My Ex-Boyfriend
We had dinner with Kylee, Tanner and my parents last night and it went…well let’s just say I’m glad it’s over. Tonight though, I’m having dinner with the BTR boys and they’re late!
“I’ve been waiting here forever!” I tried to accuse when Kendall came walking up to the table but I just ended up laughing.
“I know, I’m sorry. I was going to call but my phone is dead. Filming ran over, I’m so sorry Kirstie,” He profusely apologized.
“I’m teasing it’s fine,” I giggled as we shared a tight hug.
“So we’re on our own tonight too. The other guys can’t make it because everyone had plans! They never have plans,” Kendall rolled his eyes with a laugh.
“Oh well, we’ll have fin without them,” I grinned.
“Yep, they’re missing out,” He said.
The two of us got dinner and we had such a great time. I love all the BTR boys but I’m definitely closest to Kendall out of everyone. Our personalities just work together perfectly. My phone interrupted us and my boss said he’d be calling me so I answered it without looking.
“Hey Kirstie,” A familiar voice greeted me.
“Caleb?” I gasped.
“Yeah it’s me,” He softly said.
Kendall was looking at me and he scribbled out a note in his messy handwriting on a napkin and passed it to me.
‘who is it?’ Kendall wrote.
‘my ex-boyfriend’ I wrote and passed it back.
“Oh,” His eyes got wide.
“So did you, um need something?” I questioned. “What’s up?”
“I just…really wanted to hear your voice,” Caleb told me.
“Aw,” I couldn’t help but say. “So, how are you doing?”
“I’m good, I’m really good and I’m actually back in town and wondered if we could maybe see each other?” He asked.
“Of course. I’m actually with a friend right now though so can I call you back?” I questioned.
“Sure, anytime,” Caleb told me before we hung up.
It was awkwardly quiet between Kendall and I before he said, “So what did your ex-boyfriend want? Well you don’t have to tell me, it’s not any of my business I guess.”
“No it’s fine. You’re my friend so it is your business,” I replied and we shared a smile before I said, “He wanted to get together one day.”
“So what’s the backstory on this guy?” Kendall asked, taking a bite of his chicken.
“His name is Caleb, he was really cute too, and we dated about two years ago. I think we were together three years total, but he transferred his college to the east coast so we broke up,” I started. “He’s a really good guy. I don’t think he’s ever done anything bad in his life, or ever disobeyed his parents or a teacher. My parents adored him and any parent would, I mean, he had good manners, very kind, he treated me great, I don’t think he ever said anything even remotely mean to me, we never fought and he’s a genius… that’s the reason he went back east. He’s studying to be a doctor so he went to this prestigious doctor school in New York.”
“Sounds like you thought pretty highly of him,” Kendall mumbled.
“I do. I respect how dedicated he is and he really is a good guy. Like I said, he was nothing but good to me, but I didn’t want a long distance relationship and when I was nineteen, I wanted to get my career going and to be honest…. I was a little jealous of Caleb,” I laughed toward the end.
“Jealous?” He asked.
“Yeah,” I giggled. “He’s perfect and so smart and never got mad and sometimes it bugged me that I would get moody at times or how I had to work my butt off to get an A and he could work five minutes on something and get the same grade. But he really was good to me.”
“Did you love him?” Kendall went on.
“No. I liked him, but never loved. I’ve never been in love with someone before,” I honestly said.
“Me either,” He agreed.
“We have plenty of time, we’re only twenty one and it’s time to have fun, and when that person comes along, we’ll be ready,” I smiled.
“For sure,” Kendall nodded his head. “Well are you ready?”
I nodded my head and he helped me with my coat before we walked outside and shared a big hug before going back home. Talking to Caleb made me think a lot about relationships and him. He’s a perfect gentleman and he was so sweet, I hope everything is going well for him and hopefully I’ll find out if we meet up one day.
