Moon Shine

Prologue

I ran. That was all I could do. I couldn’t think, wouldn’t think, if I did, I’m sure I would die.

I didn’t want to die, but it seemed inevitable. They were chasing me and they would kill me without a second thought.

I looked back and there they were. So close, to close.

I looked forward again, just in time to see the tree stump. I tripped and I went to the ground.

I could feel my ankle twisting in a way it shouldn’t, broken. My side hurt terribly from the running and the fall. My wrist was at least sprained from where I landed on it, trying to break my fall.

I looked around and saw them all around me, baring their teeth and snarling.

‘This is it,’ I thought. ‘I’m going to die. Right here, right now.’

I laid back and looked at the moon. The moon was full tonight and it was beautiful.

This is where I will die. Under the full moon that had always brought me happiness. I will miss you, moon. You were the only one to have stayed with me through everything.

With one last I love you to the moon, I turned my head to the side as the large wolf lunged at me
