Noble Blood Is Not Limited to Birth

Chapter one

Chapter One
It is said some lives are linked across time,
connected by an ancient calling,
that echoes through the ages.
...Destiny...
Fifteen years later
I’m sat on my horse watching Dastan fight. He gets punched and falls back the crowd of soldiers around them holding him up.
“Come on. I bet my entire months allowance on this. This is embarrassing” Bis says
“Why don’t you give it a try?” Dastan retorts I just laugh
“Get in there” Bis says pushing Dastan back into the fight
“Is that all you’ve got” Dastan says while in a headlock
“Oh come on, you can do better than that.” I shout playfully over the sound of the cheering crowd. He gets a few more punches in before getting put back in a headlock
“Prince Dastan” Shouts a mounted soldier riding around looking for him. Dastan, now on the floor with his opponent on top of him holding him in yet another headlock.
“Where is Prince Dastan?” The soldier shouts.
“Prince Dastan isn’t here” Dastan says still pinned down. I laugh along with a few other people.
“Your highness please, Prince Tus has convened the war council” The soldier declares and people gasp.
“I’m on my way” Dastan says getting up still laughing. He goes to a nearby river to clean himself of dirt and sweat I follow him on my horse
“You know, my horse could fight better than you” I mock with a small laugh and a smirk while he washes his face I can see a few of his battle scars on his back, some of which he’s lucky to be alive and each day I thank the gods he is.
“And you think you could do better?” He plays a long, standing up, turning around facing me snapping me out of my thoughts. He walks closer to me putting on hand on the top of the saddle.
“Oh believe me, I know I can” I say leaning forward on my left knee.
“Is that so?” he says and we stare at each other silently for half a minute. Suddenly, before I could react Dastan pulled me off my horse and I was on my back, on the floor, pinned down by Dastan.
“You’re not as good as you think” he says. Without reply I kick him over my head and he rolls into the river. I get back up fast and turn around just as he surfaces spitting water out of his mouth and facing me.
“What was that?” he asks surprised.
“You being beaten by a woman” I laugh as he trudges out of the water. I go to my horse that has walked off a little bit and get his shirt that he tossed to me before the fight out of my saddle bag and turn around and throw it at him without aiming, it hitting him in the face. I swing back up onto the saddle.
“Your brother is waiting” I remind him before he puts his shirt on and gets on the back of my horse.
“I will get you back” he says seriously yet jokingly and we ride off to the council.
Dastan’s P.O.V

I go to a nearby river to clean myself of dirt and sweat and I hear a horse following me, I know who it is. My ever trusted, pain in the backside best friend ~~~
“You know, my horse could fight better than you” she mocks with a small laugh while I’m washing my face.
“And you think you could do better?” I play a long standing up, turning around to face her she looks like she was just deep in thought, but quickly brushed it away. I walk closer to her who is still sat on her horse and put one hand on the top of the saddle.
“Oh believe me, I know I can” she say’s leaning forward on her left knee.
“Is that so?” I say and we stare at each other silently for half a minute until I decide to test her theory. Before she could react I pull her off her horse and she was on her back, on the floor, pinned down.
“You’re not as good as you think” I say. I then get kicked over her head and I roll into the river. I get back up fast and spit the water out of my mouth and face her, who has just gotten up also.
“What was that?” I ask surprised.
“You being beaten by a woman” She laughs and goes to her horse that has walked off a little bit as I trudge out of the water, walking straight towards her determined to get her back when I suddenly get hit in the face with my shirt. I grab it and she’s already back up on the horse, just when I was about to grab her again she reminds me
“Your brother is waiting” she states. I put my shirt on and get on the back of her horse
“I will get you back” I state seriously and jokingly and we ride off to the council.
Your P.O.V

A soldier opens a crate and swords come pouring out.
“Our finest spy, intercepted a caravan, leaving Alamut.” Nizam holds a sword up “Swords of the best workmanship. Steel-tipped arrows.” Nizam says as a soldier hands an arrow to Garsiv
“And promise of payment from the warlord Kosh to Alamut.” Tus Says “They’re selling weapons, to our enemies Dastan” Tus says putting a large scroll on the table in front of Dastan
“An arrow such as this slew my horse in Koshcan. Blood will run in Alamut’s streets for this” Garsiv declares throwing the arrow he’s holding to Bis.
