Trav'ling Lady

She used to wear her hair like you.

Inez pulled on her clothes with haste, casting small smiles in his direction in attempt to wipe the blank stare that always embraced his face as their nights ended, but to no avail. He seemed almost lifeless, green eyes glazed over and completely unresponsive. A sigh slipped through her lips as she turned and looked him in the eyes.

"I'm leaving, George."

The gaze never broke his face, no acknowledgment was given except for a small blink. She shook her head and kissed his forehead. Her final goodbye, just three words. He never loved her, never. He was looking for the past love, the one he had lost, in the wrong person. He was just looking for another refugee running from these times. Someone with the same curl in her hair and the charm that his past love had that captured his eyes. In short, he used her.

Inez had walked into his life in a burst of spontaneity, and walked out just the same, nothing but a simple traveler on her path.
