey, and I was gonna tell him she likes him but then he cut my off and so I pushed him away and then he asked me to go out with him on Friday,” I spilled. I needed to vent to someone ASAP.