“Or our soldiers will fall from its walls. Our orders were to subdue Koshcan. Not to attack Alamut.” Dastan proclaims standing up facing Tus and Nizam.
“Wise words, little brother” Tus says “Words won’t stop our enemies once they’re armed with Alamushian blades” Nizam states. Tus stands up and walks around thinking and Nizam puts the sword he was holding down and Tus thinks for a short while.
“We attack at dawn” Tus says.
“But this is Alamut. A holy city why would they-” I start forgetting my place, but I get cut off anyway.
“Hold your tongue, woman, what do you know of matters such as these” Garsiv yells at me I just give him a glare. There’s a long silence
“We’ll if that’s your decision let me go in first.” Dastan says. Garsiv starts laughing.
“Thoughts to share, Garsiv?” Tus says.
“I ride at the head of the Persian army, Dastan leads a company of street rabble” Garsiv shouts.
“Well they may not be much for manners but they’re pretty handy in a fight” Dastan defends
“Besides, he’s got me. I’m as good a fighter as any man you fight alongside.” I butt in.
“The honour of first blood should be mine” Garsiv declares ignoring my comment
“Garsiv your hands on your sword again” Dastan announces I then realize my hand is also resting on my sword, so I remove it and cross my arms.
“Where it should be” Garsiv states “Ohh my brothers. Ever eager” Tus says chuckling
“It’s said the Princess of Alamut is a beauty without equal. We’ll march into her palace and see for ourselves” Tus says then eats a grape with a few people chuckling. Tus walks towards Dastan and takes his hand and leads him out of the way of everyone and has a small talk with him
“There can be no doubt about your courage Dastan. But you’re not ready for this.” I hear Tus say to Dastan.
“Garsiv’s cavalry will lead the way” Tus announces. Garsiv, pleased with the decision bows with a grin on his face and everyone departs.
“They underestimate you” I say walking over to him. He keeps his gaze forward. “The sooner they-” I get interrupted
“~~~” he says turning his head slightly to face me.
“You’re planning to go in anyway” I state grinning. He looks at me also with a grin on his face a Bis comes over.
“Get the men ready” He says to us.
“Remind me why we’re disobeying your brothers’ orders” Bis asks as we’re crawling through the grass towards the East gate of the castle.
“Because Garsiv only knows how to attack head on. It’ll be a massacre. The Alamushians will be busy at the main gate so we’ll slip through the side” Dastan explains we get up and run to the wall holding onto a pole, which as we get to the wall Dastan runs up, as we push the pole and two of our men shoot arrows into the wall. One of them ricochets of the wall, nearly hitting Dastan, he looks to the archers slightly frustrated. They shoot another without delay and he continues to climb up. One of the arrows come loose so the archers shoot another when he gets to the top of the wall the archers signal to him where the guard is on the wall. Dastan moves into position then presumably knocks the guard out against the wall.
“Come on, Dastan” I say impatiently waiting for him to throw the rope down. “Eager to do some killing?” Bis asks
“I was born for battle, just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I don’t have a warriors heart” I reply with a smirk.
“Dastan!” I say again then decide to go up the same way as he had. I get the men to hold the pole up as I climb up, then climb the arrows. I jump over the wall and Dastan turns around about to attack until he see’s it’s me. He looks confused but ties the rope off and drops it down as I tie another and Dastan moves onto a third rope. When they’re all up Dastan relays the plan to us. “That’s our way in. There are two gates. The outer one’s easy, it’s the inner gate that’s impossible.” Dastan says.
“Almost impossible” I correct him, which causes him to smirk.
