Apple Crumble

It's the twenty-first of December, and Jack Barakat is sitting in a coffee shop, talking noisily and buzzing from excitement that Christmas is just round the corner. He's already finished his shopping, wrapped the presents, and is obsessively planning the day's events. Jack loves Christmas, always has done and always will do, and it's just part of his personality to spread the Christmas love.

On that same December day, Alex Gaskarth sits opposite him, clutching a medium latte in a paper cup. Alex sips his drink and smiles innocently, irritated by Jack's enthusiasm. Alex doesn't understand Christmas anymore.

And in that coffee shop, on that day in December, there are two boys sitting huddled over a shared plate of overly-priced apple crumble, trying to decipher the true meaning of Christmas Day.
