Feels Like Home

Creepin' In

A couple weeks have gone by since Josh and I met for the first time. Things have been fairly steady between us, but we haven't fully come out about being an item. We've decided to take things fairly slow in hopes of keeping things steady since our schedules are going to get pretty crazy in the near future. Shooting for The Hunger Games starts in a week and both Josh and I have been busy with packing. When he isn't going through his script and taking notes, he usually swings by my place to help me work on my song for the soundtrack. Now, I know there are some musicians out there who can get a song for a soundtrack done within a matter of days, but I for one like to take my time and pace myself with the composing process so the end product sounds amazing!

I was in the middle of writing down some chords when my phone started ringing. I picked it up and Gary immediately began to ramble and question. “Do you think you could come down to the studio? We want to do a quick test run of how the mics sound with your instruments,” he explained. I heard a hint of fibbing in his voice, but agreed to go anyways. Who knows who'll be there- the only cast member I've met so far is Josh. I was rather curious to see who else had been casted, but I brushed the thought to the side. I would know who the cast was soon since I would be traveling down to North Carolina with the production team to continue my work on the soundtrack. I got into my car and headed down to the studio, turning on my radio as “Teenage Dream” came on. I couldn't help but grin and sing along to the catchy tune- it reminded me so much of Josh, I was pretty much singing it for him.

When I reached the studio, I noticed a larger amount of cars in the parking lot. Work, I thought to myself as I got out of the car. Gary was waiting for me near the entrance to lead me to the studio I'd be using. “A couple of cast members are here as well to do some voice over work, so you'l be able to meet them today,” he informed me as we arrived at the studio. I recognized a couple of the producers in the booth, but there was a girl in the recording area that struck my attention immediately. I had seen her before. Sandy blonde hair. Tan/fair complexion. I'd know her anywhere. As she turned around to face me, I couldn't help but smirk at the reaction on her face. “OH MY GOD!!!!!” she screamed, bolting out of the booth and pulling me into a huge hug. “Jen....Jen I can't breathe here!” I stammered with a laugh, hugging her back. “I'm guessing you two know each other?” Gary asked curiously, laughing as well. “Oh Kendra and I go way back!” Jennifer explained. “Played regional fastpitch together,” I added.

“Lemme guess- Katniss?” I asked her curiously, grinning when she nodded. “Jen that's awesome! You're gonna be great.” Her and I conversed for a while since the producers were still setting the mics up for both my voice and the piano in the studio. “And look at you! Out west and finally getting your name out there,” Jen said happily. I blushed slightly, remembering how badly I wanted to be doing what I was doing. “Yeah I finally made it,” I replied sheepishly, laughing softly. “I met your Peeta a few weeks ago,” I added, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “You mean YOUR Peeta?” Jen asked with a sly grin. My brows furrowed a little and expression read total confusion. “What do you mean?” “Gary filled me in on your first meeting with him and Josh- look at youuuu,” she repeated with a grin, nudging my arm teasingly which made me blush more.

“We're ready for you Kendra,” Gary called from the door to the recording studio. I walked back inside with Jen and walked into the recording area. “Anything in particular you want me to play?” I asked. Gary and the other producers shrugged. “Whatever comes to your mind,” he replied. I nodded and sat down at the piano, racking my brain of possible song options. I had a song choice within minutes, took a deep breath and started playing.

Have you ever felt so strong
That it made you feel weak
Long days
Long nights
And you just can't sleep

Have you ever been so sure
That it gave you cold feet
That felt all bare
You can feel your heart beat

Well I never knew this feeling never
Now I hope it stays and last forever
I am riding high
I don't want to come down
Hope my wings don't fail me now
And If I can touch the sky
I'd risk to fall just to know how it feels to fly

Say yeah yeah yeah yeah
Say yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah

Have you ever felt so lost
But didn't know until you were found
Looking everywhere
What you finally see know

In the room full of people
Feels like no one's around
Got your head in the clouds
And your feet are off the ground

Say I never knew this feeling, never
Now I hope it stays and last forever
I am ridin high
I don't want to come down
Hope my wings don't fail me now
And If I can touch the sky
I'd risk to fall just to know how it feels to fly

Say yeah yeah yeah yeah
Say yeah yeah yeah yeah
We get to go

Higher
Higher
Higher

I am ridin high
I don't want to come down
Hope my wings don't fail me now
And If I can touch the sky
I'd risk to fall just to know how it feels to fly

There were a couple minutes of silence when I finished singing and I opened my eyes to see Jen in tears. “Was I that bad?” I asked into the mic. She shook her head and started clapping, the others in the booth following. “That was amazing!” she said as she walked into the recording area, pulling me into another hug. “God this is what happens when I don't hear you sing for so long!” she joked with a laugh. “Glad you like it,” I replied with a grin. “Please tell me that's going on your album!” she pleaded. “Umm...well I'm just working on the soundtrack for right now, but if I do an album afterwards, I'll make sure it's on there,” I assured her with a grin.

After the crew got the mic settings figured out for me, I was able to go home. My phone went off again as I walked to my car. “Hello stranger,” I greeted into my phone, my heart fluttering as Josh's laugh came in from the other line. “Hi to you too,” he greeted sweetly. “What are you up to right?” he asked. “Umm just finished with some work at the studio, so I'm heading home. Why what's up?” There was a small pause before he answered. “My parents are in town and I would like you to meet them if you don't have any plans.” “Right now?” I asked, looking at my watch as I started up my car. “Whenever you're ready- no rush,” Josh replied. “I'll call you when I get back home okay?” I said, buckling up and checking my hair in the mirror. “Sounds good- love you,” Josh said softly. “I love you too,” I mused sweetly before hanging up and heading home.

Well. This'll be fun, I thought to myself.
No pressure.
