Give Me Love

Chapter Two

Harry helped me out of the taxi after we had pulled up outside the venue, no one was outside yet, just a few of the stage hands having a sneaky cigarette before work. I pulled down my dress to make sure that I still had my dignity in check and staggered over to the door, clutching onto Harrys elbow for stability. We flashed out passes to get backstage and were then led to a dressing room with One Direction on the door. Harry swung it open and greeted his friends with a few cheers and handshakes; I gave them all quick hugs and sat down on the sofa next to Louis.

“Did he force you to come along again?” He smiled and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, I lent my head on his arm and laughed,

“Yep, he dressed me too.” I smiled and saw Louis roll his eyes and smile at my comment,

“I don’t see why you two aren’t together yet.” He commented with a smirk on his face,

“Because he’s like a very annoying older brother to me, it would just be weird.” I smiled back, after a moment I spoke again, “Right, if I have to watch you rehearse again I’m gonna need some alcohol in my system.” I hinted. Niall chucked a can of whatever over to me, hitting me in the leg as it fell. I laughed it off and stood up, grabbing it on the way; I walked over to him and cracked it open, spraying the contents all over him. All the boys erupted with laugher even Niall,

“What the hell was that for?” He screamed trying to keep a serious face,

“You threw it and shook it up!” I laughed throwing the half empty can in the bin by the desk; I looked back over and saw that he had a wicked glint in his eye. He started walking over to me,

“Hug and make up?” He grinned, opening his arm revealing that his shirt was soaking wet,

“No! I’m good, really!” I backed up but was caught in his long arms. His shirt squelched and water seeped through as he pulled me tightly into him. I wriggled away and looked down at my dress. The boys were still chuckling, noticing that my front was now soaking wet from passive beer spills. I tilted my head back and let out a sigh, trying not to laugh along with the boys,

“Well, jokes on one of you guys because now I’m gonna have to borrow someone’s clothes.” I smiled, still holding my arms out. I let a smile pass my lips as Niall started to look guilty,

“Well,” He breathed, “I suppose it was sort of my fault that you’re wet,” He mocked and let his hand rest on my shoulder, “But I’m going to have to wear my spare clothes so you’ll have to borrow Liam’s.” He smiled and looked over to Liam. Liam smiled up and me and chuckled.

“Come on, I’ll get you cleaned up.” He smiled and led me into the bathroom, “I’ll be back in a second.” As he closed the door I looked in the mirror at my top half, and grabbed some paper towels, I started patting my dress with the towels, lucky for me my dress was black so at least it wouldn’t be stained even if it smelled like beer for the whole evening. Liam knocked on the door and slowly opened it,

“They’ll probably be a bit big but you’ll be dry at least,” He smiled and closed the door after handing me a pair of his jeans and a black shirt. I shouted a thank you through the door and started to get changed. As I pulled on the almost too big jeans I realised that I had no other shoes except for the heels I was wearing. I Pulled some hair bands out of my handbag and tied the inside of the legs into a small scrunch, then rolled them back down giving the appearance that they were skinny jeans. I smiled at my make shift trousers and unlocked the door, picking up my wet dress and shoving it into my handbag. I walked back out,

“Cheers for that Liam.” I smiled and gave him a quick hug, he smiled and kept and arm round my shoulder,

“No worries, darlin’” He chuckled, “Another beer? Stirred not shaken this time?” I laughed and nodded as he handed me another can. I looked over to where Harry stood, noticing that another body was in the room, I looked over, trying to get a better look at this person but all I could see was a tuft of bright red hair behind Harry’s head. Harry turned to his side chucking his phone on top of his jacket; before he turned around I quickly got a glimpse of a young man, about 21 years old with ginger hair. Our eyes quickly locked contact before Harry moved in front of my vision again. I turned back to the rest of the boys,

“Who’s that?” I asked, not to anyone in particular, Zayn laughed some,

“That’s Harry’s mate Ed, he’s a singer too. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of him before to be honest.” I looked back over my shoulder quickly and turned my head back, shaking it lightly.

“I don’t recognise him either.” I sipped my beer and sat back down on the sofa, “Is he a singer or something?” I asked again, Zayn sat down next to me and pulled out his iPod, I grabbed one of the ear buds and pushed it lightly into my ear. He started playing an acoustic song, as the chorus of ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ filled my ears I recognised it. “Oh, this was on the radio this morning. Never would have thought he’d look like that though.” I noted, his voice really didn’t fit his face somehow, although I definitely wasn’t complaining. He laughed some,
“No one really fits their voice though.” He smiled; I nodded in agreement and looked back over at this Ed. He really was rather intriguing, his scruffy ginger hair was all over the place covering his eyes slightly, and his freckled face was contracted in a natural smile. I looked over what he was wearing too, a black duffer shirt and dark blue wash jeans graced his stocky frame, and his shirt was tight, showing off his shoulders yet hanging loosely around his hips.

“Oi!” Liam shouted to me, snapping me out of my thoughts, I turned my head slowly to look at him, narrowing my eyes as I locked vision with him; “Do you fancy him or something?” He laughed. My face melted into a guilty expression,

“No.” I lied, avoiding eye contact, I stood up quickly as they shot me funny looks. “I’m going to the bathroom.” I excused myself and headed for the direction of the toilet.

Once I’d done my business I checked my reflection in the small mirror. My cheeks were flushed and my eyeliner had already started to run. I watered a piece of toilet paper and ran it under my eyes smudging away the evidence of me looking like a panda beforehand. I wetted my hands and scrunched up the curls in my hair, adding a slight volume but not enough to notice. After slipping on a clear lip gloss I rested my hand on the door knob, hoping for it to unlock. I tried pulling the tiny brass lock to the side so that I could get out but to no avail. I toyed with it for what felt like an hour before it jolted itself open and I flew through the door, crashing into a body on my way out. A pair of strong arms caught me before I fell completely; I blushed furiously and mumbled a sorry as I stood back up trying to laugh it off. As I slowly lifted my head a warm smile and a pair of crystal blue eyes met mine.

“Are you alright Miss?” The red-headed man asked, I blushed some more, feeling like an absolute idiot. I quickly nodded do I didn’t seem completely brain dead. He smile grew wider, “Did you lock yourself in or something?” He laughed, I had to laugh back to stop myself from crying and banging my head against the nearest wall.

“Yeah, it’s a bit stiff so you’ll have to be careful.” I laughed and brushed it off. He gave me a sweet smile removing his hands from around my waist.

“I’m Ed; it’s nice to meet you.” He offered me one of his small hands which I took. His grip was soft and warm around mine. I blushed again, mentally kicking myself for having cold clammy hands after being stuck in a bathroom,

“You too, I’m April.” I smiled back, trying to drown out as much of the boys giggling as I could.
