Amber Waves of Pain
We're all the same, in the beginning.
I won’t go into the specifics, but in that blessed moment of union that creates a child, we are all alike. In that one instant, we are not unique, we do not have our destinies laid out, we are indistinguishable. No matter who we will eventually become, the possibilities for that fetus are limitless. But as time goes on, we develop and break the connection that keeps all new life together. We form the faces that we will be judged for, the smiles that we will share with friends. We are unique.
Unless, of course, you happened to have identical twins, like me. They were the same. I imagined foolishly that they would stay that way forever- that we would stay that way forever. The four of us, together, in my perfect little fantasy. It didn’t seem that far-fetched. But no, I had to ruin that. I had to die.
