Ronnie was completely amazed by Emily. As he, Max and Emily walked around the open area of Warped Tour after Escape The Fate's set, Ronnie couldn't help but notice the looks she got from guys that she seemed completely oblivious to.

She was different from other girls Ronnie knew. Other girls obsessed over how they looked, talked about make-up, clothes and boys, listened to boybands and constantly wanted attention. Emily didn't obsess over her looks. Emily didn't talk about make-up, clothes and boys. Emily didn't listen to boybands. Emily didn't constantly want attention.

Emily was confusing. When Ronnie thought he had her figured out, something would make him realise he hadn't and his mind became jumbled again. Ronnie wanted to see into her mind, to know what she was thinking. She was quiet. She was intelligent. She was happy and cheerful yet dark and mysterious. Something told Ronnie there was a whole other side of her. Something told Ronnie that there were things about her that he didn't know, things he couldn't comprehend.

“Do you want to meet my band?”

Ronnie snapped out of his trance and focused on Emily. She had one eyebrow raised and her bright blue eyes pierced Ronnie.

“Hell yeah!” Max said, punching his fist into the air. He looked at Ronnie, waiting for him to say something. When he didn't, Max added, “Ronnie does, too.”

“Great!” Emily said, clapping her hands together. “Our set is in twenty minutes. Come on, the stage's this way.”

Max and Ronnie started following her to the stage. Ronnie lost himself in thought again, this time wondering what her bandmates were like and what they would think of Escape The Fate.

My band, along with William and Adam Siska, or Sisky, were waiting backstage. They looked up as we approached, and their gazes fell on Ronnie and Max. I was suddenly nervous.

“This is Ronnie and Max,” I said, indicating towards them. “From Escape The Fate.” I pointed everyone out in turn as I said, “That's Adam, Parker, Skylar, Will, Sisky and William.”

The guys all grinned and greeted them, but I couldn't help but notice Adam hesitate before greeting them. I kept my eyes narrowed and on him until one of the crew members told us we were on in five minutes. We huddled in a circle, reciting our little ritual, before storming the stage.

Ronnie watched her on the stage, smiling every time she looked in his direction. Max seemed surprised, his eyes wide, mouth slightly open. Max shuffled closer to Ronnie.

“Dude, they're freaking awesome!” Max whispered loudly and Ronnie fought the urge to say, “I know she is.”

William and Sisky joined them, peering out past the stage at the crowd.

“It is pretty big, dude,” Sisky said, his eyes scanning the crowd.

“What is?” Max asked.

William looked at him and laughed. “The crowd.” When Ronnie and Max exchanged confused glances, he said, “Chiodos's set is on now, too.”

“They're friends of ours,” Sisky started to explain. “The other guys in our band went to see them play. We want to see who's got the bigger crowd.”

“Start counting!” William said loudly and Sisky laughed.

“Just take a picture or something,” Sisky said. William's eyes suddenly went wide, like he had an idea, and he pulled his iPhone out of his pocket, dialing a number. He held the phone to his ear.

“Dude!” He said loudly, “Record it!”

Sisky narrowed his eyes as William listened to something the person on the other end was saying.

“For TAITV!” William said suddenly and then listened to something else. “You don't need to get the video camera, use your phone... Now!” He hung up and then stepped closer to the stage, but not close enough for anyone in the crowd to see him. He help up his phone, using the camera to record the scene.

“Explain?” Max said and Sisky laughed, shaking his head.

“Our internet show,” Sisky said, watching William as he said something for the camera. “We basically record anything and then post it on our MySpace for the fans to see.” He reached out and grabbed William's collar when he nearly stepped out onto the stage, pulling him back. William let out a sound of annoyance.

“Sweet,” Max said, nodding.

“This is Ronnie and Max from Escape The Fate!” William said, returning, facing the camera at them. “Want to say anything to the camera, guys?”

“Watch TAITV every day!” Max said, pointing at the camera.

“All day!” Ronnie added.

“Just keep playing it over and over and over,” Max said. “And never stop watching it!”

William turned the camera back to himself and said, “You heard them. Get to it.”

After our set, William and Sisky invited us all back to their bus. We all went back to the bus and just hung out, talking, eating, playing video games.

“Where are the Chiodos guys and the rest of your band?” Will asked as he played Left4Dead with William, the rest of us watching them play.

William answered him. “Probably on their way back.”

“Chiodos's set was on at the same time as yours,” Sisky explained. “But we're awesome so we decided to watch your set instead.”

“Or you wanted to see who had the bigger crowd...” Max said subtly.

“Hey!” Sisky said. “We would never.”

“They're going to see it on TAITV anyways,” Ronnie said, turning his attention away from the game. “I'm going to get something to eat. From your fridge.”

