Cheveyo

Chapter 4

(You can skip to the *** This first part is the dream again.)

The night air nipped my skin as I ran through a field of tall grass. The moon reflected off of the river nearby. The air smelled like the fresh river water and I could hear the stir of animals as I ran past them. I am tired and cold, the only thing that covers my body is a small dress made of animal skin and tribal paint. My feet are bare and they hurt, but I can't stop running. I'm looking for someone. I don't know who he is but I know he's the most important thing in my life.

I tripped over my feet and fell. "Aah!" I yelled as I twisted my ankle. I ignore the pain and get up, I can't give up on him. I have to find him. My pace has slowed much more because of my ankle. I can no longer run so I have to limp my way through as fast as I can.

I reach the edge of the woods and stop. I'm looking around frantically, searching. I hop into the woods and I begin to scream. "Cheveyo! Ha tlv no?! Ha tlv no?!" (Where? Where?) I don't know what the words mean but I scream them over and over. I hear something and I fall silent to listen.

"A ha ni!" (Here!) I hear in the distance. " Catori, a ha ni!" (Here!) I assume Catori is my name so I run to voice that calls. I reach a small clearing on the other side of the trees. I see him laying against a large rock.

**********************************************************************************************************

This is different from any other time I've seen him. The arrows in his chest are gone, but the wounds are still there. "Cheveyo?" I said with wonder. This isn't right. He looks hurt but he doesn't look like he's dying. His face is no longer puffy and I can see just how handsome he really is.

He has very high cheekbones, as do I, his face is strong and utterly beautiful. He has almond-shaped eyes and a prominent chin. His hair is still in tangles but his eyes are not as dull as they once were. They are shining brightly with the moon.

"Ga lu tsv, U ga na s dv, Catori." (Come , sweet Catori.) I went and kneeled beside him just as I had always done.

"Ni hi, Ga ne tli yv s gv." (You're changing.) I whispered touching the gash on his chest. There is still an open wound but it looks a lot different from it did before. I looked into his face with astonishment. He was smiling widely and held my face in his hands. The fire I felt seemed to burn hotter now. Its like fireworks going off around the area his hands rest.

"A yv, Ka nv wo di." (I heal.) He said pecking my lips. "A yv, A tu ya s ta nv, Ni hi, i go hi da." (I promised you eternity.) He said with a smile. I fell into him and cried.

"Ye li ni ge sv na!" (Impossible) I sobbed. "Ni hi, U yo hu sv!" (You died!) He cupped my cheeks in his hands again.

"Na s gi u wa sv, u que da li, A yo hu hi s di," (Only flesh dies) He whispered. "A quatse li,A quatse li, Ale ni da s di, i go hi daquu ge sv." (Our spirit lives forever.) I closed my eyes and put my forehead against his.

"A yv, Tla ye li, U da yo hu se di, Ni hi, A si que." (I can't lose you again.) I said with a broken voice. He ran his fingers through my hair and kissed me with more love and passion than he ever has. Everything around us vanished and it was just the two of us in the grass showing our love for one another.

"A yv, Ni ga ye do hv, Ni hi tsa tse li, Ha wi na di tlv, Ni ga vi, V le ni do hv, Ga lu tsv." (I remain yours in every life to come.) I ran my hand down his jaw. My fingertips tingled but I didn't want the sensation to end. I just sat there taking in his gorgeous features as he did mine. He smiled at me and I couldn't help but return it. He removed my hand from his cheek and held it tightly to his chest.

"Ni hi, A se, A na gi s di, A ni da we hi." (You must go angel.) He said frowning slightly. He kissed me deeply one last time. "Ayv, A se i, A go wa dv di, Ni hi, Nu li s dv." (I shall see you soon.)

"Tla!" (No!) I yelled holding him tightly. He kissed the top of my head.

"Shhh," He said hugging me. "A yv, a se, A tsa we so lv s do di, Ga nv hi da ge." (I must rest longer.) He kissed me one last time. "A yv, Gv ge yu i, ni hi, U s di, u wa ga." (I love you little Passion Flower.) I began to feel the pull again. I held on to Cheveyoas tightly as I could.

"Cheveyo, tla!"(No!) I screamed. "Ho wa tsu!" (Please!) He smiled at me as I faded into the darkness.

"Nu li s dv, Catori." (Soon.) He said still smiling. "Nu li s dv." (Soon.)

I woke up in a puddle of sweat and tears. My mind is going ten thousand miles a minute! Cheveyo is coming back?! How?! When?! I don't know what to do! I don't know if I should listen to the dream or not. Even though it is just a dream, I believe every word he has told me. I've done everything he has requested. I'm waiting for him and only him.

I stood up from my bed and took a deep breath, and just as I expected, there is a heavy scent of Cheveyo. I don't know why his smell brings me so much comfort. Its like everyday the smell gets stronger and stronger, like he's getting closer and closer. It seems like I can feel it also.

I grabbed a towel and hopped in the shower. I thought about the dream the entire time. He was healing. I've seen those arrows sticking out of his chest for the past twelve years. I even watched his four-year old self die in the same way. It's just strange that the dream just changed all of a sudden.

I finished my shower and dressed myself in a thin gray sweater and black jeans. I threw on a pair of gray slides. I put on a thin layer of makeup and grabbed a thin jacket. It's a little chilly outside being that it's the beginning of October. I grabbed my keys and headed out for another long day at school.

