Running Circles

“YOU WILL BE EXTEEERRMINATED!” my phone screamed at me. I was standing in my bed in a record of time. “Hello?” I said sleepy. “Hey Lee.” I heared the familiar voice from the other side of the phone. “Hey Josh.” I said feeling a warmth rose in my body. “Told you I would call you and there you go.” He chuckeled. “I didn’t thought that you would call THAT early.” I said. “I actually called to ask if you would mind to open the door. I rung the bell like five times and yea.” He said quietly. “I’m sorry.” I said quickly and slid on my slippers and sprinted towards the door and down the stairs.
“You still don’t have a door opener?” Josh asked laughing when I opened him the door, breathing heavily. “Nope.” I said with a smile and took one of the bags he was carrying “What’s in there?” I asked. Josh knew I was a really courious person and always asked about stuff. “Stuff.” He simply said. “Oh you.” I answered and opened the door to the flat. “Looks exactly the same as when I was here the last time.” Josh said when we entered the flat. “You know I don’t like changes.” I said andplaced the bag on the kitchen counter. Josh was right, I never changhed a thing here, afraid I would loose the memories that were connected with the things in here. “I know.” He answered “Through a friend of mine, that’s dating a friend of yours I know that they’re all working today and that it’s your free day today.” “So Max and Harlow are dating…” I said. Josh nodded with a wide smile on his lips “I called him on my way home.” “I knew it.” I said and banged my fist on the table “She wouldn’t tell anyone who he was and now I know why.” “Same reason I had to not make us public.” Josh said quietly. I nodded softly and lifted my hand towards the beg to take a look inside. “NO!” he himed in and sprinted towards me and the bag “You go shower and dress up and I’ll take care of this.” He said and shoved me away. I decided to trust him and trotted away into the bathroom. I picked up some clothes from my bedroom and went to shower.
The smell of fresh breakfast greeted me when I left the bathroom. I quickly changed into my fresh clothes and walked down the stairs. Josh was quietly singing a song and carrying stuff to the kitchen table. “Oh hey.” He said when he noticed me standing there “I thought that it would be nice to make you some breakfast.” I smiled lightly and sat down on the table.
“Am I the only one thinking that this is a little weird?” he asked mid-breakfast. “Indeed it is…at least a little.” I answered and took a sip from the cup that was in front of me. Josh had bought my favourite Twinnings Breakfast tea. “I mean…we used to have breakfast together almost everyday back then…” he trailed off “I miss it and I’m not ashamed to say it.” I pulled my legs up on the chair and smiled at him “It’s really quiet here to be honest.” “And probably ten times less sexier.” He said with a laugh. I had miss this ‘I am the best thing you will ever have’ attitude of his. “Of course.” I sighed “You’re the only good looking thing in here.” I smiled. “It’s not that you aren’t good looking as well.” He grinned. I shook my head and we continued to eat in silence. It was almost like when we were together, which was almost 1 ½ years ago.
I know Josh, Max, Matt, Dan and Chris since I’m 15 and so do the other girls. I had been friends with Dan since I was two years old and he introduced me and Josh one day. It was as if from the first moment, there was something between us that drew us together. We became friends and soon more. All our friends said that we would stay forever, but we started to fight more and there happned things that weren’t as pretty as they should have been. There were lies and even more fights and it all ended in huge disaster in which Josh told me that he had slept with some girl and I slapped him and he slapped me in affect. I left him standing in his rents living room without another word. A day went by and he sent Dan and Max to pick up his bits from my place. It had been the hardest time of my life. I had not only lost my first big love, but also my best friends. They reminded me of Josh. And now I was sitting in front of him on the breakfast table, like a year ago. We were still the same. The same weird kiddos. The only thing that had changed was that I knew what I wanted. I had figured out what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I realized that I didn’t want to sit behind this counter anymore. I realized that I wanted to go and see the world and caputre it to a film. It had been the perfect plan, but now I had to put another variable into the formula. Josh. The question of the hour was do I want to do it with him or not.
“LEE!” he yelled then. My head shot up “Huh?” “You drifted off.” “Oh…as usual…sorry I was thinking.” “As usual.” Josh smiled at me “I was wondering if…if you might want to go on another date with me.” he asked with a quiet little voice. “I would want to.” I answered. “Good. I…got you something for that…it’s a special event, but I’ll tell you later, I think we should clean up now, shouldn’t we?” with that we got up and started to clean up the kitchen. I tossed Josh a kitchen towel and we dried of the last things.
“I hope that you don’t mind that I bought you something for tonight.” Josh said as we setteled down on the sofa we had spend so many night on together. I shook my head “Remember I once told you to not buy me stuff.” “I know, but this is different.” I sighed “And you’re still not telling me where we are going?” I asked. Josh shook his head and said “I won’t and I’ll go now, before I’ll acidentally give you a hint.” Then he got up and gave me a light kiss on the cheek “If I was you I would stay home over the say, who knows what may happen.” He closed the door behind him and then he was gone again. I threw myself back on the sofa and smiled. Then I was laughing. I picked up my phone and dialled Harlows number. “Hello?” someone on the other side said, but it wasn’t Harlow. “MAX!” I laughed. “Lee.” I heard him laughed “How have you been?” he asked. “Well I was just having breakfast with some guy named Joshua and I wanted to call my friend Harlow to talk to her about it and some old friend of mine picked up. “I know…” he said, I knew he was smiling because his voice sounded a little different “I’ll give you Harlow.” “Thanks.” I answered and waited for my friend. “Seems like she’s not in…” and then we were interrupted by someone talking “LEE!” “Harlow!” I screamed and pulled her into a hug. “I’ve missed you, love.” She smiled at me. “I’ve missed you too.” I smiled back at her. “Someone send me here to prep you up a little bit. And no I don’t know where you are going to.” She said then and smiled. “Before you do anything you have to explain me why you didn’t tell me about you and Max.” I said and pulled my friend towards the sofa. “I didn’t tell you, because I didn’t know if we could make it work. Same as you and Joshy back then.” Harlow answered. I nodded quietly. the fact that she called him Joshy made me smiled. “You still love the boy, don’t you?”she asked after some minutes of silence. “I do…but I don’t know if I will ever trust him again as much as I used to.” I answered and pulled my legs up to my chest. “Babe, let him try and give him a chance, he’s just a little boy that wants to win a girls heart again.” She said with a boyish grin. “I don’t know if I can.” I said and sighed. “I know you can and I know…that you love him.” She said then “And now let’s get you ready. Joshua’s given me a present for you.” she said and handed me a box. I opened the ribbon and lifted the lid off it. Inside the box was a light rose lacey skater dress, a pair of Steve Madden heels and a Chanel bag. My eyes widened “He must be crazy.” “He is, but not completley.” Harlow smiled at me and pulled me off the sofa. We made our way towards my bedroom. Harlow send me off to get a shower and get rid off my make up. To be honest I was quite nervous and anoixous to know what he was planning. I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, before Harlow stormed into the bathroom with her styling stuff. She did my hair and make up and then I got into my dress.
