There she was.
The only reason I continued to go to that small little restaurant on the east side of Newark.
The first time I laid eyes on her was the day I knew she'd ruin everything for me.
I couldn't say if that was a bad thing.
It may have been the best thing to ever happen to me.
It was raining that day. That little family restaurant was the place I took shelter in. Fate certainly smiled on me.
Her face was pale and her cheeks were sunken, but she was beautiful. Her eyes glittered and she moved with such grace that my breath caught. I could feel myself slipping. I could feel myself falling over that edge.
I fell for her. Instantly. No warning was given, and certainly no protest was made. But I wasn't right for her. I couldn't taint her. I wasn't good enough.
I didn't think I ever would be.
