Sequel: Forgive and Forget

A Summer Romance

Twelfth

Lying stretched out on her stomach on her bed in the hotel room wearing shorts and hooded top, Elina looked up from the magazine she was flipping through as the door opened and Simon all but stormed into the room before flinging himself onto the bed that he’d immediately claimed as his.

“Seriously!”

“Hello to you too,” she commented with an amused smirk as she supported herself on her forearms.

“Eh,” was all Simon let out, causing her to laugh as she turned her attention back to the magazine before her.

“What’s wrong?” she asked without looking at him.

“It’s raining,” he stated annoyed as he motioned towards the large balcony doors where the days downpour was clearly visible.

“I know,” she commented dryly. She wouldn't have been laying there, bored out her mind if the sun had been out, she would have been out by the pool or on the beach, continuing to work on her tan.

“I'm bored,” he announced exasperated, flinging himself back on the bed.

“So find something to do,” she suggested with a roll of her eyes. “Go find Johan or watch some TV.”

“Everything is in Spanish,” he complained, but switched on the TV nonetheless. “And Johan’s down by the bar, playing pool with those other guys.”

“Right,” she nodded, Johan had said something about that when he left the room a while earlier. “Well, are you sure that there’s nothing on in English?” she questioned as she finally picked her head back up and looked over to where he was laying.

“Nothing,” he sighed heavily as he flipped through the channels with ease. “We’re in Spain,” he stated frankly. “It’s not supposed to rain here.”

“It rains all over Europe,” she smiled as she gave up reading her magazine and leaving it spread out on the end of the bed, manoeuvred herself into a sitting position and crossed her legs beneath herself as she looked around the room, trying to find something to do. “Want to play cards?” she threw out there as she spotted the deck of cards laying on Johan’s bedside table.

“Sure,” Simon agreed as he dropped the remote onto the covers of the bed and climbed off it before retrieving the deck and climbing onto his sister’s bed. “What are we playing?”

“Do I have to think of everything?” she rolled her eyes as she took the deck from him and easily shuffled them. “Go Fish?”

“Sounds good,” he agreed and with a roll of her eyes she began dealing the cards before spreading out the rest of them out on the bedspread between them.

Playing a number of hands, Elina was coming out on top, winning more than she was losing and when Johan arrived back, Simon was more than happy to abandon the card games in favour of going with his brother. Grabbing a football, the once again left the room, announcing they were going to attempt to kick it about out by the pool, in the small area beneath the roof of the gazebo.

Shaking her head in her brothers’ eagerness to do something, she collected the cards back into a pile and was putting them away just as her phone rang. Grabbing it from her bedside table, she couldn’t keep a smile from spreading across her lips as she saw the name of the caller.

“Hey,” she answered the phone. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing,” was Fernando’s very informative response. “It’s raining.”

“Yeah, I know,” she nodded smiling as she sat down on her bed, looking out through the balcony doors where the water was literally pouring down.

“What are you doing?”

“Nothing,” she rolled her eyes at him. “I was playing Go Fish with my youngest brother, then that sort of dried up and now I'm taking to you,” she told him, fidgeting slightly with the drawstring on her shorts.

“You want to do something?” he wondered.

“You said it yourself, it’s raining,” she reminded him

“I know,” he smiled simply. “Be down in the lobby in twenty minutes.”

“Why?” she questioned.

“Cause I said so,” he joked. “And cause I’ll be there then.”

“You're going to get drenched if you go out there now,” she pointed out.

“Seeing as I'm already outside, I don't think that I can get anymore wet,” he told her teasingly. “And there is this new invention, I don't know if you’ve heard about it yet, but it’s called and umbrella...”

“Shut up,” she retorted with a roll of her eyes. “Fine, I’ll be there,” she told him, silently adding that it wasn't like she had anything better to do anyway.

“See you then,” he smiled before hanging up, leaving her to do the same.

Looking at the phone in her hand, shaking her head slightly, Elina pressed end and once again climbed off the bed to walk towards the surprisingly large bathroom to freshen up a bit.

Grabbing her phone from her bed and the key from the table, she slipped her feet into a pair of her flip-flops and exited the room before heading down the two flights of stairs, entering the lobby just in time to see a very familiar blonde ascend the steps outside the front doors. Smiling slightly, she jogged over as he proceeded to shake of a large umbrella as he was standing relatively protected from the rain beneath the roof outside the doors.

