Sequel: Ellen's New Life

The Rockstar's Daughter

Ellen Patricia Way Jones

How is it to have a father who's a rockstar? I think it's worse than you all believe.

Let me introduce myself first. I'm Ellen Patricia Way Jones. It's a horrible long name. But there's nothing I can do about. I can't do anything about anything.

That's the biggest problem in my life. What can a 12-year-old girl do about her life?

If I could do anything to make it better, trust me, I would.

Anyway. I live with my mother, Helena Jones. I rarely see my father, Gerard Way. He's a famous singer, and most I know about him comes from magazines and websites.

My mother told me that the song Helena, which is preformed by dad's band, My Chemical Romance, was written for her. Dad wrote it a few years ago.

Mom and dad met when they were 16 and 17. Fell in love. And that's when mom got pregnant.

Now you guess the rest.

Well, in my whole 12 years of life, I've seen my dad live about 15 times. He comes to check on me about once a year, maybe twice, if I'm lucky.

I've got his telephone number, but he rarely calls me. And I don't have much money to call him a lot, neither.

Me and my mother are having big financial problems. Yes, my dad does pay for me, but still. Because she had me so young, my mother couldn't continue schooling so she has no education. And no education, no good jobs.

See? Life as a daughter of a famous rockstar ain't that good.

But it will get better. I promised that to myself. I will find a way to make it better.

Soon.
