Some memories, no matter how sweet, no matter how central to your being, are simply too painful to keep. These are the memories which fill you up, consuming your entire being and reminding you of the good times, before just as suddenly as they occurred, slamming you back down to Earth to face the disconcerting reality of what your life has become.
Then, once the cloud of anger and river of pain begin to subside, they reveal a stream of bitterness that slowly seeps into your body, twisting your thoughts and reminding you of promises broken. Once this process has begun, a person begins to try to move forward with their life, having new experiences and forming new memories, but those of their first love are always there, much like a needle in your side, continually pricking you, a constant reminder of of your downfall, of the first time you allowed your heart to be broken.
