I Must Be Blind, to Not Have Seen the Signs

“Pip, wakey wakey” I herd someone whisper and my eyes fluttered open but I had no idea where I was or who I was. I was laying down I knew that much, and I could feel someone’s arms around me. When I looked down I saw josh lying there sound asleep, snoring softly. Clearly it wasn’t him and when I looked to my left Henry was slightly leaning over me. “Come on love” he whispered again and took my hand.

I managed to untangle myself from josh, being careful not to wake him, and he led me into the empty front lounge. He slid his arms around me and I held onto him too as he kissed my forehead.

“Hey what time is it?” I asked

“About half 9, ive only just woken up” he said, stroking my hair lightly

“Sorry I didn’t come back last night. Josh was really bad and I didn’t want to leave him”

“Hey its fine love, don’t worry about it. Why don’t you get your stuff and we’ll head out yeah?”

I nodded my head and walked back down into where josh was, quickly pulling my jacket back on and sitting on the slide of the bed trying to slip my shoes on.

“He’s really sick huh?” I heard Henry whisper and I just nodded. “Well I’m glad he had you then”

I had a sudden urge to just kiss the boy. He was so perfect. I mean I’d just spent the night basically sleeping with another guy and he didn’t even care. Didn’t show one little bit of jealousy.

You know why? Cause we had trust. He trusted me so there was no need for him to be that way.

I jumped up and threw my arms around his neck, crashing my lips into his. He kissed me back with just as much force, sliding his arms around my waist.

I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have him.

Josh stirred from behind us, and we pulled apart quickly, but when I turned to face him, he was still asleep, but mumbling slightly. I giggled and Henry led me from the room before we snuck off the bus quietly.

I felt so happy, happier than I had in forever. I had the most perfect guy in the world and hopefully some new friends by the looks of things.

We were sat on the train, almost halfway home when I asked Henry what we we’re gonna do for the rest of the day.

“Ive um, ive got to get back to work”

“I thought you took the whole day off?”

“No just the morning” he said absentmindedly, whilst looking out the window, before kissing my forehead.

The rest of the journey was in silence and my mind wouldn’t keep away from josh. I slipped out my phone to send him a little text, hoping that he would feel better this morning.

Sorry I didn’t say goodbye

I didn’t expect a reply, figuring he was asleep still, but after a few minutes he texted me back.

Don’t worry about it
I feel much better now

I was about to text him back when we came to our stop and Henry walked me home. As soon as we got there it was like he couldn’t get away fast enough, but he claimed he was running late so I let him go.

After about 24 hours of being surrounded by people, I suddenly felt very lonely.
