Here Goes Nothing

Bus talks

"So that's it? One comment about the Backstreet Boys and I get the cold shoulders? That's complete bullshit." Wesley spat in a joking manner as we were still rolling towards our first hotel. We'd been talking about insignificant things for the past hour. At one point, the conversation took a turn to our latest musical taste. And although I truly enjoy multiple genres of music, I've always had a thing for the backstreet boys. They started back in 93, and since I was born the same year, I've always considered them to be my gift from life. Is it crazy? Well that's debattable even though it's a strong possibility. But do I care? I'd have to say no. And when Wesley made a tasteless joke about the Backstreet Boys and their possible sexual orientation, I did what any decent and mature girl would do. I gasped before furrowing my brows together and crossed my arms, and then I proceeded to look out the window.

"You know it was a joke, right?" He asked me, suddenly unsure of himself. I looked at him...well, glared would be more appropriate.

"I think I have the right to be offended at your poor attempt that you call JOKING. First of all, the Backstreet Boys are all married or in a serious relationship with women-"

"Brokeback mountain proved everyone that this means nothing." He muttered but I ignored him.

"And second of all, the way you labelled them for a punch line was very offensif to the homosexual community. I mean, what if I was a lesbian?" I asked and then I looked at him expectantly. He looked at me before shrugging.

"Well are you? A lesbian I mean?" He asked and I looked at him, kind of shocked.

"No!" I exclaimed.

"Ok, then what's the big deal?" He asked me. I groaned softly and rolled my eyes.

"Just let it go. You don't get it." I shook my head but I wasn't that upset.

"Ok, ok. I'm sorry, you're right!" he admitted as he threw his hands up defensively and I smiled before rolling my eyes and shaking my head. I could tell he didn't care about what I said, he just didn't want to argue. But I kind of liked that he was so laid-back. No! Maddi, I couldn't think like that...because Maddi loved him.

"So tell me, are you always so uptight?" He asked me with a smirk.

"Excuse me?" I asked, making sure I heard correctly.

"That stick shoved up your ass...is it removable somehow or is it permanent?" He asked me in a serious voice. I smacked him on the arm but couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I finally said. We both chuckled.

"I might be a little...high maintenance I suppose. But it doesn't mean I don't know how to have fun!" I argued with a smile.

"Really now." He said skeptically.

"Well I'm on the jackass tour aren't I?" I asked to prove my point. He shrugged.

"I guess you have a point." He replied. We didn't talk much after that, both too much engulfed in the cast's antics in the front of the bus. They tried to keep it PG seeing as Ruby and Roan were here and both very young, but it IS the jackass crew after all. And as I looked at Steve-O pee in a bottle that he would undoubtedly drink after, I couldn't help but think about how so much had already happened in so little time.
