Running Circles

Four

I didn’t call Josh for another two days, just because I didn’t want to get too close to him all too soon.
It was Thursday.
Avery and I were sitting behind the counter waiting for Tom to arrive. He had book a studio to do a shoot with ‘Hey Scientists’ the band of an old shool friend of ours.
It was around twelve when Austin, Tim, Chris and Luke arrived, no sight of Audrey. “Maverick Jolee Clarks.” Austin said with a bright smile “And Avery Grace Le Feuvre.” He pulled us into his arms. The rest of them followed his actions.
Some mintues later a sightly hungover Audrey stumbled into the studio holding on to the shoulder of a just as well hungover Matt Barnes, followed by his brother.
“Best is always coming at last.” She said and lifted her shades lightly before hugging everyone.
The band and Tom left to do their shoot and Matt sat down on the sofa. “Coffee?” I asked with a light smile. Matt nodded and buried his face in his hands. I quickly made him a cup and handed it to him. “Seems like you got pretty pissed last night, huh?” Avery asked and looked up from her magazine.
“You could say so.” He sighed “Hey you don’t have some painkillers by any chance?” Avery reached into her bag and tossed him the pack.
“Thanks, gal.” he mumbled and then he said something I didn’t expect “Josh’s missing you, Lee.”
My head shot up “Is he?” I asked.
“He is. He’s worrying his ass off about if he’d done something wrong on your ‘date’.”
And that was when some guy with flowers walked in “Maverick Jolee Clarks?” he asked. I lifted my hand “Here.”
He walked over to me and handed me the flowers “You’re lucky.” He smiled and left again. There was a little card in the bonquet:
‘Sorry if I have done something wrong or hurt you in a way. I’ll see you at three at mine, dress casual. X Josh’
I sighed It was around half past two, Joshs place was not far away from here so not big deal. ‘Hey Scientist’ finshed their shoot and Audrey, Avery and I went on a coffee since there wasn’t much going on today in the studio.
“So what did I hear from Matt, Joshys taking you out again.” Audery said and took a sip from her coffee. “We were out on two dates. That’s it.” I started.
“He’s trying to get her back.” Avery chimed in. Audreys jaw dropped “After all that…he’s actually trying to get you back? What do you want to do? I mean…do you give him a chance?” she asked.
"Seeing him today.” I said and checked my watch. It was two twenty.
“Means that you give him a chance, right.”
“Audrey I love this boy, you know that.” I said quietly.
“Anyway, you and Barnes, what is that about?” Avery asked then, changing the topic.
“Well…actually we are dating since some…weeks.” She said with a little smile.
“Knew it.” Avery piped and I couldn’t help but laugh, because we all knew that it was going to happen some time.
“Speaking of that I think it’s time for you to get your butt to Josh’s.” Avery said with a look on her phones watch.
“Okay gals.” I said with a smile.
“Good luck, babe.” Avery smiled.
“Fingers crossed, slut.” Audrey said and lifted her right hand.
I walked quickly and reached Joshs places within some mintues.
I breathed in heavily.
I was quite nervous to be honest.
I hadn’t talked much to his rents ever since I ran out of their living room that day.
I finally lifted my hand to the door and knocked.
“Lee!” I heard Elissa say before she wrapped me into her arms “It’s nice to see you here again.” She smiled when she let go of me.
“It’s nice to be here again.” I smiled in reply.
“I think Josh is already wating for you.” she smiled and pushed past me out of the door. “Lee?” I heard Josh ask.
“Living room?” I asked.
“Yes.” I followed his voice to the still familiar room.
Josh had piled up some pillows and covers in front of the TV.
“You look great.” He said with a shy smile.
“Thank you…looking fancy yourself sir.” I smiled back at him.
“Good to see you, love.” He smiled and warped me into a hug. I warped my arms around his torso and rested my head on his shoulder.
“Did I do something wrong on Monday?” he asked and made me look into his eyes. “Josh..no…it was me…and my stupid head.” I sighed. Josh smiled lightly “Good...I thought that I had done something stupid…except kissing you.” he answered and laced our fingers togther to lead me to the mass of pillows in front of the TV. We sat down and he started the movie.
“I know you like X-Men so.” He said with a cute little grin. Josh put his arm around me and I rested my head on his shoulder. It felt good to sit there with him. Good in a weird way. My eyes started to feel really heavy. I started to feel a bit tiered. I snuggled into his shoulder and let myself drift off.
