Take a Good Guess

Four

The last couple of days have been a blur. I couldn’t stop thinking about Emma, about she would sound all ‘I’m fine, Hannah, it’s okay’ every time we end our conversation on the phone. I knew she was far from okay. I guessed it was just me trying to be a good sister for her, but I thought about me leaving her alone in London while I was having a such a busy months here with the guys in the US made me feel like I was the worst sister in the world.

I was casually sitting in my hotel room in New York at night, checking my what-to-do list off my journal. I was seriously frustrated to the fact that I had to wait for the sponsors to send in their newest line for the guys to wear in the Today show, apparently Paul has just announced that One Direction would have an appearance there and also performing a couple of songs on the show. I literally groaned in frustration because of I just had a phone call from the clothing line that they wouldn't be able to send it the clothes until next week, which would only make my life harder considering that I had to make sure that the clothes were in a perfect condition before the guys could wear it. Doing that took about three days, now that I only had four days until the show; I really had no idea what to do.

Harry and Liam decided to take me to the movies to calm my self down, I know, maybe it wasn't a good idea to go to a such public place and everyone including the paparazzi and the fans could see us. Maybe you thought it was a suicide mission, believe me, I have been trying to tell those two selfish lads before they dragged me out of the hotel and pushed me into the car. I knew I had no chance in winning in an argument with them so I only sat in silence on our way to the movies while Harry and Liam had their own grins plastered on their faces.

We finally arrived at the movies. Even though it was almost midnight but the place was still packed with people trying to get their hands on movie tickets.

"This is crazy," I shook my head, as three of us walked out of the car

"Don't worry, Hannah, we got your back," Harry said, fixing his coat

"Yeah, consider this as your getaway," Liam added

"I would suggest to go to a bar," Harry muttered, "but since both of you have issues with alcohol, so—“

"Movies is always a better idea," Liam shot a glare towards Harry, who only pretended to be innocent as he flashed us a smile.

We bought the tickets after a short argument on what movie we were going to see. We ended up seeing a film called We Bought a Zoo only because Scarlett Johansson was in it. But it turned out that Liam and I were the only ones who actually watched the whole thing because Harry decided to sleep throughout the film.

I noticed there were a couple of people who were trying to get pictures of us, but as annoyingly these people might get, Harry and Liam didn't really look that kind of bothered with it. They kept throwing smiles and waves and a few 'hello's and hi's' every time someone recognized them as a member of the world's most famous boyband. I wondered to myself if they even get tired of all this.

"Who serves sushi with doughnuts?" Harry mumbled to himself as he scanned the menu in his hand. We were sitting inside a 24-hour diner now, even though I tried to convince them I was already tired, the two still forced me to eat at some random diner that we found across the road. I swore to myself that these two would be responsible if I turned into a zombie the next day. It was 2.30 am, and I wasn't even sleepy, let alone hungry.

I was scribbling something important about what I should do if the sponsors arrived on the diner's tissue that I found on the table, but then suddenly a hand snatched the tissue away from me.

"Hey!"

"Seriously, Hannah," Harry said, crumpling the tissue, “you need to lay off your duty for a bit.”

“It’s 2 in the morning, for God’s sake,” Liam chimed in “just, relax.”

“Relax? Relax? You two don’t understand! This is important—”

“Don’t tell me this is still about the sponsors?”

“As a matter of fact, it is.”

“Hannah, I can wear a sack for all I care,” He rolled his eyes, “sometimes I just don’t understand how easily you get so frustrated and stuff.”

“You guys don’t understand,” I shook my head, burying my head in Liam’s shoulder as I pretended to cry. He only leaned back so I could rest my head on his chest, he then put his hand around my shoulders and I heard him letting out a sigh.

“We gotta keep her mind off of it,” he said to Harry, “Harry.”

“What?”

“Come up with something to talk about.”

I caught the sight of Harry smirking, like he really knew what he was going to say. I felt my stomach turned as I sat up straight, letting go of Liam. I frowned at him. I was seriously going to kill Harry if he came up with some topic that was out of this world.

“Okay,” he said, glancing at me as he remained the smirk on his face. “How’s your love life, Hannah?”

I heard Liam snorted and looked at me, waiting for an answer, I shot a death glare at both at them. If looks could kill, I was truly positive these two would be six feet under.

“My love life is like a time machine,” I said, forcing my best sarcastic smile towards them.

Now I regretted that I didn’t bring my camera with me, or something that I could take picture with, I cursed silently when I remembered my phone was already dead. The looks that were plastered on their faces were priceless, I wasn’t sure if they get what I was trying to say, but all I know was the fans would sure love to see their idols having the most idiotic, confused faces that they’ve ever made.

“It doesn’t exist,” I rolled my eyes, followed by a laugh.

“I don’t get you,” Harry mumbled

Liam only remained silent and looked at me strangely, “what about that kid you met from the bookstore you used to work at?”