Its one long month since Austin's party. Ethan's been avoiding me like I'm the flesh-eating virus. Maybe it has something to do with Ben threatening to break every bone in his body if he ever saw him near me again. He told this huge lie about how he got the broken nose. He claims that he got into a scuffle with some guy from another school and they guy hit him in the face with a metal pipe. Ben ended that by telling everyone he got the shit kicked out of him by a girl.

When I pulled into my parking space I saw my friend standing there waiting. "Whats up guys?" I asked when I got out of the car. Nobody said anything for a minute. Ben finally spoke up.

"You know my birthday is this weekend, right?" He asked.

"Duh!" I laughed. You've been talking about it nonstop." He rolled his eyes at me.

"My parents are letting me have a party while their out of town-" I cut him off before he could go any further.

"I'd love to Ben," I said. "But I don't think I'm ready for another party." I want to be there because its his birthday but I don't think I can bear it. I was almost raped at the first party I ever went to, I don't want to end up in that situation again.

"You know me and Ben will protect you." Emmett said. "We'll stay with the you whole night, and Evan's not going to be there."

"Please!" They all said poking out their lip and giving me their best puppy dog faces. I laughed aloud.

"You guys really suck at making cute faces." I informed them.

"Asher thinks my faces are cute." Mel said. I looked over at her and she is smiling so hard it looks like her face will break. You can tell she's thinking about him.

"Snap out of it Mel!" Sara laughed.

"We're not going to talk about Mel," Emmett said. "When you're thinking about Ben, you actually drool!" He laughed hysterically. I couldn't help but laugh with him. Hell even Ben chuckled a bit. Sara stomped her foot and crossed her arms.

"It only happened three times." She mumbled. She and Ben are officially a couple. They are actually pretty cute together. I just hope their relationship doesn't interfere with our friendships. I don't want them to break up and I lose a friend because they don't want to be near each other.

"Will you please come to my party?" Ben asked getting down on his knees. "Pretty please!" He begged. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Ben, get up." I laughed.

"Not until you say yes." He grinned showing those pearly whites. I threw my backpack over my shoulder and walked towards the front of the school. "So your just going to leave me here?" He laughed.

"Yup!" I said smiling over my shoulder. "But I'll think about it." He jumped in the air and cheered. He gave me a devious look and started to run after me. I know whats coming next and I'm trying to avoid it. It's a move he calls 'The Big Ben Bear Hug' and its nothing to play with. I managed to make it into the school before he caught me.

He chased me down the hall until he got stopped by the Mr. Weet, the principal. "Mr. Porter, does this look like a playground?" He asked Ben rudely.

"No sir." Ben said trying not to look him in the eye. It isn't that he's intimidated by him, nobody looks him in the eye because you either gasp, or you laugh. He has the most twisted and outrageous eyes I've ever seen. They point in so many directions, you'd think he could see around corners.

"Next time it will be detention." He said sternly.

"Yes sir." Ben said again still looking anywhere but his face.

"Now get to class," He said. "You too Miss. Blackfoot." I gasped. I guess he really can see around corners. I held back my laughter and rushed past him.

"Headed there now sir." I said saluting him. We walked towards my locker so I could grab my books. "Benjamin got in trouble, Benjamin got in trouble!" I sang teasingly. He grinned and bumped me with his elbow. By the time I got to class, I was five minutes late.

"Got caught by Weet, huh?" Sara asked grinning at me.

"Who doesn't get caught by Weet?" I laughed.

"Youre late Miss Blackfoot." Mr. Brewer said from the front of the class. "Detention." I shrugged my shoulders and rolled my eyes at him before taking my seat. This will be my seventh detention this year and we've only been in school for two months, and they same person gives them to me every time. I felt Sara tapping me on my arm. I turned to look at her and she was trying to hold back her laughter.

"Do you know who Mr. Brewer looks like?" She asked. I already know she's going to say something that will probably get us both in trouble.

"Who?" I asked not caring if I got in trouble or not.

"Syndrome from the Incredibles!" She giggled. I burst out laughing and everyone in the class turned and looked at me.

"Something funny, Miss. Blackfoot?" Mr. Brewer asked rudely.

"Nope," I laughed. "Just laughing at how fun and wonderful literature is." I said sarcastically. He glared at me and then gave us out assignments. When Sara and I finished, I figured it would be a good time to tell her about my latest dream.

"The dream changed." I whispered. She whipped around in her chair and faced me. She completely forgot about the letter she was writing Ben.

"Spill." She said blankly. I told her the about all the things that had changed about the dream. I gave here every little detail. She sat there in silence staring at me like she was watching a really good movie.

"He's coming back, Sara." I said smiling happily. She smiled at me weakly.

"What if he is just a dream?" She asked hesitantly.

"He can't be," I said shaking my head. "Everything is just too real. He has to be real." I know she just doesn't want me to get myself worked up. What person would believe that he is real? He wouldn't constantly be in my dreams if he didn't exist at some point.

Sara didn't say much after that. The bell rang a few minutes later so we went our separate ways. The rest of the day went by so fast it was like blinking. I finished all of my assignments and now I don't have anything to do when I get home. The art show is tomorrow so I'll be tied up at the museum all day.

When I made it home, something was different. Everything looked exactly the same but the atmosphere felt different, besides the fact that the entire house smells like Cheveyo. It feels peaceful here and I don't feel like I'm alone. I've felt alone since mom died. Now its like someone is here with me and I feel safe. I know its Cheveyo.
