It's More Than Nature

The diner was amazing when we pulled up, thank god. Shitty food, but good beds. Party was already there?

"Party't already back" I said in amazement. "I was sure we would be back before him.." I said kind of mad at loosing, ok so i know it wasn't a competition but i kind of feel like it was. and we lost.

"What does that mean?" Scatt asked groggily.

"it means he's better than us and found his charge first." Jet chuckled

"WHAT?? WHO? HIS CHARGE? WHO?" Scatt said bolting upright. We had been in the car long enough, i decided that it was time to get out and talk inside, i started to open the door but he outburst stopped that at just a crack. It looked like i just said there was a celebrity in front of us because Scatts eyes got HUGE! i couldn't help but chuckle.

"Insulin... right Jet?" I said looking at Jet.

"Ya.." Next thing i know i'm in the sand, she's flying over me and Jet is staring at me like i did it myself.

"wha??" I started, then i saw this girl come out of the diner, she wrapped Scatt up in a huge hug and i couldn't help but smile, but something was going on, why was she panicking?

"SCATT!" Insulin yelled.

"holy shit." Ghoul said, eyes wide as the Scatt burst into flames. I felt paralyzed. I couldn't move, or talk. i just watched her run out into the desert and start screaming for Fallout. The hold on my legs finally let go, i started to move forward when i hand stopped me.

"don't" Insulin said beside me, tears streaking her beautiful face.

"but.." I said, with a final scream the flames erupted into the sky and she crumpled into the sand. Insulin turned to Jet.

"Go grab a blanket and some water." She said like this happened every day,

"ok" Jet hesitated.

"go" She said starting to walk over to the limp Scatt.

"what just happened?" Ghoul asked.

"I'll explain later, right now we need to get her inside." I looked over to her waist and saw one of my old radiation belts, i forgot to look and see if Scatt had one, dammit! I looked down and saw that she didn't. and scolded myself for being stupid.

"it's ok, don't beat yourself up, just help me get her inside, but wait for the blanket, she'll be hot." Insulin said taking the blanket from Jet and wrapping it around Scatt, I helped her carry Scatt inside. Setting her on one of the beds i looked up and smiled at Insulin. She smiled back stroking Scatt's hair back out of her face.
