All The Things You Never Knew
The summer breeze was light and refreshing, it was the perfect day any summer vacationer could hope for. The twins were making a racket on the front yard with some neighbourhood kids, mom's cooking downstairs was sending goodsmelling messages around the house and finally, of course, The day being the last day of school before summer vacation made it all the more a wonderful day for the kids in the neighbourhood.
'well, now i know where my eyeliner went', Julie leaned out the window, 'Bryan! Zach! You guys are so dead!' she screamed at her two brothers and ran downstairs in her pyjamas to get her eyeliner back from the monstrous clutches of the troublemaking duo.
Across the street, Julie's best friend, Tyler leaned out his window to watch the free circus that was the Dunn family.
And along julie's side of the street, a curtain moved and a girl named Cherie Wyatt, watched longingly as Tyler Evans threw his head back and laughed wholly, all the while making her heart beat faster. Cherie took in just two seconds more of him, then drew her curtain and got ready for the last class of the term.
'Cherie, honey? Are you ready?', Cherie's mom shouted from the kitchen.
'One sec, mom! I'll be there', she answered and put some light perfume on while mumbling to herself, 'this is stupid. Perfume? Seriously? Not like he's gonna fall for you because of some cheap $15 pefume...'
And with one last look in the mirror, she ran downstairs. Cherie Wyatt was the kind of girl who spent most of her time singing along to taylor swift with a journal in her hand, of course, writing about Tyler this and Tyler that. She was also very much like by most of her neighbors and she was the favorite babysitter of all the moms and dads in the neighbourhood. Yes, Cherie was the typical next-door-girl, only much more shyer.
On the other hand Julia Dunns was the sporty one, of course, having troublemaking younger brothers had some part in it but she was destined to be anything but a quiet one long before the twins came along. She had two high school sweetheart parents who were still very much in love and the twins only added, how Indians would say, 'masala' to the Dunns family. The Dunns family was warm and welcoming and helpful of all thair neighbours, the neighbours leading stressful lives envied them for always being so happy, they never fought, they never had tragedies and they were never without a smile.
Tyler watched as his long time best friend struggled to free her already ruined eyeliner from her younger brothers grasp. He didn't even realize he was smiling, let alone laughing. Just seeing them all made him happy, they were always so happy. He smiled back at Julie when she waved to him. He had always wished he could always be so happy but it was kind of hard to complain or laugh about school or his life when he practically lived alone, his mom was never around and his dad, well, he was happy in his big mansion, lounging around with his hordes of plastic girlfriends. Well, he didn't mind, he was always welcomed by Julie and her family and he was practically family to them. But he thought to himself that it would've been nice to come home to a noisy and full house instead of a vampire den, sometimes. But for now, life was good for him.
As the time for classes neared, high school students left their homes, happy that summer vacations were practically knocking on their doors and they would carry on- some hopeful of advance allowance, some to have their unrequited love noticed and some to feel what it felt like to have a family that loved them, unconditionally.
