Superman

hormones

The next day was a Saturday and we decided to spend it together. Do you know how excited I was when I woke up? I was literally jumping up and down, rolling around my bed and squealing while hugging your picture inside my room. I was that excited.

I spent hours just to find the perfect outfit which just consisted of a Rolling Stones shirt, black skinny jeans (they’re the only pants that I like) and my worn-out Ed Hardy shoes. God, I was so fucking plain (I still am).

It was a little after one in the afternoon when you knocked on my door, "Are you ready na ba, Zoe?"

‘Oh fucking hell! He's here, he's here, he's freaking here!’ I mentally screamed as I ran in circles around the room.

"Outfit? Check," I said as I stood on top of the chair, staring at myself on the mirror. I hurriedly fixed my hair and tucked a loose strand behind my ear.

"Armpits," I muttered to myself and smelled my armpits, taking in the flowery scent of my deodorant. "Check."

"Hormones? Check."

Jumping down from the chair, I was about to open the door when you knocked again and asked, "Are you done yet, Zoe?"

I let go of the doorknob and faced the wall before groaning softly. I bashed my head against the wall gently and whispered to myself, "This isn't a date. This isn't a date, Zoe. Keep your hormones in check, girl."

I turned and faced the door again. I mustered up all my courage and opened it. There you were, standing there with a smile on your handsome face.

"Didn't you know? This is clearly a date."

I gaped at you, shocked and happy at the same time. Although, I think my face was contorted into some hideous, ghastly expression.

You grinned and hooked your arm with mine. I blushed and silently hoped that you hadn’t heard me a few moments before.

As if you read my mind, you gave me a knowing wink that caused the blush on my cheeks to grow even more.

“Yes, I did hear everything."

Translation: 'na ba' almost the same as now but it's informal. Often used between friends or people who are the same age.