“Me too,” I said, jumping down from the back of the couch I was sitting on. “I'm hungry.”

We both left the back lounge and went through the bunk area towards the front lounge. Ronnie opened the fridge and started looking through it.

“What do you want to eat?” Ronnie asked, taking things out of the fridge.

I glanced at the fridge. “I'll just have fruit,” I said, grabbing the fruit bowl that I assumed no one ate from since it was always full. I chose an apple.

“You sure you don't want one of my amazing sandwiches?” Ronnie said, one eyebrow raised.

I laughed, looking at the ingrediants lined up on the counter. I shook my head. “No thanks. I don't eat meat. I'm a vegetarian.”

Ronnie raised both eyebrows this time. “Really?”

I nodded, smiling. I sat up on the table, legs folded under me. Ronnie finished making his “amazing” sandwich and sat down on the bench across from me.

After a few moments of silence, Ronnie said, “You're still having trouble sleeping?” He probably meant it as a question, but it sounded like a statement.

I shrugged, concentrating on my apple, noticing how red it was.

“You've been yawning like crazy,” Ronnie noted. I frowned. I hadn't realised.

“I'm tired,” I said, biting into my apple.

Ronnie nodded. “You know you can come over any time, right?”

“No,” I said, shaking my head. “I'll wake you up.”

“What do you do when you wake up early?” Ronnie asked. “While you're waiting for everyone else to wake up?”

I thought about what I did that morning. Nothing. I thought about lying but what could I say? “Nothing,” I answered honestly.

Ronnie smiled. “Really, come over any time. I won't mind. Besides, it's better than doing nothing, right?”

I smiled as I bit into my apple.

The door leading outside suddenly flew open and in came the rest of The Acadamy Is... and Chiodos.

“Where's William?” Michael asked. As if on cue, William and Sisky appeared in the doorway leading to the bunk area. William took his iPhone out of his pocket and Michael took his phone out of his pocket. They looked at both screens and they both grinned.

“It looks like Broken Colours has the bigger crowd!” William said and the Chiodos guys sighed in defeat.

“Sweet!” I said, standing up and throwing the apple core into the bin.

They all started going back to the back lounge and William turned and said, “We need to ask you something, Emily!”

“Oh no,” I said and followed them, looking back at Ronnie. “You coming?”

“I'll be there in a minute,” Ronnie said, standing up.

I nodded and turned around, going back through the bunk area. When I reached the back lounge, Adam passed me, going back the way I came.

Ronnie leaned against the side of the bus, cigarette in hand. He jumped when the door leading into the bus opened, bright light flooding the ground in front of him. He was surprised when Adam from Broken Colours stepped out of the bus, closing the door after him.

“Hey dude,” Ronnie said warily.

“Have another?” Adam asked, nodding at his hand. Ronnie blinked, then looked down at his hand and realised he was talking about the cigarette. Ronnie took the packet of cigarettes out of his pocket and a lighter and handed them to Adam.

“You smoke?” Ronnie asked.

Adam shrugged. “Not really.”

Ronnie raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything. They smoked in silence for a while.

Adam opened his mouth to say something but hesitated. He tried again. “How long have you known Emily?”

Ronnie looked at him. “Not long,” he concluded.

Adam nodded and didn't speak for another while. Then he sighed and said, “Look, I don't want to sound like an ass or anything. I really don't have a problem with you...”

Ronnie looked at him, slightly alarmed, wondering what was coming next.

Adam sighed again. “I just don't want to see Emily get hurt.”

Ronnie was slightly confused and waited for Adam to go on.

“She's been through a lot,” Adam said, then hesitated. “She didn't have a proper childhood.”

“What do you mean?” Ronnie asked, standing up straighter.

Adam frowned. “Let's put it this way. She wasn't exactly allowed a childhood.”

Ronnie raised his eyebrows. He was extremely confused.

Adam looked at him and then looked away. “Her past isn't something I think we should discuss.”

Ronnie nodded slowly and wondered if he should ask what he was thinking. “Does it have something to do with her mom dying?”

Adam looked at him, eyebrows raised, eyes wide. Now it was his turn to be alarmed. He was quiet for a moment before he said, “Maybe. But there's a lot more to it than that.”

Ronnie was even more confused and he didn't think that was possible.

“Just know that she's been through a lot...” Adam paused. “I don't want to see her get hurt anymore.”

Ronnie nodded slowly. He knew Adam wasn't trying to be a jerk, he was just looking out for his friend. “I understand.”

Adam nodded and threw the cigarette on the ground, putting it out under his foot. He walked over to the door and opened it. He looked back at Ronnie before stepping inside and closing the door. Ronnie stayed outside, trying to sort out the confused thoughts in his head.
