Fairytales & Lullabies

I hummed along with the song on the radio. I was sharpening the last pair of skates before practice would start. The smile on face had been present since the ring was slipped onto my finger that morning.

Kris and I were all smiles on the car ride here. Kris wasn't able to concentrate on the road, but he managed. We agreed not to flat out tell anyone we were engaged just yet. If anyone found out, they would have to notice the ring on my finger. I was sure someone would notice as soon as we walked through the doors.

The ring was the one I had found in his bag a mere two months ago. With any sudden movement, the ring would sparkle. The Penguins were nearing the playoffs and Kris had said he didn't want to worry about asking me and his games. He didn’t want any distractions. I didn't mind at all. Sure, we hadn't been dating for very long, but it didn't matter. I know he is the one for me.

I made it through the entire practice without getting questions from the team. I stayed in my office after finishing my basic tasks. I tried to wait for as much of the team as possible to clear out before I went to the locker room to lay out practice jerseys for tomorrow. A few guys had hung around after practice but they never bothered me.

I was talking with Tyler while working on the stall next to him. He was telling me about a blind date he had the other night that was horrible. I couldn't help but laugh when he told me the girl flat out told him she had an STD and couldn't fuck him that night, unless he really wanted to.

I dropped what I was doing and bent over at the waist I was laughing so hard. My left hand was trying to cover my mouth and my right was clutching my stomach. "Sure, just laugh at misfortune! I left after she said that."

"What is that?!" Marc yelled, grabbing my hand had caught me off guard. He pulled my left hand out in front of us giving everyone in the room a clear view of the new ring on my left hand.

"Surprise?" I offered. Everyone in the room just clapped and slapped Kris on the back and hugged me in celebration.

"Vero’s going to be very upset if she doesn't find out from you." Marc said as he gave me a stern look.

"I'll tell her the next time I see her." I gave him a smile and he pulled me for a hug. “But I have a feeling you’ll be telling her as soon as you see her.” He laughed as he walked away pulling out his phone.

“Or right now!”

Sidney came up next, "I'm happy for you guys. You two ever need anything, just let me know."

"Thanks Sid." I leaned in for a hug but what I wasn't expecting was Jordan to pick up. He hooked one arm under my knees and the other on my back, almost like I was his bride. "Hi Jordy"

"Congrats Gretie," he smirked at me. I put my arms around his neck.

"You mind putting me down?" I asked with a smile. He gave in, but I was quickly pulled back in for a hug.

"I'm so excited for a wedding! What type of cake are you going to get?" He reminded me of a hyper child. It was all about how it was going to affect him.

"We just got engaged this morning! We haven't even thought about a date yet." Jordan continued to ask me questions to which I gave ridiculous answers to.

“Can I design your dress?” He followed me around the locker room as I finished up my work for the day.

“As long as it’s sparkly.”

He clapped, “Yes! Can I be you maid of honor?”

“As long as you wear a dress and get you hair and toenails done.”

“Deal! This is going to be the best wedding ever!”

I wasn't able to escape from Jordan until we left for our car. He eventually left me to go back to his own place. Kris and I made it back to our apartment and settled down from the exciting day.

"So Mrs. Letang, what would like to do for the rest of this lovely day?" I placed my hands on his face and lowered his lips to mine. Our kiss soon became heated and I lead him to our bedroom. Clothes were taken off and soon there was no barrier between us. In between kisses Kris whispered to me. "I can't wait to get married."
