Double Trouble

No Sex or Getting Married

I skated into the neutral zone, and past the blue line towards the Penguins side of the rink, doing my best to dodge the players coming up behind me, looking for an open Hawk to pass too. We had two minutes left in the 3rd period, and we were tied. I saw an opening on Flower, only to be smashed into the boards. I fell down, and winced, before getting back up to see Tanger skate off with the puck, and flawlessly pass it to Kunitz, who in turn passed it to Kennedy. I got up and skated back after the players. Kennedy skated around Kaner, who was charging towards him, and passed it to Neal, who crossed the neutral zone into our side of the blue line. He snapped a quick pass to Malkin, who gave it a clean wrist shot into the net. I held my breath as I watched Crawford go down, only to hear the buzzer. I groaned as their score went up by one. I skated towards the center of the ice, and stood behind Kaner as he took the face off. Crosby won it and passed it to Staal, who just shot it down the ice as the final seconds of the period ended with a loud ring.

I sighed and skated off towards the exit and into the locker room. The boys passed me and gave me soft pats on the head. I gave them small smiles and went in and took a quick shower, before getting into my dress and heels. I turned to walk out before Coach Q called me over.

“Hey, you did good kid. It wasn’t your fault. And how are you after that hit? I saw you wince.” I gave him a soft smile.

“I can’t help but feel it is my fault. I had an opening on Flower. I could have made one amazing shot. And I’ll be fine. I’ll probably just get a couple bruises.” I answered him before saying goodbye and leaving. I walked to the family lounge before I heard a male voice call my name.

“You played well, mon cherie.” Flower said as I turned to face him.

“Not really. I could have had an amazing shot on you.” I said to him sighing. He gave me a sympathetic smile.

“Nothing you could have done. But I wanted to say goodbye to you and your sister before we left. I assume that is where you are going?” I nodded, and we made small talk as we found her.

He pulled Lina into a hug and began to quietly talk to her, giving her small smiles.

“You were amazing out there.” I told him quietly as I gave him a hug good bye.

“So were you, mon petite fille. And Kris told me to tell you that he is sorry. He didn’t expect you to be that small.” I giggled and shook my head.

“It’s ok. I expect to be hipchecked and smashed into boards. It’s a part of the game. Tell the team I say congratulations and tell him that I’m not mad at him.” He nodded before saying one last goodbye to us all before turning to leave.

“I’m going to miss him.” Lina said quietly from besides me. I nodded.

“He is the most down to earth and loving person I know. He is so underappreciated.” I replied. She nodded.

“He’s the only Penguin I like.” She said. I laughed and hooked arms with her.

“That, I approve of.”

“You played great today. It wasn’t your fault that you guys lost. And you are icing your side once we get home.” I sighed.

“Alright, I’ll ice it when I get home. And you know as much as I do that it was my fault.” She gave me a sharp look and lightly shoved me forward.

“It was not your fault. Now get going. And be prepared for a full body pat down by Daddy and the boys.” I groaned.

“How bad was it this time?” I asked her.

“The boys started saying some very explicit words while Daddy had a sullen look on his face. We had to cover little Madelyn Grace’s ears.” She replied.

“Wait, little Maddy Sharp-Shooter is up there? WHY ARE WE STILL HERE?” I exclaimed and walked as fast as I could in heels and a bag and a sore side to the family lounge. She laughed and followed me at a much less dangerous pace. We reached the lounge and my grin faded as I got bombarded by my brothers.

“Are you Ok?”

“Nothing hurts right?”

“Do I need to kick his ass?”

“How could he hit you?”

“You’re so tiny compared to him!” I waited until they finished their freak out.

“I’m fine. He appologized, and I play professional hockey. I want them to treat me like everyone else. If that means getting smacked into the boards, then so be it. Now take my bag.” I said tossing it to them. I walked away and found Abby talking with Laura. I walked up to them with a smile. Abby grinned as she saw me,

“Hey honey, how are you? That looked like it hurt.” I smiled and brushed it off.