I was woken up by Josh trying to put my sleeping body onto the sofa. “See who’s alive.” He said with a grin. “Didn’t sleep much last night.” I answered still sleepy. “That’s what they all say.” He smiled and set me down “You hungry?” he asked. I nodded “Food would be quite nice.” Josh smiled and took my hand into his and pulled me into the kitchen. “Pasta?” he asked. I nodded my head “Sounds nice.” Josh smiled at me. Back when we were still together we used to make dinner together everytime I was here, which was often. Everything was still where it used to be so it was pretty easy for me to help him. I picked some tomatoes and cut them into pieces. I felt Josh standing behind me. “Feels like back then, huh.” I said quietly. He nodded “Indeed. Makes me miss you more.” I smiled sadly. I knew I loved him, but I couldn’t do this to myself and take him back right away. We finished preparing dinner and sat down on the kitchen table.
We talked about the most random things that came into our minds while eating and I really enjoyed his presence and the way his laughter that filled the room when I told him how some guy tried to hook up with me and I almost threw up on him.
“I always told you that you shouldn’t get that wasted.” He said with a grin.
“I wasn’t as terribly wasted as Max sometimes gets.” I said with a pout.
“You’re wasted as soon as you SMELL alcohol.” Josh laughed in reply.
I crossed my arms in front of my chest “Hey you know that this isn’t true. I can have a few drinks.”
“If few means two you’re right.” He grinned from the other side of the table.
I sighed “Okay let’s leave that.”
“I know you hate me being right.” He grined.
Somehow this was pissing me off a little. Josh looked away for a second and tossed some of my spagetti into his face.
“HEY!” he screamed “What was that for?”
“I dunno.” I shrugged and grinned at him. Josh shook his head and for a second I thought he had gotten over it, but I should have known better.
Josh threw some of his at me. “EHW.” It came from my mouth.
“You wanted it this way.” I jumped off my seat and tackled him off his own one. Somehow we managed to get into a food fight and ended up looking as if a bomb had exploded in the kitchen.
Josh and I were sitting on the floor full of food and completely exhausted, but still comfortable.
Josh ran his hand through my hair “Do you know that you’re pretty, even with food all over you.” he said quietly.
I let my head fall onto his shoulder “I don’t.”
Josh chuckled quietly “You do, don’t deny it.” We remained sitting there on the floor, not talking not moving.
Minutes passed by until Josh spoke “Lee…can…can I kiss you?” he asked quietly. I couldn’t answer. He placed his hand on my cheek and pulled me closer to him. He hasitated for a second, before he placed his lips on mine. I wasn’t quiet sure what to do at first, but then I kissed him back, moving my lips against his as if I had never done anything else. His placed this other hand on my arm, before he laid us back on the floor, him on top of me resting on his hands.. He pulled away for a second to brush the hair away from my face.
“WHAT IN THE HELLS NAME HAPPENED HERE?!” A voice, which I recognized as Joshs mothers, came from the doorway. “Fuck.” Josh hissed and helped me up from the floor “Sorry ma…kinda got this out of control.” He said and looked to his feet. “You’re cleaning this up.” She said with a light chuckle “And then you two clean yourselfs up.” Then she walked away. I lookedat Josh and he looked back at me. I started to grin and then we brust into laughter. We started to clean up the mess we had made right after we had calmed down a little. It took us a little over thirty minutes since neither one of us could stay serious in this. I went to shower first. Josh had offered to let me stay in the guest room so he could put my clothes into the washing machine. I knew I couldn’t say no, so I just didn’t say anything at all. I still knew where everything was so I went to the bathroom and picked up a towel before I went to shower.
By the time I was stepping out of the shower it was around eight. I could hear people arguing downstairs.
“Joshua…”
“Ma don’t tell me what to do and what not.”
“I’m just saying that you should think about it again.”
“I know what I’m doing.”
“I don’t doubt that.”
“Sounds as if.”
“Don’t say that. I know how happy she made you, I’m just saying that you should listen to what she told her and give her the time she needs.”
“It’s been so long and you know how much I missed her.”
“Do what you think is right…I can’t stop you anyways.”
I didn’t want to listen to their conversation anymore, thinking that it was pretty rude to listen without them knowing that I was there. I sneaked into the guest room and planted myself onto the bed. I was tired by now. The food fight had gotten the best of me. I fell asleep soon after I had texted Avery that I wouldn’t be home tonight.
