Sequel: Science & Faith

Fairytales & Lullabies

I'll run, run, run just as fast as I can

Stepping off the plane in Minnesota, I let a sigh of relief come out of my mouth. It was Friday afternoon and I had great plans for some of the guys.

I went to Excel Energy Center to set up most of the equipment with the rest of equipment crew. We took a little over an hour and made it back to the hotel soon after.

Marc was asleep on the bed closest to the door. He had left the TV on Sports Center. I grabbed a pillow off my bed and threw it at his head. "Get up and get dressed! I have plans for us tonight!" He only groaned before slowly getting up and walking to the bathroom.

"Welcome to my home for the past four years!" I lead the group into the suite at Mariucci Arena. The University of Minnesota Gophers were playing Wisconsin and it was one game I didn't want to miss.

"Holy shit, Greta! How did you manage this?" Max exclaimed. Jordan, Marc, Sid, Kris and a few others were in the suite I had managed to reserve.

"You guys aren't the only ones with connections. Coach Lucia still appreciates the work I did for him." I walked across the room to look out at the ice.

There was a knock at the door shortly after we had all settled in. My family and Anne walked in. I immediately went to my parents. "I'm so glad you guys could make it." I hugged my sister, who was sporting her Gopher jersey along with me and Anne. Sid had immediately found Anne and led her over to talk privately and watch the game. The smile on both their faces would not go away.

My sister pulled me aside, “He’s a lot hotter in person.” Our eyes moved towards Kris who was talking with Jordan.

“I know, but lay off, he’s mine.” She nodded her head and surveyed the rest of the group. I moved back over to my parents and started to tell them about my new job.

Kris had come up next me and placed his left hand on my lower back and held out his right hand for my parents to shake as he introduced himself. My sister gave me a knowing look and left our group. "Mom, Dad, Kris is my boyfriend."

Things went smoothly after that. There was never an awkward moment. Kris and my dad talked about hockey and his apartment. Dad wanted to make sure it was safe and was built properly.

Mom stayed by me, just enjoying that I was back for a few days. We caught up on what was happening at her job and how Kris and I met. She was thrilled to see her oldest daughter finding the perfect someone.

Jordan sat by me during the second period. My mom left us and went to sit next to my dad and Kris. "Looks like they like him." Jordan watched the game in front of him.

"I'm glad. My parents want me to be happy. I'm happy they see Kris is good for me." He looked at me and smiled and nodded his head to acknowledge what was happening behind me.

We watched Kris talk to my parents with ease. He had a smile on his face and told my mom something. She immediately put out her arms and pulled him into a hug. She looked like she was going to cry at any moment. My dad got up and pulled him into a hug next and slapped his back. I turned to Jordan, "What do you thinks going on?"

He had a grin on his face and turned back to the ice, "I have no idea."

I looked back over at my sister. She had found a spot next to Marc and Max. They were goofing around. She was throwing popcorn in the air and the two boys were trying to catch as many pieces as possible. There was a pile at their feet of all the pieces they had missed.

Kris walked towards us and sat down next to me. He placed a kiss on my cheek, "Good game so far."

"Sure is," Jordan said, still facing the ice. His phone rang and he looked down at the caller ID. He sighed and immediately excused himself to answer it.

I faced Kris, "What was that whole exchange with my parents just now?"

The smile still hadn't wiped off his face, "Just talking." I sighed and looked back at Jordan. Whoever he was talking to was frustrating him big time. I hadn't seen Jordan this angry in a long time. "He’s fighting with Heather."

"Really? What about?" I was curious. Jordan never mentioned what went on with Heather to me. I kept my eyes on Jordan. He was talking quietly, but fast. He was pacing back and forth.

Kris shrugged, "Who knows. That girl always wants something from him."

I was distracted from Jordan and Kris when the Gophers scored the first goal of the night. I jumped up and started screaming with the rest of the crowd. I finished singing the school song and looked each of the guys in the eyes, "You'd better be doing that tomorrow! I want a win!"

Kris just shook his head and pulled me back down into my seat. "Were you like this at the games last year?"

I smirked at him, "Don't be too embarrassed, I was a lot louder last year."