“Who? James?” I raised my eyebrows, “he’s gay.”

That seemed to shut Liam up, but the next thing I knew Harry was looking as pleased as an arse at his seat. He kept flashing his cheeky grin at us and got all excited with himself. Liam
and I only shared a quick look with each other, confused.

“Tell her, Liam,” Harry said

“Tell her what?”

I saw confusion from Harry’s eyes for a second there, “you know, that.”

“I really don’t know what you are talking about,” Liam said, looking as puzzled as ever.

“I thought Louis told you!” Harry shot up, “Louis, you arse.”

“He didn’t tell me anything,” Liam mumbled to himself, looking like he was trying to recall everything in his head.

“I told him to tell you yesterday,” Harry said, his face was glimpsing with annoyance, “He has this crazy idea about setting up Zayn with Hannah because—“

“You two do realize that I’m still here, right?” I decided to speak up, making both of them turning their attention towards me.

Harry fixed his eyes on me; the smile never left his lips, “What I am about to tell you is purely from the brain of the mastermind which is Louis Tomlinson, so if you have any objection or what not, you should contact Mr. Tomlinson himself.”

Liam and I stayed silent as we kept our eyes on Harry, who seemed to get the memo because he only nodded and went on, “He had this bizarre idea about setting you up with Zayn because, well, we all know the last couple of relationships that he had went all downhill and he obviously have issues in his taste of girls—“

“Says a guy who fancies old women,” I cut him off.

Liam choked back his laughter as he tried to sip his drink, we high-fived below the table silently so Harry wouldn’t be able to see it. But he clearly realized the amused expression that we both shared was enough to make him annoyed.

“Very funny,” he rolled his eyes dramatically. “I’m giving you a favor here, Hannah. Louis actually told me to not tell you this yet, but since I’m such a good friend I’m willing to share this to you.”

I only shrugged and let Harry went on, as he spoke about all that Louis’ idiotic idea, I tried my best to hold back the butterflies and the nausea that was awfully molesting my stomach at the very same time. I was terrified at that idea about setting me up with Zayn, these lads clearly had no idea how that one particular boy could do to me, having eye contact with him could already send me flipping out, let alone going on a date with him. But my mind went through when Zayn and I had that short lunch date a few days ago. When he asked that question that was still haunting me to this moment. I also remembered those times when he would steal a few seconds to ask me if I already got the answer, I still haven’t figured out what made him come up with that question though, that guy was just out of this world…

“If I have anything to say to you, Hannah. Just take things slow—“

“Who said I even agreed to this!” I exclaimed.

“I don’t agree, either,” Liam added.

We both turned our heads to Liam, who was now shaking his head. “I’ll admit Zayn has his fair share of bad relationships but I don’t think putting these two together is really a good idea,”
Liam said

“We aren’t really asking for your permission,” Harry narrowed his eyes.

“Don’t I have the right to say about this as well?” Liam raised his eyebrows.

“This isn’t really the time to play daddy directioner, Liam.” Harry sighed, “You’re such a killjoy, for Christ’s sake.”

“You lot are such idiots,” I groaned, rolling my eyes, “Can we just go back to the hotel? I’m awfully tired,” Which was a lie, of course, the boys didn’t know that I have been consuming this heaven-sent black, strong liquid called coffee since the day I joined the tour, you just couldn’t help but to force down some caffeine to your system if you have to babysit five ridiculously immature boys in your hands.

We arrived at the hotel fifteen minutes later and I excused myself from the two. They both gave me a goodnight hug and Harry took the opportunity to tousle my hair for one last time, I groaned and punched him lightly on the hand and laughed.

“Good night, you two.”

“Night, Hannah. Don’t dream about me,” Harry winked before closing his bedroom door.

--

Today went more brutally than I expected, I had a call from the sponsors that they weren’t going to send those clothes at all because of reasons that I thought was really stupid. I was really on the edge of losing my temper, Louis had to knock on my door to check if I was okay or not, maybe it was the constant groaning and banging of things.

“For God’s sake, chill, Adler,” Louis said after I explained everything. He was casually stirring his coffee as he leaned on the doorframe. His hair was still messy from his sleep. “It’s not like we don’t have anything to wear now.”

“Paul would kill me.”

“Paul wouldn’t give a rat’s arse about the clothes,” he laughed, finally closing the door behind him, “Besides, there’s always the mall.”

“What do you mean?” I managed to ask; I was too occupied in rubbing my temples from pounding too hard.

“The mall, Hannah,” Louis said, “Full of new clothes? You can always buy them.”

I looked at Louis questioningly for a second, but I quickly understood what he was trying to say, “You mean I should buy five new outfits from the mall?”

“Well yeah, you know, there’s always that,” he shrugged “I’ll help you with it, and the lads too.”

“You should probably ask to close down the mall first if all five of you want to come.” I chuckled, looking up at Louis, who was also staring down at me with a grin on his face.

