Only Fooling Myself

I watched as Layton played with his cars, we were sat in a cafe which was a few seconds from the beach.

"He's gotten big"

I looked at Jimmy who was also watching Layton.

"Yeah he has, I can't believe how fact he grows up"

"Last time I saw him he wasn't even crawling. Now he's walking and talking"

"Sometimes I can't shut him up" Jimmy laughed.

"A bit like you" I threw a fry at him, a smile playing on my lips.

"So Jimbo, hows the band?"

Jimmy was the drummer of an amazing band known as Avenged Sevenfold.

"All good. The guys can't wait to see you"

I had known all the guys whilst in High School but I had always been closer to Jimmy.

"I can't wait to see them either"

"Mia. Why have you come back?"

With a sigh, I looked at Layton then back to Jimmy.

"I moved away thinking a new start would do me and him good. Try and give him the best possible life. For a while it was perfect but perfect got boring really fast. I was living off a waitresses wage, I had no family and no friends. The only good thing I had was LJ. I was becoming miserable. I missed my family, my friends... you"

"I'm glad your back Mia" I smiled.

"So am I, it's good to be home"

Layton climbed onto my lap and looked at Jimmy.

"I'm nearly 5"

"Wow, your getting old"

"Your weird"

"So are you"

"I'm Layton James Andrews"

"I'm James Owen Sullivan"

I laughed as I watched Jimmy and Layton. It was like they had known each other forever.

"Momma, I'm sleepy" I ran my hand through his blond hair.

"Okay baby, I guess that's my que"

"Where you guys stopping?"

"My moms"

"Come on I'll drive you over"

I nodded, giving him a thankful smile knowing Layton was to tired to walk.

It felt good being back here, with my bestfriend. It felt even better knowing my son could be surrounded by the people I had grew up with.
It was good to be home.
