Cassie and Tyler were our school's ideal couple. She was small and curvy, with wavy dark brown hair and dimples in her cheeks. He was tall and muscular, with shaggy blonde hair and a surfer boy tan. They were the cutest couple in the junior class. But then Ty noticed Minnie Lee, a tall skinny girl with straight black hair, big blue eyes, and flawless tan skin. Ty got caught making out with Minnie at a party. He told Cassie that she was stupid, ugly, and fat (all untrue) and dumped her. Cassie hasn't been herself since.

"Laura, will you pass the mashed potatoes?" my mom says. I jump out of my reverie and pass the potatoes.

"Is everything okay?" my dad asks. I nod and take a bite of steak.

"Yeah," I reply after I swallow. "Everything's fine."
