Three Cheers

"I can't help myself, I'm in love with him."

Busy ran around the empty house, awing in each room she ran into; "I like this one!" she would exclaim.

Gerard and the realtor followed behind her, while I looked the large living room over with Thora. She cooed and rested her head against my chest; she was ready for her nap. I bounced her gently as I looked out the sliding doors, leading to the larger backyard with a fenced off pool.

The house is amazing. Everything was in reach and the rooms were large. Perfect for us.

"October, c'mere." Gerard called to me.

I turned my heel, heading down the hall towards the bedrooms. I entered the master bedroom where the realtor was explaining the open skylight in the room. My eyes widened as I looked up; the sun shined right down into the room.

"It has automatic blinds, so the sun won't shine in. You can see the stars clearly at night." the female realtor put on the charm, smiling at us.

"That's the kicker, right?" Gerard asked, "That's what jacks up the price?"

The realtor, Pam, shrugged, "Sometimes, but I think the price is reasonable for you all."

Busy ran in the room that moment, "Can we buy it?! I loves it here, daddy!"

Gerard picked her up and then looked over at me, "October, what do you think?"

"I love it, it's perfect." I answered truthfully, "I want it."

Gerard smiled, "Are you sure?"

I nodded, "Yep. We negotiated a price, it's amazingly priced right."

Pam nodded, "I agree. So, you want it? You're the head honcho, Gerard."

He chuckled, "Alright... We'll take it. For my girls."

Busy cheered, "Yay!" she went on and kissed Gerard's cheek, "Thanks, daddy."

The move into the house was swifter than I thought it'd be. Busy was a big help, more so than myself. I was able to move things from my office/sowing room with ease, but everything else was a challenge.

Busy had taken most of her bedroom and put it in boxes and once they were at our new home, she put everything in the large living room so we could paint her bedroom. She was kind of upset that Thora was getting her own room. She was afraid that Thora would cry and miss her.

"She'll sleep A-OK without me?" Busy asked as I set Thora in her crib; my dad had brought it over easily into the living room.

"Yeah, Biz," I knelt beside her, "You want me to put the baby monitor in your room so you can hear her?"

Busy nodded, "Uh-huh."

"And, since daddy, Uncle BJ and Grandpa are moving everything in, we can go get paint and decorate Thora's room."

"Paint for me too?" she asked sweetly.

I chuckled, "Yes, babe."

The following hour, as the men reassembled and organized, Thora, Busy, Fran and I went to Home Depot to get paint. Busy skipped in front of us, humming happily. Fran pushed the cart, while I pushed Thora's stroller.

"Could I confide in you, October?" Fran asked me as we got to the paint swatches; she had looked worried and with wonder.

I frowned slightly, "Of course, Frances. Why would you think you couldn't?"

She bit her lip, "I don't know, I just figured you'd worry about it too much."

"Well, what's up?" I asked; my eyes wondered to Busy who was looking over the pink paint swatches.

"Am I moving too fast with Frank?"

"I don't think so," I said with a shrug, "I mean, you've been dating for what, 3 weeks?"

"Yeah, but..." she trailed as she walked towards where busy was and I followed, "I'm head over heels in love."

I smiled, "Really?"

"Yeah, I think so," she sighed, "I can't help myself, I'm in love with him."

"So what's the problem?"

"He's going back to Jersey soon and I don't know what to do with myself. I'm dreading his leave... What will I do in his absence?"

"Hang out with us," I chuckled, "But, seriously, busy yourself with work."

Busy looked at me, "Huh?"

I laughed softly, "Remember, B, your name means other things too."

She shook her head, "Confuses me."

I laughed again and kissed her head, "Sorry, find a good color for Thora."

"I am!" she huffed at me, "So many cute colors, mama."

"Find the cutest."

"I'm on it."

I turned back to Fran, "Touring will be the same, y'know."

She frowned, "I know... Damn, I'm in love. It's shit."

"But it's worth it. If you love him, it'll be worth it."

Frank bit her lip again, "I hope so..."

Busy found a peach color for Thora's room and a bright cotton candy color for her own. Upon our arrival home, Gerard was prepping the rooms to paint. My dad, Frank and Busy got started in her room, while Gerard and I did Thora's. Fran took Thora to the old house to let her have some fresh air and to nap.

"How did you come up with this color?" Gerard asked curiously.

"B picked it out."

"It's a nice color," he murmured.

"Biz said its the color she sees when she looks at Thora."

Gerard chuckled, "That's funny."

"Biz is odd, but she's got great taste."

"She got it from me." Gerard said cockily as he began to pain the wall beside me.

I rolled my eyes, "You wish."

"I know." he stated.

"Give it up, she got it from me. I have style."

Gerard looked at me, "Oh really?"

"Yes really. Who's the designer here? Me or you?"

He frowned, "You. But, that don't mean anything."

"Says the man who bleached his hair."

Gerard was silent as I laughed quietly. He finally sighed after a minute or so, "Touché."

"Uh-huh. She got her style from me."

"You win."
