Three Cheers

"So, I'm collateral damage now?"

The girls had gone to bed that night having heard the news from Gerard and I. Thora had promised that she wouldn't tell anyone, and we had to remind her that she it was important not to. We trusted her; I did more than Gerard had.

We got into bed, quietly, the both of us smiling like fools. Gerard pulled me close to him and wrapped his arms around my middle, his palms flat around my belly. The baby was barely beginning to kick, but when he did, it was always Gerard's hand that got kicked.

He nuzzled his face against my neck and kissed the spot there, "He's a fuckin' kicker."

"Because he knows you're there." I murmured.

Gerard let me go, sat up and pulled the comforter away from my stomach. He pushed my shirt up and pressed his palm there; his wedding band was cool against my skin. The baby kicked, Gerard grinned, "Hey there, kid."

I bit my lip, giggling, "No more nicknames."

Gerard leaned down and kissed the side of my protruding belly, "I'm still callin' 'em kid. I can't wait to meet you, kid."

The baby kicked again, it was softer and tickled. Gerard grinned, "They like you."

"Of course they like me," He said in a smug tone, "I'm their daddy. I created them."

I rolled my eyes, "You helped. I'm actually doin' all the work."

Gerard sat back up beside me, "I know you are." He kissed my cheek. "Who do you think they'll look like?"

"You." I answered with a smile. "Born with that goofy grin, that pointy little nose and those pouty lips."

Gerard gave a small laugh, "I think the baby'll look like you, since Biz looks so much like me."

"You think so?"

"Sure. Unless you get a raw deal and have the baby look like me...again." He jested.

"It won't be a raw deal. I've seen your baby pictures, and you were so cute." I puckered my lips and kissed his.

He had that lazy smile upon his lips, "Were?" He added that smirk, "I still am cute."

I cupped his cheek and kissed him again, "No, you're handsome."

"Okay," he smiled still, his teeth tugging at his bottom lip, "I'm handsome."

We laid there for a moment, quiet ready to fall asleep. Gerard kissed me, then, his hand rolled up my chest and around my neck; then he paused, "I can't believe you put Busy's tooth in that little jar."

I had a tiny jar from a craft project not to long ago and placed Busy's baby tooth in it. It had a small ball chained necklace that I managed to attach to it. It jiggled when Gerard shook it; I laughed and touched the small jar, "I wanted to keep it close. Speaking of which, I gotta go give her some money."

He chuckled as I slipped out of bed, "Are you serious?"

"Yes, Gerard, I am the Tooth Fairy."

He laughed again, "Oh my God."

"I gotta give her a note, too."

Gerard watched as I went to my purse and took some money out and then went to my desk and began to write Busy a note. I made sure to write as inconspicuous as I could with one of the colored pens I hid from her and Thora. I folded the note with the money inside and hushed Gerard, "Be quiet."

He zipped his lips and smiled at me. I left the room and tip-toed across to Busy's; I could hear her snoring, just like Gerard and went in. She's a light sleeper, she and Thora, most nights, so I had to be careful. I went to her bed; her yellow star night light beside her bed lit up the space around her bed; I found her curled up at the end of her bed. I went to her pillow first and slipped the note and money underneath, and retrieved hers. I placed the note between my lips and then I moved Busy correctly on her pillow; tomorrow was her deep sleep night. I covered her up, kissed her head and left her room, shutting the door quietly behind me.

I returned to our bedroom, the note still between my lips and shut the door. Gerard cocked a brow, "What's that?"

I took the note out and said; "A note for me, a-la Tooth Fairy."

"Read it." He urged as I returned to the bed.

I hummed and unfolded it; "We cannot tell her."

"I won't." He scoffed.

I looked the note over; her handwriting was neat, "She's good."

"She's a fuckin' genius, that's why." He laughed.

I began to read what she wrote; "Dear Tooth Fairy: I'm sorry that I gave mama your tooth, but I think she wants it more than you. You can have the next one and take one of Thora's or the baby's too. But, when their older 'cuz babies don't have teeth. You could take one of daddy's, mama says he has funny little teeth like mine. Love Busy M. Way."

I cooed, "Aw! That's so cute!"

"So, I'm collateral damage now?"

I smirked, "I guess so."

Gerard grinned, "I'll gladly owe you a tooth, Sugar."

