The Eight Swords of Malecerdin

Chapter One

The morning was absolutely gorgeous, the sun was peaking over and through the trees,

throwing patches across the yard. Since it was morning, it was causing the sky to be a

golden-orange color. The dew was still hanging about, making the atmosphere feel humid.

Amie took a deep breath of the fresh air while standing on her porch. There was a slight

breeze, causing her skirt to flutter around her thighs and the ends of her brown hair to

dance about her.

It was the beginning of August, the hottest month of the year in Florida, or anywhere

else

in the U.S. for that matter she was sure, and there was a breeze. A smile played about her

lips.

What a perfect way to start freshman year.

It was her first day as a freshman student. She still didn't quite believe it though, due to

the fact that she could't remember most of her childhood and feels as though she missed it.

Clutching her bag, she continued down the steps and made her way down to the bus stop. She

subconsciously pushed her glasses up her nose, which she had to wear, because her light brown

eyes did not have 20/20 vision. She was fantasizing about what was in store for this coming

school year.

"Yo Amie! Wait up!" Amie turned around and smiled as she recognized who it was.

Angelynna came running up to her, in her usual attire.

"Hey. I still don't understand how you're able to run in those dresses of yours" teased Amie.

Angelynna had on a navy blue spaghetti strap dress flowing down to her ankles with lace in

various places and blue flats. She was going through a medieval times phase which seemed to be lasting a

while. Whereas Amie was wearing knee-high socks, a pink skirt that went almost to her knees,

a white spaghetti strap shirt, and black Mary Janes upon her feet.

"It takes skilled practice" replied Angelynna, as she twirled and flicked her blond hair

about. Amie rolled her eyes and grinned.

"Whatever you say Angelynna."

She then stuck her tongue out at Amie, which was a gesture she was happy to return. After a

few minutes of goofing off, the bus came about and they climbed aboard.

"Let's sit at the BACK of the bus this year," suggested Angelynna.

Amie shrugged,"Sounds good to me. We are one of the first bus stops so why not claim the back

as ours?"

As they went to sit down the bus driver informed them that the seats they choose is where

they will be sitting for the rest of the yer unless otherwise notified. They smiled at each

other, each of them agreeing that this year was going to be awesome.

They decided to sit in the smaller of the two back seats, which Amie was always amused by,

and Angelynna never understood why and probably never will.

"Hey, isn't that Romeo getting on the bus now?" Angelynna questioned.

Amie glanced up to where her friend was pointing.

"Yeah," then she did a double take.

For it was Romeo, only not the Romeo she remembered from middle school. She remembered a

goofy, geeky guy who wore glasses, t-shirts, jeans, and his hair had hung down to his ears.

But this Romeo was beautiful, handsome even, wearing a button down shirt with the first

couple of buttons un-done. He wore black dress pants and his hair pulled back into a

ponytail, because his hair was now a bit past his shoulders. His bangs hung down in front

of his face to his chin, much like an anime character's. He started walking toward the

back of the bus, then, recognizing his two best friends, he sat down across from us.

"Romeo?"

"Yes?"

"What happened to you?"

"Why? Do I not look handsome?"

Amie could feelher cheeks getting hot, "No, I mean, well yes, but you're...you...in middle

school...now...this...um..." now she was just rambling on, trying to will herself to shut

up.

"We just didn't expect this change in you," explained Angelynna.

Romeo was smiling, obviously amused at how red Amie was getting and he said,"Well I didn't

expect it either, but, you know, it could be a good change."

"Well don't go getting all 'popular' and ditching us like someone else we know."

He laughed, "Not in a million years. I am not Payge."

Angelynna smiled, satisfied that another one of her friends weren't going to THEIR side,

and by THEIR side they meant the snobs and such. Payge was the best friend anyone could

want, so they were lucky. Since elementary, or primary, whichever, school they had always

stayed together. Until about seventh grade. They really noticed what she was doing then.

They did notice in sixth grade that she had made "friends" with a couple of THEM but at

that time they didn't think much about it. They only really took notice when she stopped

wearing her usual t-shirt and jeans and started wearing dresses, skirts, and make-up.

Which she had told them that she despised. She had even started acting differently around

them. Trying to make them more like her. They wouldn't fall for it. It was then that they

had broke the bond of friendship and only spoke to her when needed.

The rest of the bus ride was peaceful, since people are usually tired first thing in the

morning, so the bus was quiet. Amie watched the world outside go by her from the window,

returning to her fantasies.
