Be Like You

Greece

“I can’t believe we’re in Greece” I grinned at Harry who was pushing James’s stroller through the hotel.

He chuckled, “Just enjoy it Lizzie, we’re here for the week.”

Entering the hotel room, I noticed there was only one large king size bed. I turned to Harry giving him a look.

“I asked for the presidential room, but they only had it with one bed, and anyways you can take one end and I’ll take the other. You’ll never know I was there” he assured me, setting down our bags and pushing the stroller to the bed as he unhooked James who was reaching
out his arms to get picked up.

“The beach is private, the hotel provides plenty of security and the tree canopy’s and rock cliffs don’t provide access for helicopters.” Harry noted as he changed James from the winter
clothes he had flown in from London into a t-shirt with swim trunks.

“So beach?” I asked excitedly.

He nodded slipping on flip flops into James’s feet, laying him down on the bed and putting the pillows all around him so he couldn’t roll of the bed. He started digging through his suitcase for a similar outfit to James as I grabbed my bikini and headed into the bathroom to change.

Stepping out of the bathroom in nothing but my bathing suit, kneeling for my cover-up. Soon enough we found ourselves in sunglasses and walking down the stone path, James’s stroller containing everything from a floater for him and sunscreen to three bottles of apple juice.

“Lizzie, let’s go in the water already” Harry complained as I put on a second coat of sunscreen on James.

“You want to spend all night with him crying from sunburns?” I asked amused.

Sighing he shook his head, “I’ll start getting his float ready.”

I laughed as he started blowing into the only hole of the float he insisted on buying before the trip. Eventually we made our way in the water, sitting on our knees in the water.

“Does someone like the water?” Harry cooed at James who was giggling uncontrollably using his little arms to splash the water.

“Thank you” I murmured looking at him, “For the trip.”

He nodded kissing my forehead, “You’re welcome”

Grinning I started kissing James’s face everywhere, hearing his laugh made my day every time. He and Harry were sporting black ray bans, looking identical I couldn’t help but want to take a picture, which was a bad idea remembering we were still in the water.

We spent a few more hours in the sun; we couldn’t spend much time out there with James since he was still so small.

Giving James a bath, I changed him into a some pajamas and set him down for a nap in the crib the hotel was supplying us with for our stay.

“I made reservations for dinner tonight at an authentic Greek restaurant and if you want we can leave James with a nanny for the night; completely up to you.” Harry noted as I joined him in the living room.

“I don’t know how I feel about leaving him alone”

“It’s only high end clients and celebrities staying here, he’d be at the day care with certified employees” he chuckled.

I agreed to leave him for a few hours at the day care as long as he promised that we wouldn’t be gone long tonight.

Showering the ocean water out of my hair and the sand off my body, it took me a while to find something to wear and get ready. I knew I was purposely taking my time so I could avoid
leaving James, but I had to get over it and leave him at some point. I didn’t want to be those
mothers who would start sobbing when leaving their baby but I just couldn’t help it.

He meant the world to me and I was desperate to keep him safe and sound at all times, it was my motherly instinct kicking into hard drive.

“Lizzie, we’re going to miss our reservation. Finish getting ready and I’ll get James set up for daycare. But hurry up.”

Once we actually got to the day care I kept an iron grip on James, kissing his face repeatedly until Harry rolled his eyes, pulling him from my grasp and handing him to the employee, “We should be back in around an hour” he let her know before ushering me out to the lobby and into the car waiting for us.

Getting to the restaurant we got seated right away, not speaking as we looked at the menu and ordering, “I was hoping I could talk to you about something” Harry said, my attention going back to him, “I know we haven’t had the easiest of relationships yet alone history. But you and James mean the world to me, and I want you to know how much you mean to me.”

“What are you getting at?” I asked confused,

“Let me finish” he scolded amused, “You don’t realize how much you mean to me, Lizzie I’d give the world to you if you asked. I just want you to know how I feel about you.”

I didn’t want to have this conversation. Months ago in Australia I’d come to terms with knowing I’d lost him and the chance at being with him. Crying myself to sleep for months was enough for me to know that as much as I loved him and always would; it wouldn’t be worth the pain.

There was always something keeping us apart and I just wouldn’t be able to handle
everything again. We actually got along now thanks to James, and us getting back together could only result in another separation and I wouldn’t be able to look past it again.

“I care about you too, you’re my sons father. You’ll always be in my life” I murmured not looking at him; I dug into the food we had ordered and kept silent the rest of the dinner.

When we arrived at the hotel I offered to pick James up and let Harry go up the to the hotel room on his own, I sighed calling Meagan to ask for help.

“You’re fucking with me right? He finally admits he still loves you and you reject him in the worst way possible?” Meagan shrieked as I explained what he had confessed.

“Meagan” I whined, “I can’t handle another breakup.”

“He’s not going to break things off with you this time” she sighed, “You think he wants to lose you and James? Hell no, he’s going to praise the ground you walk on and everything else. So go upstairs, put James to sleep and have great mind blowing sex” she ordered.

“I’ll put him to sleep” Harry let me know, taking James from me when I got back to the room.

He didn’t let me say anything, just storming off to the bedroom and closing the door behind him, I waited on the couch patiently wondering if Meagan had a point.

Harry had been a great help with James, in just the month we’d been living together he’d been there so many more ways than I thought he would ever be, he’d been there for anything that
I needed and I couldn’t ask for more.

Throwing my head back I groaned in frustration, I couldn’t make my mind up and it was starting to drive me crazy.

I didn’t notice Harry walking into the living room until the couch shifted and I noticed him sitting across from me.

“I’m sorry.” I apologized softly, “I should have listened to what you had to say. I just panicked.”

He stared at me for the longest time, opening and closing his mouth before he could say anything I blurted out the words I never thought, “I love you.”

“Wait. What?” he stuttered?

There was no point anymore, I’d told him how I felt and I wasn’t repeating myself, leaning forward I grabbed his collar, pulling him forward so I could meet him halfway. Pressing my lips against him I waited for a reaction.

Eventually after what felt like forever, he kissed back not wasting time in pushing me against my back and hovering over me.

“Can we please give us another chance” he begged pulling away, looking straight into my eyes.

I nodded smiling, “Just promise me, promise that we’ll actually work out this time?”

“The only way you’re getting rid of me this time love is if you kick me to the curb” he chuckled pecking my lips.
