It's What's Underneath the Skin; the Beauty that Shines Within
I WANT YOU!
I went to bed before Tanner came home last night. Once Kenzie was tucked in, I went into my room. I heard him come in… and walk right into his room. I wanted us to talk, but… apparently he wasn’t ready. It saddened me. I love him… and he thinks I cheated.
When I woke up in the morning, I was just... in a bad mood. I didn’t want to get up. Thankfully, it was Saturday so Kenzie didn’t have to go to school. But I figured she’d still be up… and God forbid Tanner get up with his own daughter on the weekends.
But as I tried to roll out of bed, a pair of arms hooked snuggly around my waist stopped me. It actually scared me. I turned around quickly to find Tanner gazing back at me. I wanted to be happy, but… I just couldn’t.
“Morning,” he spoke gently.
“Morning,” I muttered, still trying to get out of his grasp.
“I think we should… talk,” he went on.
“No,” was all I said.
“Kylee, I love you…” he started.
“I love you too. You know this! For you to…” I tried to go on, but he cut me off this time.
“I love you so much that… maybe I need to… let you go,” he added.
“What?” I threw back at him. Is he crazy?!
“You’re young, Ky. You can’t be weighed down with someone like me,” he sighed.
“What are you talking about? Since when is our age difference an issue with you?” I battled back.
“What if I’m not the one for you? Then you wasted this time with me. You need to find someone that makes you happy,” he explained.
“You are being the biggest idiot right now. If you want to break up with me because you think I ‘cheated’ on you, you need to just say it. Don’t beat around the bush with me,” I threw back as I got to my feet.
“I don’t want to break up, but maybe… that’s what’s best for us right now,” he huffed.
“You’re serious?” I couldn’t believe him.
“Maybe you just need some time to figure out what you want,” he added.
“I WANT YOU!” I shouted at him, trying to get this through his thick skull.
He looked back at me with his eyes full of disbelief. It made me so mad. I couldn’t believe him right now!
“If I walk out that door, I’m not coming back,” I muttered as I went around and stuffed clothes in my bag.
“Kylee, don’t be like that. I just think you need to date other people before we get super serious,” he butted in quickly.
“And how would you know what I need?” I snapped.
“Because I love you,” he was close to losing it too.
“Last time I checked, if you loved someone, you wouldn’t accuse them of cheating on you and then give them some bogus excuse when you broke up with them,” I mumbled as I walked past him to leave the room.
I shut the door behind me, dragging my bag behind as I hurried out of his house. I threw it in my car and plopped into the driver’s seat. Without looking back, I left. I was so upset with him! He loves me, but he wanted to break up for me to see other people… after we had a huge blow out about me cheating which I didn’t do! Well, fine. If that’s how he wants to be, we can break up! He better not expect me to come crawling back to him… no matter how badly I want to…
