Tristis Nox

Re-Growing a World

Time always warps when erasing and re-growing a world. It could take minutes or years or millennia, it all depends on that particular world. My powers slowly ate away at the atoms of the grass, plants, corpses, water, and everything else on the world until it was nothing but celestial dust. As the dust floated around in space, it was gathered again as I reshaped it into a new innocent planet. When I came to again, I stood on a flat plane with little sprouts of green scattered about it. The sky was the clearest blue anyone had ever seen, almost a white in color. The air was fresh with new life and no pollutants corrupted it. As wonderful as this planet promised to be, I still missed its mother planet where all my friends once lived.
The wind gently blew my long hair about; teasing my long black uniform jacket with its playing. “Tristis, it is time to leave.” Vay placed a firm hand on my shoulder.
My eyes slid to look at him and wryly asked, “What planet am I to go cleanse this time?”
Vay’s lips twitched into an unsure smile, “Actually, your missions have been put on hold.” My blond eyebrow rose in intrigued curiosity. “You have been summoned by the Lexicon Counsel. Our request to appeal your punishment has been approved and your date is in two Eden days.”
My breath hitched in my chest as my eyes dilated in shock and I asked, “I get to go home?”
With a gentle smile, Vay replied, “Yes, Tristis, you get to go home.” I could not contain my excitement as I squealed and pounced on him. “ARG!” Vay cried as we fell to the ground and I held him tight. “Tris, cannot breathe!” He gasped out.
“Oh, sorry Vay.” I laughed. I let go and sat up; still straddling him. I bounced on his stomach with uncontainable giddiness. “Ready to go?” I could feel myself grinning from ear to ear.
“Of course, but first you need to get off of me.” He laughed. I grinned down at him, got up, and offered him a hand. He readily took it and replied, “Let us be off then.”
I looked back over the land and said one final prayer. *I’m sorry my friends… let this be the last time this world must be cleansed. Let peace and good reign. Farewell.* I turned my back on the young land, looped my arm through Vay’s, and said, “Let’s go.”
*I’m going home at last.*

And at last the story is done. I'm sad and happy at the same time. I hope you enjoyed the story I have been writing for so long and come to like the characters... or dislike if they're evil. Anyway, it's been a pleasure. Bye!!!