“I’m good. It hurt a bit, but it’s all good.” She nodded. I waited and looked down at Maddy. “Can I hold her?” Abby nodded and handed her little girl to me.

“It would be nice having someone to take her for a while.” I carefully took her in my arms and began rocking her a bit, making funny faces, and cooing.

“Hey, Ave whe- WHOA WHY DO YOU HAVE A BABY?” Mattie asked as he came over. I glared at him as Maddy began to whine.

“Shhh. Be quiet. You’re scaring little Maddy Sharp-Shooter.” I said to him before turning back to the baby in my arms. “Did big old Mattie scare you? I bet he did. He’s a scary boy.” I cooed to her and she calmed down.

“Little Maddy Sharp-Shooter.... Oh, this is Sharpie’s kid.” Matt realized. I rolled my eyes and nodded.

“Yep. This is Sharpie’s kid. Now go away before you make her cry.” He huffed and did as I said, and I heard Abby laughing.

“You’ll be a great mother one day.” She said, still laughing. “Especially if you tell off anyone who makes your baby cry.” I smiled and cradled Maddy even closer.

“I hope I’ll be a great mother. I can only try. And I hope to god I’ll be a better mother than mine ever was.” I felt and arms go around me and I looked up to see Lina, Kane, and Toews. I gave them a small smile and went back to looking down at Maddy.

“I am sure you’ll be a better mother than yours. She’s missing out on two of the most beautiful girls I know and their accomplishments.” Abby said, and Laura nodded in agreement. I could feel the tears fill my eyes.

Alina wiped my tears away and Kaner came up to me giving me a light kiss. I giggled at hearing my brothers groan, it still annoyed them yet they accepted it nonetheless.

“So, Patrick Kane, it seems like you’ve settled down.” Abby began. “When will you start having little hockey players running around.” My eyes widened as his cheeks tinted pink.

“No! No sex or getting married until you’re 30!” Mattie and Mikey exclaimed. I rolled my eyes.

“Get over yourselves. It’s my body, and my love life. If I want to have kids and get married at 25 then so be it. Same with Lina.”

“Patrick, I’m still waiting for an answer.” Abby said.

“Uhh.. I... Uh... later? When I’m older?” He said, not sure of his answers.

“Good answer,” Mikey growled.

“Same goes for you Toews,” Mattie said.

“Men, specifically Addison men,” Lina and I said.

We heard Madelyn Grace giggle. We looked down and saw that the little girl was looking up at us.

“See, even she agrees with us.”

“Alright, lets go before you two corrupt her into thinking that us Addison men are nothing but trouble.” Daddy said as he took Maddy from my arms, giving her a soft kiss on the forehead, and returning her to Abby.

“We’re not corrupting her to thinking all Addison men are trouble, just Mikey and Mattie.” I said to him. He rolled his eyes and began jokingly pushing us towards the door.

“Come on. We got to get going. And you still need to ice your side.” I groaned but complied, waving goodbye to everyone before following them out.

I somehow got Mattie to carry me all the way to the car, and up the stairs to the apartment, playing the ‘I got hit and I don’t feel like walking’ card. I changed into some comfy pjs and sat down on the couch with everyone as we ate Chinese take out and watched a bunch of movies.

“Lay down and ice your side.” Lina said after the second movie. I sighed and did as she said, laying my head on Mattie’s lap, and smiling at lina as she laid down opposite of me, her head on Mikey’s lap.

“Now, lets watch Bridesmaids.” Lina said. I nodded and Daddy popped in the DVD and we all watched it. Halfway through the movie, Lina’s phone rang. Without even looking she answered.

“Hey John.” She said surprised after a moment of silence. I looked at her alarmed. This can’t be good.

She excused herself, and went to her room for her phone call.

“Why is Toews calling her. He saw her like a couple hours ago.” Mikey asked.

“That’s not Tazer. Shit. This can’t be good.” I said, about to get up, only to be held down by Mattie.

“Relax. You need to rest. If anything happens, we’re all here.” He reasoned. I sighed and turned my attention back to the tv screen, but my mind was still preoccupied with Lina.
