It's What's Underneath the Skin; the Beauty that Shines Within

I let out a groan as I woke up and felt Parker licking my face. I pushed him away and sat up in bed. He gave me a sad look and I petted his head and said, “Sorry bud, but I don’t want your slobber on my face.”

He just jumped into my lap and I smiled before getting up. I got dressed and did all the morning things before grabbing my phone and I found a new text from Kendall.

‘Good morning baby. I love you’ He wrote.

Those simple words put the biggest smile on my face and I quickly replied. As I was making my way down the stairs I heard a knock on the door and I pulled it open to find my sister standing there. She sent me a small smile before walking past me to plop down on the couch.

“Are you… ok?” I gently asked while sitting next to her.

“Fine,” She mumbled.

“No, you’re not,” I had to let out a little giggle.

“I’m fine. How are you this morning?” Ky shifted.

“Good… how was yours?” I prodded, trying to get it out of her.

“Horrible,” She broke down.

“Did… something happen with you and Tanner?” I softly said.

“We got… into an argument last night,” Ky mumbled.

“About what?” I asked.

“James,” She sighed.

“What?” I gasped.

“I don’t know,” Ky grumbled, rubbing her hands on her face.

“No, tell me! My house is a safe zone!” I laughed while bouncing up and down. “Did he get mad about the dog?” I tried to lighten the mood a bit.

“No, he loves the dog. But… he didn’t like the story behind the dog,” She started.

“What’s the story behind it?” I asked.

“You know… James brings his dog around and then I want a dog. James went with me to get the dog. James and I’s dogs have gone on little play dates…”

“Ohhh…” I nodded my head.

Ohhh what? Don’t say it like that!” She groaned.

“I always thought you and James had something!” I teased.

“But we don’t! And now Tanner thinks I did stuff with James while he was gone,” Kylee complained.

“Does he really?” My eyes grew big.

“Yeah, that’s what we fought about last night,” She let out a heavy sighed.

“Aw, Ky,” I said, pulling her in for a big hug.

“I don’t want to break up with him, but I hate how he’s acting,” Ky told me.

“I don’t know how he could think that! I mean, yeah you guys are friendly and James is attractive but he should trust you!” I sympathized.

“I know!” She agreed.

“Well you know you are always welcome to stay here if you want,” I replied.

“Okay,” Ky nodded her head. “I think I’ll be okay though.”

“If you do break up with Tanner, I’m sure Kendall can hook you up with James,” I teased.

She let out a laugh before giving me a hug and then going back to Tanners house. I sure hope those two make up, they are so cute together and Tanner has done so much good for her but if he can’t trust her….they shouldn’t be together.