“You have a point there,” he agreed, sipping his coffee, “but it will be fun! I get to go shopping with Hannah!”

Part of me wanted to punch and screamed at him from making up such crazy idea about setting me up with Zayn, but the other part was only filled with the feeling that you just couldn’t help but to love these boys. From all the times I’ve spent with them I would have never guessed that I would get attached this fast. I guessed it was just something about their charm, personality and idiocy that all five of them shared in common.

After a short argument about the trip to the mall, Louis successfully convinced me to go and dragged Niall into this, only because the other three were still passed out in their respective suites. My heart sank knowing that I couldn’t get a glimpse of Zayn this morning because we’ve decided to leave for the mall as earliest as possible before it got too crowded. I just loved the way that he would give me morning hug attacks from behind that almost made my heart jumped out. I smiled, no, I grinned at the thought, now I was relieved that I was alone and no one had to see me making an arse of myself.

I quickly took a shower and threw myself some clean clothes, slipped on the boots that Louis just bought me and knocked on Louis and Niall’s room, it was opened by a shirtless Niall, who barely looked like he was ready to go shopping considering that he only had his jeans and the hotel slippers. I saw Louis behind him, waving at me.

We waited Niall for exactly ten minutes to get ready, constantly shouting at him to hurry up. We successfully dragged Niall, fully clothed, out of the room and pushed him into the car. We decided not to tell Paul about this, or he would kill us, or even worse, fire me for sneaking out on him, and we all knew that this wasn’t the first time I did it.

We arrived at exactly 11 AM and thanked God that the place wasn’t entirely packed. There were a few second glances from various people but none of them has been asking for a picture, maybe because of the outfits that Niall and Louis were wearing. The oversized beanie that Niall wore, you could barely see his face, I was positive that you wouldn’t suspect that it was, in fact, Niall Horan wearing it. And Louis, I had to hold back a laugh every time I landed my eyes on him, wearing his plaid baggy pants matched with his signature striped shirt and a red sweatshirt worn over it, maybe for his stylist I had to fight back the urge to fix his fashion sense.

Louis and Niall pushed me inside Topman and basically argued the whole time we picked an outfit, but I was a bit thankful that Zayn didn’t come with us, because truthfully that guy would take at least a day to find his perfect little outfit compared to the other four boys.

I mindlessly tossed around some pieces of clothing and Louis and Niall would literally shout ‘yes!’ or ‘no!’ at a particular object I showed to them. We finally came up with two different outfits for each boy and two pairs of shoes. It felt like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing that my work was done, at least for this week, thanks to Louis and Niall here.

We are now cornered in Starbucks, occupying ourselves with sandwiches because we didn’t have the chance to get some breakfast at the hotel. I was sure it was also because Louis and I couldn’t stand Niall’s complain anymore, we finally took him here, and bought Niall two sandwiches.

“I have an idea!” Louis shot up, shifting at his seat, which annoyed Niall a little bit, “Let’s play 20 questions!”

I shot a puzzled look towards Niall but he only rolled his eyes and continued eating. These boys really had their own idea of coming up with the most random topic to talk about. I wasn’t sure that I was able to understand their way of thinking.

“Louis, please—“

“Why don’t you go first, Hannah?”

“Louis—“

“What’s your favorite color?”

“Um,” I hesitated. For God’s sake, just let him be happy. “Purple.”

“Favorite movie?”

“The Corpse Bride.”

“That’s an animation.”

“Harry Potter!” I cried out.

“Your celebrity crush?”

“Johnny Depp.”

“Do you like strawberries?”

“Yes,” I snorted, “Are you kidding me?”

“Do you like hiking?”

“Yes.”

“Why? Do you like nature?”

“Yup.”

“Love animals?”

“I very much do.”

“You like eating chocolate?”

“Obviously.”

“Do you like cheese?”

“Yes.”

“Do you like to wear converse?”

“Love it.”

“Do you like Zayn Malik?”

“Ye—What?!”

Niall suddenly burst in laughter while Louis had the widest ear-to-ear grin plastered on his face. I could feel my face was getting warmer every second as both of them still locked their eyes on me. I imagined myself having a time machine so I could rewind whatever happened moments ago.

“Zayn and Hannah sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s—“

“Louis, you little shit!” I groaned, burying my face in my hands. I didn’t know if I could survive the humiliation or not. I swore to myself that I would kill Louis back at the hotel along with Harry.

“Don’t worry, Hannah.” I felt a tap on my shoulder, “we got you covered.”

“Do you think I don’t know about your little plan you have with Harry?” I glared at him.

“Harry told you?” Louis asked, his eyes flashing with surprise, “That little—“

“I’m gonna kill you, Tomlinson! Both of you.”

“No, you’ll thank us soon,” Louis winked, laughing, “You’ll see.”

I felt my face flushed with embarrassment, now all four of the boys already knew the plan. I was quite positive that it wouldn’t take long until Zayn himself realize it.

I am so dead.