I folded the note and put it in the drawer, "What if I don't want your tooth?"

He narrowed his eyes with a playful glare, "What'd you want instead?"

I patted his cheek, "You'll see one of these days."

He rolled his eyes and kissed me. "Uh-huh."

The next morning, we woke up to Thora jumping up and down on our bed, "The Tooth Fairy left B monies!"

I sat up while Gerard grumbled; "Sit, Baby. Where's Biz?"

"In the bathroom," Thora bounced on her butt. "She's got monies!"

"I heard you," I told her, "What time is it?" I asked her.

"Time to get up." She said matter-of-factly.

I laughed softly, "School?"

She nodded, "Uh-huh."

"Go brush your teeth, then you and Busy can show me her money."

Thora hummed and jumped off the bed; she ran off to the hall. Busy came into the room a moment later, and smiled at me, "She left me note!"

I grinned back, cheering for her, "She did? What'd she write ya?"

Busy came over and sat on the bed, "She said she's happy you have my tooth and that I'll be a good big sister. She gave $5!"

My brows shot up, showing her excitement, "Wow. I guess daddy was right."

"Yeah. But, $100 would be cooler." She smiled deviously at me; she looked just like Gerard.

"Maybe, one day, Biz. Who knows." I kissed her cheek. "Are you gonna save it?"

"Yep."

"Good, you can buy whatever you want. Now, you, make sure you and Thora there get dressed for school, alright?"

Busy nodded, and hopped off the bed. I rolled over and patted Gerard, "It's your turn to take them."

He sighed, "Yeah, yeah, I know."

"Don't sigh at me." I shoved him playfully.

He sat up, rubbed his eyes and kissed me, "Get back to sleep, woman, you deserve it."

I smiled at him, "Thank you. Our baby thanks you too."

He ran his hand over my belly, "You're welcome October and Baby."

•••

We all managed not to tell anyone, though we had a few little trips with Thora, but no one picked up on them. Of course, everyone had their bids, even some of the press were questioning us.

It was due to the fact that my dad and his band were on their way to releasing a new album. The press were all over the family about it, about news, and then it was about Gerard and I having a baby. The news of my dad's band, mixed with us was like a whirlwind of people wanting to know about me, Busy and Thora.

We couldn't really go anywhere without photographers following us. Thora loved it; she liked meeting knew people; even if they were taking pictures of her for no reason. She would wave and greet them, I would tell her not to, but she didn't listen. Busy didn't like it, she was quiet, and a few times she kicked one photographer; everyone thought it was cute. I had to make sure the girls were always at my side when we went out, just in case.

For my parents anniversary, we all got together (including Fran, Frank and Anthony) at my folks house. Thora was itching to tell everyone, but we told her to tell everyone after dinner and after we had cake. She kept practicing the way she would announce the baby's sex and his name.

About that; she and Busy hated the name. Busy just didn't like it, and Thora wanted to call him Thor the Great, after herself. Gerard and I compromised by letting Thora call him Ronan the Great; she seemed to like it.

At my parents, Thora bounced around and teased everyone that she knew what the baby was and they didn't. Gerard kept warning her about it, but it seemed to fall on deaf eyes. When my parents finally cut the cake, Thora looked to me with expectation; "Can I?"

"No." Gerard told her, "Just wait."

"Let her tell us." My dad chimed in, "We want to know."

Thora grinned, "Can I? Grandpa said so."

I sighed, "Okay, okay."

Thora stood up on her chair, took in a deep death and opened her mouth, "Mama said it's a boy!"

Everyone awed, and then Frank laughed, "You owe me $10, Fran."

"You guys bet on my baby?" Gerard asked with a laugh.

"We sure did," Frank held out his hand to Frances, "C'mon, pay up babe."

Fran leaned over and pecked him on the cheek, "As long as you're married to me, you'll never be without $10."

I shook my head at them. Thora continued, smiling, "Daddy says his name is Ronan. I don't like it, but I'm gonna call him Ronan the Great."

Everyone cooed at Thora, sharing in the excitement. Everyone was talking and asking us about the name, to which I told them it was all Gerard's idea. I watched everyone relish in the news, saying how happy they were, and how they couldn't wait to see whom he would favor once he was born.

It made it all worth it.
