We Are The Kids From Yesterday

Well now this could be the last of all the rides we take

The world as I know it seems to be dieing. Disasters are everywhere. We can't seem to escape. Country's war torn, preparing for extreme natural disasters, in bankruptcy or just dead as bones. North America is one of the regions to alive. I don't know how long it will last though. The government was overthrown by a pill company known as Better Living Industries, or BLI. Their buildings are everywhere, their medication is in everyone... We're their zombies. The ones that resist are arrested or executed on the spot if resisted arrest. Rebels roam the deserted towns and deserts. I am one of them. I am a killjoy. This is not a story of politics or war, this is a story of love, rebellion and a family. Welcome to the True Lives Of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Chicago is one of the few cities that hasn't been touched by disaster. Not including BLI, no one can get away from their grip. My boyfriend went to New York after we graduated 7 years ago. He got a job as a cover artist for a small time underground record company. 6 months after he settled in their a tsunami, an effect from the 9.8 earthquake in Brazil, hit the entire east coast. The phone lines went down and I hadn't heard from him till a S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W/ came to my door and told he had died of hypothermia in a survivor camp in Lower Manhattan. I was devastated, fell into the arms of BLI's evil ways became their zombie their pawn. One night though, on the news, a riot hit Battery City, formally Los Angeles California, a group of a rebel group known as the Killjoys attacked the main BLI building. I saw the bright sky blue hair pale toned arms and the copper eyes, Jake. It was really Jake I swear to God I was not hallucinating. I am not their not their zombie anymore.

A soft knock hit the door. I had no one coming over it was strange. When I opened the door, there stood a small but taller than me man in the door way his bright fire red hair matted on his head stuck to his dirty face. His chest was heaving up and down, his eyes where wide as if he had just been chased. Had he been chased he didn't look like an ordinary citizen of this distopia.
"Your boyfriend Jake is looking for you," He panted," Hurry we've been chased all day."
Life is now officially worth living.