“Hey,” she greeted him as she pulled the door open.

“Hi,” he smiled as well as he turned around to look at her. “See, didn't get all that wet,” he pointed at himself.

“I can see that,” she said as she stepped away from them door, and waited for him to walk inside of the hotel before agreeing that they should sit in one of the many groups of sofas and armchairs spread around the lobby.

“Were you really as bored as you sounded when I called you?” he questioned as they say down and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her back against his chest, not that she was protesting.

“Mm-hm,” she nodded against his chest. “I was dominating Go Fish a bit too much so Simon got bored and left with Johan, and there’s nothing but Spanish soaps on TV and I do not know enough to actually manage to get anything out of that so...yeah, I'm officially bored,” she smiled, glancing up at him.

Not saying anything, he leaned over and kissed her. “Good thing you have me to come entertain you then.”

“Good thing,” she mumbled against his lips before resting her head against his chest once again. “What were you doing before you came here?”

“Nothing,” he admitted with a sheepish smile that caused her to laugh slightly before leaning up to press a short kiss to his lips. They were quite a pair alright...

Spending close to two hours sitting down in the lobby, just taking and hanging out, Fernando announced that he’d promised his brother that they were going to hang out a bit that day and that he probably had to go. Having brothers herself now, having been an only child for most of her life, Elina knew what he was talking about and told him he should go. They could see each other the next day or something.

“I’ll see you,” he said as she’d followed him out on the steps outside the front doors, taking her face in his hands and kissing her. “And I’ll call you,” he told her with a smile before she wrapped her arms around him in a close hug.

“Do that,” she nodded once before he kissed her again, resting his hands on the curve of her hips.

“I have to go,” he said reluctantly as his dark eyes were focused on her bright blue ones.

“So go,” she smiled up at him.

“I don't want to,” he admitted honestly.

“Go,” she told him, giggling slightly as he placed a tiny kiss on the top of her nose before kissing her once again.

“I’ll call you,” he promised once again before opening his umbrella and sending her a wide grin as he jogged down the steps.

Looking after him, she shook her head slightly once he’d disappeared from her view. She was in way too deep already...

Reaching up and running her fingers through her unkempt hair that she’d pulled into a loose bun earlier the same morning, she spun around on her heel and headed back into the hotel, her flip-flops smacking against the stone floors.

Forgoing heading back to her room, she headed towards the bar of the hotel and wasn't too surprised when she found her two brothers at the foosball table. “Hey,” she announced herself as she walked over to them.

“Hey,” the two boys said in unison as they never even took their eyes of the game they were playing, causing her to roll her eyes at him.

“Where have you been?” Johan asked, sounding just as distracted as he probably was.

“Around,” was the vague answer she gave him as she sat up on a barstool standing not too far away from the table.

“You were with Fernando again, right?” Johan smirked knowingly, enjoying the blush that spread across his big sister’s cheeks.

“As a matter of a fact, yes I was,” she stated as she looked between her brothers. “You got a problem with that?”

“No,” Johan shook his head smirking.

“He’s nice,” Simon stated simply as they continued playing. “He taught us some tricks the other day.”

“When we were at the beach?” Elina looked over at the younger of the two brothers; she had seen the three of them together for a while.

“Yeah,” Johan confirmed. “He’s really good at football,” he commented simply.

“He told he plays football, I think he’s some sort of professional,” she frowned slightly, remembering that conversation.

“Like La Liga?” Simon perked up, one of his absolute favourite teams were Barcelona.

“I don't know, but I don't think so,” she shrugged simply. “I asked him about it and he said that he wasn't, that it wasn't all he did.”

“If he was playing on that level he probably wouldn't have time to do anything else,” Simon commented as Johan scored on him once again. “And I don't think he would want to either,” he added softly.

“You’d know all about that, wouldn't you?” Johan smirked as he looked at his younger brother, it was common knowledge in the family that the youngest Lundgren’s biggest dream was to play football professionally one day.

“Shut up,” Simon blushed bright red as he refused to look at his older brother as he was scored on once again.

“Alright, move over,” Elina announced as she slid off the stool and joined Simon by the table. “Someone needs to show this tool how it’s done,” she smiled as she looked into Johan’s blue eyes that despite their non-biological relation, was very similar to her own.

The three of them, Simon and Elina together against Johan, continued playing till their parents came and told them they needed to get ready to head out to dinner.