“That gate mechanism is protected by two manned guard towers” Bis states “Yeah, well. There’s always a way in, Bis” I say
“Bis, you take care of the outer gate, you leave the impossible one to me and ~~~” Dastan says
“You know sire, you won’t be happy until you get us all killed” Bis Scowls
“Ooh wonderful speech Bis. Rousing” Dastan jokes and we all get up, everyone but me, who hasn’t got one, sort there shields out and we follow him along the wall towards the gates. When we’re in range of the first tower the archer shoots the guard inside it alerting the other tower guard
“Sound the alarm” he shouts before he also gets shot. The alarm sounds and soldiers pour in and attack us. The men head down for the outer gate and me and Dastan head for the inner gate having to fight our way to it while we’re all being shot at. Dastan almost gets shot but puts his shield up in time he jumps across the corner heading for the archers below. Our guy in front gets killed in front of me and I’m left fighting two soldiers when our archers shoot the soldiers in front of me so I have a clear path ahead of me. More soldiers come out of the tower and I jump down the steps since the bodies of the soldiers are blocking my path and I help Dastan fight them. Dastan ties the dazed soldiers up
“Hold this” he says to one of the soldiers. He jumps over the rail going for the archer on the ledge below. The soldiers he tied up are pulled to the rail and knocked out. I fight off another couple of soldiers that come from the tower and notice Dastan climbing back up as more archers come. Dastan then starts climbing the wall towards the archers window and I use the door having to kill a few more soldiers inside. I get to Dastan who’s taken care of the archers and more soldiers come which we fight. Dastan throws a soldier over the back wall just as I kill the one I am fighting. We then take care of the gate winch.
“Watch your back” Dastan says then uses a soldier to prop the gate winch open.
“Good thinking” I say. He smiles and signals Bis and the men to open the gate and to Signal Tus. Bis then signals back to us that the army is re deploying. That’s when I hear the Alamushian army chanting. I run to the wall and see them heading down the streets our way.
“Dastan” I shout to get his attention. Dastan turns around. I look back to see his worried facial expression. I look back to the army, we cannot take on the full Alamushian army. I look around outside to see if I can see anything that might help. I turn around but cannot see Dastan. I walk to where he had been and looked through the archer’s window to see Bis and his men still stood around the gate. I turn around then see a light above I look up to see a gap in the roof where Dastan must’ve gone, I look up trying to see him.
“Dastan?” I question the air just as he comes swinging down on a rope, he pulls the rope up fast.
“Tie the end of this onto the weight, quickly” he says handing me the rope pointing to the gate weight I tie it onto it quickly. I get out of the way and he swings his sword at the weight rope but it doesn’t cut all the way through though so he does it again successfully. I hear creaking and snapping above. “Pass me the torch” Dastan says. I quickly pass him the torch and he throws it at the oil waterfall now flowing behind us. As the oil lit I could feel the heat almost burn my face. I slide down the rope and walk to Bis and turn around just as he slides down the rope drawing his swords as he walked towards us smiling. The cavalry then got here and my horse came to me with them.
“Good boy” I say getting on his back then patting his neck
“Try not to get yourself killed, Bis” I say then kick my horse, it rears up then runs, jumping over the fiery pile of wood and oil. I ride through the streets cutting down any enemy in my path. Suddenly someone jumps off the wall knocking my horse over throwing me off him. I fight the soldier getting cut on my arm before killing him and getting back on my horse. I cut down a few more enemies before something then hits me on the back of the head causing me to fall to the floor unconscious. When I come-to I hear trumpets sounding and feel like I’m getting nudged in my side, I open my eyes to see my horse nudging me. I get up slowly with a sore head and pat my horse.
“Good boy” I say and kiss him on the forehead, he whinnies a bit and I get back on his back and decide to go and look for Dastan.
I see Dastan looking at a rather beautiful looking dagger and I ride over to him. “What a remarkable dagger” I state dismounting and holding the reigns. He nods but just keeps looking at it.
“Prince Dastan” Bis shouts coming over to us “Prince Dastan” he says right behind Dastan, who turns around
“Bis, you’re still alive” I state with a giggle
“Our men have surrounded Alamut’s palace. The battle is over.”
“Yet another victory for Persia over our enemies” I say then decide to go and get cleaned up.
I’m sat with the rest of the men sharpening my sword when soon enough Dastan shows his face.
“Here he is, the man of the hour” I say pointing my sword to him playfully “Prince Dastan, the lion of Persia” gaining cheers from the men. I lower my sword and bow a little then sit back down with a smile. Just then some soldiers rode past
“Hail, the lion of Persia” a couple of them shouted as they went.
“They’re calling you the lion of Persia” Tus said walking over to him, they both walked a little way away and talked. Shortly after Dastan came back.
“First round’s on me” he says and motions us all to follow him.
